Thanks for the video, I’ve been searching for latching reed switches for ages for my own coach lighting projects but couldn’t find any. I’ve got to redo a couple of them so that’s most helpful!
Hello, glad you found it, sadly this channel has been closed for pretty much over a year every now and again a lone video would make an appearance for the most part though its pretty much closed. But hey better finding it better late than never.
@@davetanner9133 I don't follow your question. The magnet activates the switch. There is a reed switch a matching switch which is activated by an external magnet.
@@bluebellModelrailway Thank you for the reply. I was looking at the kits and could see that the reed switches they use are actually just the normal cheaper reed switches (non latching) with a magnet attached using a bit of tape. I already had some regular reed switches so I just attached a weak magnet to one of those as a test, and it worked perfectly as a latching switch! The normal reed switches were £3.13 delivered FOR 30 from Aliexpress, so a big saving on £27.50 for 10. Should be able to to do most of my rolling stock for a cheap price now! Very happy.
Yes I have used Aliexpress in the past however what I order isn't necessarily what I received 😂 and was a royal pain to sort out and get the right things.. There isn't much protection either so tend to avoid it... But glad you found a supply...
Not particularly it was mainly as said in the clip... Carriage was dark inside when you spend time and effort to fit a detailed interior and can't see it... Then it was pretty pontless putting it in there... Its been on my list for a while just finding the right one.
Hi, I've tried to purchase exact that set from layouts4u, and it seems that it is not possible anymore (web site does not allow completing purchase, and nobody is answering neither phone, e-mail nor contact form available directly on their web page). Is there maybe another provider you could recomment to purchase those items?? Thanks in advance!!!
It's something Layouts4u do when either they are away, or unwell, I expect it's one of those, so they turn the checkout off. It is also the holiday season so it is probably closed. I haven't found anywhere else that does a complete kit like this one. If you read the homepage that's exactly why.. "We are currently closed for web site and telephone orders for Christmas and New Year Holidays"
You certainly can't buy them individually or a mass order.. The people who make the kits do supply them separately... They do break easily if you are not too careful.
I have about 75 locos , n gauge scale i,m selling if interested at £4.50 each all brand new in the blister packs , want to sell as job lot , they are static mounted models , have no clue if they can be unscrewed off of the tracks as they are all sealed - new - old stock . I'm in Farnborough hampshire .
That’s brilliant. You’ve captured a mastery of model making there.
@Major Leonel yo nobody cares about your imaginary girlfriend
Lovely bit of lighting, beautiful work on the carriage itself too my friend! Cheers Joachim
Great job, was thinking of doing this this morning, and pleased to find your video with the link. Cheers!
So glad i found this, As Hornby are wanting like £16 for the same thing.
And the price hasn't changed much even tho its 4 years later.

@@bluebellModelrailway Well, there is a lot to be inspired by and if you pick it up again, I will be ready.
Where does the 2nd magnet
Go?

@@bluebellModelrailway oh I got it now sorry
@davetanner9133 no problem Dave hope it helps
How long can this battery operated last for?
Depends how long it's on for 😉 honestly mines still going and changing the battery is straight forward.
Where can I find this product?
Product link is in the description of the video.
Do you know where you can buy just the latching reed switches? Having trouble finding those for reasonable price. Thanks!
Unfortunately no they come with the kits although I think they do them separately...

How to turn light off?
Use the magnet to switch off the latching switch.
