@@longdang3379 Hyundai has a fix now on the facelifted Tucson and supposedly will will roll out to other Hyundais. You’re meant to press the mute button on the steering wheel for a few seconds.

@@terrymichaels306That would be good. The beeping is annoying but the actual feature is pretty handy. Any sources on how you found out about holding the mute button?
Because it's forced upon us all by ANCAP. KIA would prefer not to do it and none of us punters want it but ANCAP rolls on regardless inventing work for themselves and making misery for us
@@Joshua.P3I work with Hyundai so tried it and worked. Tried in Santa Fe but doesn’t have this yet. Are there any technical differences worth considering if choosing between this and the Santa Fe Hybrid calligraphy? I don’t mind the looks of either but trying to work out if there’s any real point of difference in terms of the drivetrain performance/fuel economy, or say third row seating space or luggage capacity when third row is in use.
Hi Paul, the test looked great, but there may be looming problems. My 2024 Sorento HEV failed to start at less than 3000km on the clock and less than 3 months old. It was taken to Heartland KIA at Castle Hill following a call to KIA customer service on the 17th July 2024 and is still there awaiting a body control module from Korea.(I should have ignored all of the tech for 'planet earth' and purchased a diesel) I have still not had the car returned and I am very disappointed by KIA's 'movement that does not excite'. I like driving to see family in North Queensland but I feel sure that you could not take this out of Sydney due to reliability problems. I traded a 2017 Pathfinder GL looking for better economy, what a failure. What do you think?
Fuel consumption is a bit disappointing. Just got home from a trip to Melbourne Airpor (including the horrendous stop/start traffic there). Averaged 6.6 l/100km in our 2.2 diesel Sorento Sport. As for the pricing, crikey, does Hyundai think that it's Mercedes-Benz or something???? And sounds like it might be a bit gutless down low, too, or is it OK? The diesel has tons of grunt off the mark and from say, 60 to 80 km/h it is extremely responsive.
The Kia Carnival Hybrid shares the same powertrain and engine as the Sorento. I'm really looking forward to seeing a review of that. The only problem is the Hybrid version has just started to be delivered to Australian consumers and there could be only hundreds each month to Australia.😩
Great review, and to the point! Any news on the PHEV yet? I'm 7 months on the waiting list so far, fingers crossed it arrives here before the FBT exemption runs out. Would also love to know when you do review the PHEV, if there is much reduction in interior space with the battery pack tucked in place. Our family is tall, so it's a slight concern of ours.
I would buy one, if they made those “safety “ features able to be turned off permanently at the drivers discretion. Not every time you start the car. This won’t happen of course but those things drive me mad, there just annoying and distracting. My mind struggles to equate 70 grand with a Kia branded product sadly.
I put down a deposit on a diesel Sorento GT-Line a while back. After having the Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid for a week though, I’m keen to see the hybrid Sorento. Great looking cars. I’m torn between both.
It's interesting to me that this and the Santa Fe Hybrid are both the quickest stopping vehicles on your list. I'd love to know what they have done to make them stop so well. Are they on unique tyres?
You actually led me to check the other review again and the stopping time was much worse.. I suspect that CarExpert retested the performance numbers given it was done in the wet in the Santa Fe video.
I'd get the diesel more power, the economy is almost the same (but diesel fuel is generally cheaper) plus purchase price is few ks cheaper. Great car but diesel is the way forward at this stage
@@acde9355 Hyundai is the parent company and whatever the parent says the child follows. In this case Hyundai gets priority across all models while Kia gets the leftovers.
I wish it wasn’t a 7 seater. Too many (yes pun intended) seats for the average Aussie family. Five seats would be cheaper to build & lighter thus have better fuel economy.
Fuel consumption is unimpressive. I just drove from the Gold Coast to Sydney and back over the last week in my VW Touareg 3.0 V6 Diesel and averaged 6.1 litres per 100 km. These hybrids are not worth buying . You are better off buying Diesel. 😊
I think the same Where I live in South Africa, diesel is more expensive than petrol, so it makes petrol hybrids more attractive, but I still think diesel is all-round better
Do you think it’s right to compare it with kluger / highlander? ESP in terms of size? Same for Santa Fe too… kluger is wider and longer… like pathfinder and cx 9 or 90.
ive had, despite some speeding fines, a good non crash incident record for 35 years and I don't wont robots pinging at me at all the time. PO that shit
Kia should've add bigger battery and make to electric motor more powerful, not cut the balls of the existing combination. Hey, Paul, when will you test the PHEV? :)
I would love to see when you review large SUV’s, if you could let potential buyers know if you could fit 3 baby car seats in the second row. Rather than having to do our own reviews and car test to make sure.
I would love to know how much we are paying for all this crap that we turn off. We bought a new Ford Everest Wildtrac For the wife for towing her horse float August last year she loves it. Dont have to accept anything, if people stop paying the crazy prices, prices will come down. I'm holding onto my cars longer, just not willing to pay so much extra money to upgrade to something that just beeps at you all the time.
I have the Kia SORENTO HEV and love it. Picked it up on 17th May. Love how it handles.
Hey Paul, be good to incorporate a headlight test for night driving. Great review.
The reverse test is so unique!
I picked mine up in June, FWD Sorento Hybrid and I absolutely love it. Great family car, plenty of room, really great to drive.

Can’t see advantage of this over a diesel .. the diesel gives over 1000 KM+ range on high ways and 750KM in city.. sticking with diesel
I agree - Purchased the new Sorento PE - GT-line 2.2D - ave 6.7 town and 5.9 highway…service 15K kms…..not 10K kms
I know its not supposed to be an off-road vehicle but is it able to do normal dirt roads to access one of those campgrounds?
Any car can.
Why don’t they give the top spec body coloured cladding?
All dual zone climate control are just Djual zone for Paul, so nice :)
I suppose you made parallel hybrid than series hybrid.

Is it 2wd or awd? I’ve got a Sportage and can only get in 2wd
It’s available in awd.
I wonder why the new Santa Fe can have sufficient supply when it's being hybrid-only while the Sorento only has limited hybrid system supply.
@@acde9355 Hyundai is the parent company and whatever the parent says the child follows. In this case Hyundai gets priority across all models while Kia gets the leftovers.

I realise diesel power is on the nose these days, but barely anymore effecient with way less torque?
The diesel could end up being more expensive to run in the long term if you mostly do short trips.
