My best friend from high school passed this summer from cancer. He was 53 yrs old same as me we met in 1984 and we were BMW geeks together for many years. He left me his X3M non comp. I didn't know this was happening so I am the current caretaker of this beast. This was his 5th BMW and my 3rd. Obviously this is the holy grail of cars for me ITS a M! I am very happy to hear it is going to be reliable. I am not going to tune it or anything. I am going to treat it well and keep it until I die and someone else can take it over from there.Good video I subbed look forward to your content.
Doug, please consider doing a video of the pros and cons of an S58 vs B58 motor. Maybe something covering strength, cost, reliability, efficiency, etc. Thanks
Thanks for your impressions of the overall strength of the X3M. I’m looking to add one these to my garage in the next year. My fun and weekend car is a big turbo 950 horsepower 2019 Audi RS3. The X3M looks like it could fit the bill for a fun all around daily.
Doug Machado, I just bought a CTS Downpipe for my 2017 540i. Would you recommend me trying to put it on myself (no mechanical experience except for changing tyres and battery...not even spark plugs).
Those V8 motors are very problematic, as long as you keep up with the maintenance you should be fine, the only problem that I see with buying it with 100k miles is that you don’t know how well maintained it was unless the owner proves it to you, best way would be to get the car inspected by a professional.
New sub here just sold my 2nd ctsv coming to the dark side lol Appreciate you sharing knowledge bro Whats your opinion on the 2021 x5m comp how realreliable they? whatWhat'sryour opinion the s63 how much can i pIsh it drivetain etc ? hanks in advance God Bless, and muchg sucess
Thanks for the positivity brother, so the s63 is not really reliable the engine itself breaks a lot I’ve seen many spinning rod bearings and some locking up, but the drivetrain itself the only thing I’ve seen going bad so far was a driveshaft, it collapsed inside and it was making a clicking noise, but now if you’re building the motor you should be good
Yes. Back in 2015, I bought a Certified Preowned 2013 BMW M5 from a BMW dealership in Huntington Beach, Ca. When I looked up the VIN, I found information that previous owner raced the crap out of it and returned it to stock. The car never should have never made it through an honest Certified Preowned inspection. Needless to say the car had many issues, which I believe were mostly resolved after several warranty repairs. I had the car for 2 1/2 years and the warranty paid out $15,000 of repairs. I dropped the car pretty quickly when the warranty started reaching its end.
@R L just not a great tire....they dont perform that great in the summer but i wouldnt say they are the worst for summer..but suck in anything and everything else really....and not a great life span...but I guess it depends what your doing with them on your car..my x3mc is my daily so definitely not a tire I'd go with again
@R L yea I got the tire coverage too...and had a few new ones put on at one point...but they will cover whatever tire you have on as long as it's on the stock wheel...but yea I agree with you they pick up everything and just don't seem to have the contact they do spin very easily..and arent great in the rain at all....but either way still a all around great car to daily I love mine...aslong as you dont care about gas mileage it's a pretty great all around car...but yea I agree they could have made it a little more aggressive on the rear of the car like how the m3s are with the big fender flairs....

Thank you so much, I’m so sorry to hear about your friend.
Your best friend left his car to a great person. I want to get a x3m so bad. Enjoy it and do a launch for him 🙌🙌
You must be like brothers! R.I.P
I am welcoming my self to your channel. As soon as you stated that you are a certified BMW tech I subscribed.
This type of support is what keeps me going, I appreciate you 🙏🏽

Got you
Add me to that! I have the M40i B-58 What do you think? I think under normal driving it should be up there!

It’s a fun car, you’ll enjoy every minute of it, it’s impressive for an suv
This is why I bought out my best friends lease turn in. I know he treated it well and it had about $30grand in customizations added to it.
It’s the best thing when you know the background, you did good !!

Very good video 👏🏻👏🏻
What’s your thoughts on this? I’m looking at a 2021 X3M with 63k miles do you think anything might come up without warranty?
My next car! $50-60k for a low mileage X3MC. Not bad at all.
I’m subscribed!
Great information thanks.
How many miles did it have?
How do you get away with the tune? Once you give it back ista will flag as soon as you connect?
Hi Doug, do you recommend buying a x5m 2015 F85 engine with 100k miles on it? What's the main problem on this car? Thanks
Those V8 motors are very problematic, as long as you keep up with the maintenance you should be fine, the only problem that I see with buying it with 100k miles is that you don’t know how well maintained it was unless the owner proves it to you, best way would be to get the car inspected by a professional.
Dope! 🔥
Is the problem with the rear axles only when you mod the car or is it ok to launch when stock?
You should be fine stock, make sure you have the tire pressure set, that influences on traction.
@@dougmbmw perfect. Thank you sir!

I'd hate be the buyer after what that car went through.

@@MatthewJay80 F10 M5's are problematic in general, but being raced it really gave that car no chance lol
Do B48 and B58 reliable?

Not Knocking Your Hustle..But Too Know This Is What's being Done with Leased Vehicles Is Like a Gut Punch.. 🤣😂
I know the feeling lol but on the other hand it’s good to know the car takes the beating without breaking
True that.. I was Unaware the Engine was Fully Forged till After I Bought it.. Then I Started Researching the Potential..
