I can totally relate to this. I was the same way when I made my last child support check for my daughter. my ex was a cheater and turned my kids against me. she lied and accused me of all kinds of foul crap in family court and fixed it so's I couldn't see the kids I was paying child support for. I never cheated on her or mistreated her in any way and I gave her the house and she still wouldn't let me see my kids. Was so glad when I made that last payment. Such crazy anger every time I had to write her name on a check. It feels so good to be a free of a crazy & angry woman!

The rest are in prison because they can't afford to pay alimony and because they are in prison never will. NEVER get married in America. The woman is rewarded for breaking the contract while the man is utterly destroyed and neither women or the government care. Hence why marriage rates are WAY down and will continue to go down as men wake up to the total rorte of a system. Robin Williams committed suicide because of this system and so has countless men over the last few decades. Alimony is a crime as far as I'm concerned and the government gets rich off of it. It happens to men as well. It’s the circumstances of leaving I think the courts or lawyers take into account. If it’s indifferent, then I think it goes more smoothly since they’re not out to cut throats. If it’s due to cheating, it must be proved and the cheater gets nothing. If it’s in anger, then it’ll cause more harm than good and lawyers aim for the highest benefit for their clients and so negotiate a good leaving package. Again I think it comes down to earning and the reputation of the bread winner. If they’re equal then they split the belongings like another divorce stereotype depending on what is needed (e.g. The husbands name is on the house but the wife needs to commute so she gets the car). It’s not a sexist thing at all, it’s just the majority of the stories we hear and I assume the majority of alimony instances are women who sit back and wait for their ex husbands to work extra hard to pay for his future and then hers. There are other factors in on it but alimony laws ought to be changed like an income threshold and the alimony receivers are to get a job etc.

I think really Alan was just desperate for companionship as he's always had bad luck with women and he probably figured he would never do any better than Judith. now my third wife we met truly by accident at a convention in dallas related to our fields. i thought she was the most beautiful woman i had ever seen in my life and i had to talk to her at her booth. talking led to playful flirting and then afterwards we exchange info and i learned she lived only one city away from me back in Canada. we started off just dating and then it slowly became a real relationship. and we fell in love with each other. about a year and half after we first met i asked her to spend the rest of her life with me. fast forward nearly 13 years later we have 4 children and i still look at her the same way i looked at her when i first met her in dallas. she is my rock. she is everything to me. and there’s not a day that goes by that i dont think about the many lessons i learned from my previous marriages and exercise good values in my third marriage. so i learned my lesson. just took many years to learn.

Was insanely funny when I was young. Now I see that 3875 and that only gets my blood boiling. They definitely shoulda gone with the big check. Now that I’m older I see that this is the centerpiece of why Alan makes those jokes about being cheap in all the episodes and has to live with his brother

That's the joke throughout the series, up to this point, that after Charlie dates and breaks up with Alan's attorney, she screws Alan over by giving Judith their entire pension fund and almost doubling his alimony payments so he constantly finds ways to cut corners expense wise...there is an entire episode dedicated to it, where Alan becomes a human lab rat for a pharmaceutical company and is swiftly falling apart while Charlie gets his new gig as Charlie Waffles

Yeah, I'd tell Alan, "May I suggest you get a set of multi-colored boxers or boxer briefs? Those tighty whities you always wear make you look like you're wearing a diaper!" Charlie would probably say, "A diaper would suit him better as he does have a history of wetting the bed," and Alan would yell out, "That stopped when I was a kid!"
