This was AMAZING! I’m in India so had to work hard to keep things cool but it was still pretty easy and well worth the effort-flakey and oh my, the crust! I had a moment of stupidity and forgot to add the blueberries but they still turned out amazing-i just slather on blueberry jam before eating them. I’ve never had an actual English scone but I really hope they taste something like mine 😅

What makes it sourdough? Sourtdough is made with sourdough started and no other leavening
Hi there! This recipe utilizes sourdough discard (unfed sourdough) for flavor and tenderizing. So, you have to add leavening to help the scones rise. LMK if you give em a go!
@@vanillaandbeancan you use fed starter without baking soda? Also what is the cornstarch doing. I’m trying to learn the why’s 😊 thank you. The scones look delicious
Hi Sarah! There's no baking soda in this recipe. I've included the "why's" on my blog post, linked above. In short, the cornstarch tenderizes the scones and also gives these scones a crunch/crisp exterior (along with the turbinado sugar). I hope this helps and you enjoy the scones! @@sarahkerner4275
@@vanillaandbeanohh if you watch video it does say baking soda & cornstarch. So that is why I asked 😊 but I do want to thank you for this video. I have learned more on making, rolling & baking scones than any other
