Try living on the front lines between 49er and Seahawk territory - PDX metro - and imagine catching a divisional night game at the local B-Dubs. Some of the most fun experiences I’ve had as a fan.
I remember I was in 8th grade when the Seahawks won the Super Bowl. Barely anybody was at school the following Monday because of the Super Bowl parade. A teacher I had in high school actually designed a shirt to celebrate it.
As a 18 year old who was 8 years old during the prime of Seattle. Man this video was a blast in the past. Thank you for this masterpiece. All of the memories are flooding in.
Growing up in Seattle was magical watching the team become a super power for years to come. People will never understand how mediocre and overlooked they were for years.
The Seahawks were mid in their AFC years aside from a couple of Knox’s teams in the mid 80’s. And in the 2000’s they had one team make the NFC Championship Game (05 which made the big game). Definitely underwhelming. Then the excellent 2010’s squads came along. The Seahawks had five people on the 2010’s All Decade Team: Marshawn Lynch, Bobby Wagner, Richard Sherman, Earl Thomas, and Pete Carroll.
I'm a Washington native, been here my whole life. Pretty used to the incredibly mediocrity of our teams over the years (Mariners still make me cry). During the 2006 Super Bowl my dad hosted a watch party with the local church group and broadcast the game to play on the side of a blank wall downstairs. I wasn't really that into sports at the time (I was like 9 and was one of those kids that got in trouble for reading books in class, you know the type). The details of the game elude me but I do recall a room full of 30-40 year old Asian men all being collectively devastated at the result of the game, which if you can picture that image is kind of a surreal sight. I spend a lot more time these days raging at all our sports teams, and while I can be bitter and wish we were better, I still feel rather fortunate to have been able to witness this era of dominance. The culture from that team at its peak still permeates throughout the scene today, even if nothing has quite reached those heights since. Great video!
I can’t wait til the Seahawks become elite once again. The passion that we Seattleites show for our teams is second to none. ☔️🔥 Also bring back the Sonics!
I love this! As someone who grew up in the seattle area during the LOB era and used to watch literally all of your videos when as a kid, seeing this pop up in my recommended tn was a gift. (I'm 20 in a couple months).
i still think if Seattle hadn’t called that timeout against Atlanta they would’ve went on to win that SB against baltimore. and obviously had they decided to give beastmode the ball they would’ve won the 2014 SB.. that’s 3 in a row, the definition of a dynasty. it’s unfortunate they won’t be remembered for being as dominant as they truly were for those 3 years.
That 2012 team was very nasty and the field at the Skins took out Clemons, the best and only dominant pass rusher and the kicke. It cost us the Atlanta game. They would not have needed the huge comeback and if they did, Matty Ice doesn't get TWO passes off with no pressure. They would have not been in FG range
Me living in Seattle as a Seahawks fan, this video gave me a lot of good memories of this squad in it's dominant times, hell even when I first started watching them back in the early 2000's during the Holmgren years. During the 2013 season, the streets were full of blue and green, cars were donning hawks flags, it was Seahawks mania and I cherished every moment of it. Being 19 years old at the time, I remember acting like an idiot listening to the nfc championship game on radio while I was working at a goodwill warehouse, and when I heard Warren Moon scream with joy with Raible announcing the interception, I ended up throwing random clothing donations in the air and jumping for joy....The ending of this video slowly brought back the pain, knowing that they could have won two superbowls back to back....but I'm looking forward to part 2....because the one thing this team makes me appreciate was that they made a historic impact on the sport in the 2010's, brought the city a superbowl and inspired young football players on defense today saying they looked up to the L.O.B. ( looking at you Byron Murphy :D )...... It was magical and I will always be thankful to that squad and Pete Carroll.
KTO I gotta hand it to you… your videos are truly so well researched and the story telling keeps me coming back time and time again. I come from being a huge basketball fan and player, and don’t know as much about the history of the NFL as I do the NBA. I learn a lot from your videos. I keep coming back time and time again. This is just awesome, and these vids get me talking to people who aren’t football fans. I tell them about what I know (stuff I learn from these videos) and then they start to get interested. Your style and approach is truly infectious . Keep it up man please. I always come back to this channel and only this channel for football related content.
I hope this becomes a series, so many interesting rises and falls in even recent nfl history. Would love to see one on the colts and the move from Baltimore and all that
The best take on the 2013 Seahawks, and The Legion of Boom I've ever watched. I am so not looking forward to watching part 2, but I have to. I owe it to my Seahawks.
