I continue to be amazed that the industry is insisting on DRM for ATSC 3. They are shooting themselves in the foot. I am pretty technically inclined, and most of my friends and family are as well. Absolutely nobody that I know is interested in ATSC 3.0. Some of them will tell you straight out that DRM is the reason, others won't. But the bottom line is that many people are simply uninterested in the prospect. If the industry wants ATSC 3 to be successful, they need to overcome this resistance, and they're not going to do that by putting additional restrictions on its use.
I agree 💯. When they first started mentioning ATSC 3.0, I was excited about the upgrades to the old style OTA. It was painfully slow to get rolling. Tuners were hard to come by and expensive. I was able to try it out at a friends house in a different state and the content was encrypted. Since then, I have zero interest in it….unless they fix the issues.
Paying for CNBC is a hard pass for me because as a stock option trader I get Bloomberg live streaming for free with my E-trade brokerage account with live news feeds. Also Bloomberg live is free on Haystack News and Plex.
Bloomberg is good and Yahoo Finance ok but for business/financial and stock news etc. I would rather have CNBC. CNBC is one of the few channels I missed when I cut the cord. Not quite sure its worth 14.99 month but it has been possible to stream in past for much higher price I believe.
I have been a cable subscriber for years, but the price has become insane. If you were just starting streaming services after cutting the cord, what three streaming services would you start with that at least one of them has local news channels. Looking to spend around $100.00 per month. Thanks
You save more money a month if you buy an outdoor atenna for local channels and add a few steaming apps you want. I spend under $30 for Hulu/Disney Plus/Max bundle, Netflix, Paramount Plus, and Peacock. All with ads. You pay more for ad free.
I d downloaded the CBS app so that I could get my local CBS for news. Same thing for NBC thing. Same thing for ABC so that way I can get al for local news. Actually ABC is local now. I believe you have to download that app and it has that your local station on it. But that's what I use for news. I never watched Fox. I'd never watched CNN or any of the other ones. I'd rather my local news also
First, see if the local news is broadcast on one of the free streaming services 'live' subbsections. It's usually a tape of a news program earlier in the day but it gets updated a few times during the day. Try Tubi or PlutoTV (both free). Also get an antenna up (if you get good broadcast signal reception in your area) and you'll get most/all of the major stations.
Probably only in areas where it's not possible to pick up local channels with an antenna. In those areas cable providers should be required to offer a tv package.
@ed9492 Perhaps those should be the only channels they provide and even then in areas with good tv reception via an antenna rules should be changed to where they don't have to even provide that.
There's no way it's been 53 years since a cigarette commercial has been on tv!!! I'm only 42 and I remember seeing Marlboro commercials on tv all the time
@@DerekEvans1013 I'm not sure what you're remembering, but Richard Nixon signed the law which outlawed the advertising of cigarettes on television and radio in 1970. It went into effect the next year. That said, The older ads that aired prior to that date pop up occasionally in a documentary or news story. And Marlboro Man print ads continued until 1999.
I’m 57 and I can’t remember cigarette ads on TV: only magazines, billboards, etc. Cigarette TV advertising was banned when I was very young, so before you were born.
$14.99 a month CNBC, LOL, someone really does know how to over price their content. I doubt I would pay $0.99 a month for it. I seldom to never ever clicked on CNBC or CNN or MSNBC when I had cable TV
@@ladnitnnyldivad I suspect the number of analog receivers out there is greater than you think. They are still popular among the vintage video game console crowd, since reproduction of low resolution games on digital sets tends to be rather poor. Judging from the number of analog sets and DTV converters that keep showing up on craigslist and next door, there are still plenty of them out there.
Every television station should be required to broadcast over-the-air so if you're in the right area then you can pick it up with an antenna. As for analog as well - I agree.
What would that do? Analog tv was not better than digital. What people forget is that with analog a lot of ppl got snowy reception at best, and complain w digital it won't come through at all. The real problem is the FCC should have made it so in areas that can't get oat, that the over the air local channels can't charge the cable company for those channels..would be more complicated with streaming.
I wish he would Cut to the Chase and Tell Us which ctv Co.'s "cable television Companies" are Shut Down, Defunct and will be Shut Down and be come Defunct in 2025. With out the Analysis !
Cable companies need to offer cheap pricing for local channels, a few addons like TCM, AMC, Comet, SYFY, TNT, TBS, USA, etc. Exclude sports channels which cost so much. Set those up as add on costs and see who is willing to pay for those.
If you are a fan of old TV programming, you can still see the old cigarette company sponsorships from the shows. I remember how weird it was to see "The Flintstones" hocking coffin nails. Personally, I prefer the old "The George Burns and Gracie Allen Show" ads, because they were for Carnation Evaporated Milk, which came from contented cows 😂😂😂
Really considering cancel my directv nothing is on their i watch any more other than some anime that are airing dubbed in English the only thing that is stopping me is what happens when the internet goes out
Dude, you tend to draw out what your main story is way too long and your thumbs make it look like you're happy to deliver your news which any channel shutting down isn't good. This isn't a channel as you make it sound but a service provider which can be replaced and customers still get access to all their channels so who really cares other than the employees for these services? Explain it better to your viewers if there's more to it.
Maybe not very polished but has been doing this for many years and is very informative and up to date. Don’t be a jerk. You don’t have to subscribe if you don’t like. Not everyone can present as well as TV hosts. As an example, just look at the hosts of the VIEW…. well, don’t. They are not a good example.
Just look at the attached links to each story. Luke has over 300,000 viewers to this channel so apparently a lot of people don’t mind how he presents the stories.
Diamond Sports > Main Street Sports. Going from $9B to $200M in debt means some creditors took a severe "haircut" in that bankruptcy case. Most of the top-rated baseball teams have left for other services, so it'll be interesting to see if they can attract enough of an audience with the teams they have left. CNBC - I liked their long-format news stories they put out on regular RUclips. I hope they keep those up and not put them under this new mobile app. Unless they can steer their sister station MSNBC to the middle of the road it can disappear and it won't be missed. ATSC 3 Games - If it won't play on a current ATSC 1 TV and its blocked on a translator device (like a HDHomerun box) then its of no use.
Gambling is an addiction just like alcohol and drugs, just not recognized as much. I know marriages and families that have been destroyed by gambling addiction. You can scoff all you want and pass it off as “only affects a minority”, but it is much more widespread than you think. Should we legalize fentanyl because it only affects a minority of people? No, you will say, but that is because it is more publicized, Gambling, not so much.
Technically they were allowed on tv because it wasnt linked to cancer until it was found out that it does. Nothing was bad about that since we didnt know. I do agree with getting rid of cigerettes though.
Odd that you don't ever mention the cost of starlink! It's monthly fee is expensive plus the fees for hardware and congestion fee. This would be my absolute last choice for internet. Also would never buy anything with musk's name on it. Would like to see more info on OTA broadcast but you very seldom go there.