I wasn't sure if RUclips just wasn't showing me your videos as much anymore, or if you just weren't uploading as much. This was a damn GOOD video though man!!!
This video gave me chills! Very well made and it feels great to have someone encompass one of the greatest Seattle Seahawks teams of all time, and my favorite team in a video like this.
I was living in Seattle during those fun years. I hadn't actually ever really picked a favorite NFL team before, although I grew up in Colorado as a Bronco hater. So despite the dreadful 2011 season (they were so boring to watch), I decided to actively become a fan in 2012. Slightly before the bandwagon. I was asked to drive it, basically. Realizing Wilson was special was so much fun. The players were odd ducks and fun characters. And the best part about Pete Carroll era Seahawks...those games were weird and never boring. I know Part 2 will talk about the downfall. However, despite knowing what's next, nothing will ever replace that feeling in 2013 that we KNEW they were going to be champs. And then seeing it happen in the most epic beatdown in years. I watched that game with my uncle, a Seahawks fan since 1976. It was just a feeling of real contentment. Winning a super bowl is very hard. Seattle did it with a colorful, unique team. Nothing ever takes that away.
Marshawn Lynch will forever be my favorite Rb. I remember watching the season of 2012-2013-2014 and at the beginning of the season in 2012 I said the way Lynch and Wilson played they are going to be special and the LOB you already know they was getting to really trust each other. Sherman wasn't the best athlete, but he could get into receiver's heads so good that it just made him such a difficult opponent to match up with then his ball hawk skills like poking or swatting the ball and intercepting it was top tier. All around good team one of the best chemistries I've seen Imo. That Superbowl run and almost back-to-back will be etched into my memory forever.
This team had a chokehold on my middle school self. Thank you Seattle, for everything (except helping Scott Fitterer get a GM job, and gifting Brady a ring)
the editing of this video was so nice man, I can tell you been putting so much work in it. it does made a difference, made me stick through the whole thing
I think people around the Seattle area forget how much people hated the Pete Carroll hiring! I was working at Tulalip Resort casino at the time and man i heard a lot of people not happy with it.
I was in the St Louis airport, waiting at a bar for my flight back to Seattle when it was announced, two Rams fans in there sitting right next to me and one said "Oh shit, Carroll is going to bring every blue chip kid nobody knows about to Seattle, he probably has a huge list of guys he wanted and probably knows all the HS kids too" I actually laughed because I was just happy that Paul Allen didn't bother waiting for Mora to get worse.
In this time period Pete Carroll was one of the greatest coaches we had ever seen. I remember every broadcast they would show statistics that you swore was a misprint. Showed you how truly dominant this team was in that era.
One of the most entertaining teams and one of the first set of NFL guys that I can remember really bursting on to the scene social media wise gaining lots of attraction and followers. Though only one championship, this team was a bandwagon go to as a kid, a hype train with new flashy uniforms and defensive plays and a loud mouth at corner. Along with the crowd noise. Nothing like this team and point in time as a kid
The Carroll era was absolutely rewarding. We watched a 5-11 team get totally rebuilt with youth that were actually a very dangerous team in 2011. They had at least 3 heartbreaker losses, even with TJack at QB. The 2nd half of the season was absolutely entertaining to see the improvement. All we needed was a functional QB.
I remember thinking the good times would last forever... As a Seattle native the LOB team taught me to appreciate when your team is dominant appreciate it. I doubt the Hawks will ever be this good again. I tried to soak in UW football this year, knowing that this is probably as good as it will ever get.
That three year Seahawk run from 12-14 was like a Shakespearian epic, such success, such drama, ups and downs…and then capped off by the most painful of losses. Even then, they were truly a privilege to witness. While not quite achieving a dynasty, they were still one of the greatest teams of all time.
The Super Bowl Parade was a crazy day, whole entire city shut down. The fact that the people there outnumbered the city's population tells you how much it meant for us.
Great video, very well done, and I appreciate all the work that went into it… but man, am I tired of looking back at the LOB years. It’s been over a decade since we won the super bowl. Hopefully our new coach and new team can give us something new to celebrate.
Man I was in high school during these years. The most dominant team in the league from 2012-2016. 4 straight seasons of the number one ranked defense. Unheard of.
