You'd be disappointed to learn that EasyJet offsets all its European flights... they pollute less than your train. Moreover, the fuel consumption of today's airplanes is very low, often less than a car, when compared to the fuel consumption per passenger.
@@hugo414 How are they going to pollute less than electric trains powered by nuclear energy (in France)?? Meanwhile in Singapore our long-distance train station (Woodlands Train Checkpoint) is even further from downtown than our Changi Airport, & due to congestion at the neighbouring Woodlands Checkpoint, buses that usually serve the station sometimes skip it I heard (the nearest connecting MRT (subway/metro) station is ~1km away & ~50min ride from downtown). It's possible that our government would, by human nature, lack the incentive to improve this aspect of travel as it would facilitate more Singaporeans' travel to neighbouring Malaysia & spend there instead of locally, causing a outflow of money from our local economy.

Your videos are fantastic about these trains In South Africa we have a VERY VERY bad railway system as they steel the rail tracks and the copper cables for the signal system. The say it could take ten years to get the system working properly again
The competition has begun; in first week Ouigo carried more average pepole with 5 services in each direction, when Renfe has more than double services in each direction. It's a change or it's curiosity for new things? We'll see. Capacity; a french Duplex in normal configuration (First or XL and second classes) can carry about 27-29% more pepole than a S-103 Velaro, the mainforce on Barcelona - Madrid HSL. In Renfe, only the new Avril's by Talgo will carry more pepole on a trainset than Velaros. Before Ouigo, train has catched a bit more than a half passengers in Barcelona - Madrid travel. Plane travel between the cities is still demanded, for connections and for some business (convention center is much closer to the airport than Puerta de Atocha station) The toll for using the infraestructure is calculated in a basis of the route, stations served and services offered. There is discussion for changing the toll schema, and one of the proposals take into account the capacity of the trains. Sorry if it has been bit long.
Spain will enjoy a third high-speed lowcost train service starting March 2022, which means prices will drastically fall and more people will choose the train compared to the airplane. For 9€ you get from downtown Madrid to downtown Barcelona in around 2h30min. Simply amazing!

Congrats for the great video Simply Railway! But I've to say a few things, just to make it clear enough. I've to say that it is quite shameful for SNCF that they're taking any type of pride of operating in Spain with no problems at all because of ADIF's clear and fair process of homologating and testing train precedure. Meanwhile they're puttling too many complicated rules and steps so that no other operators can run their trains in France. That's not fair. Neither Renfe or Trenitalia are baing able to pperate their trains on the LGV's because SNCF Réseau's questionable "policies". No one is capable to undersatand hoy a Frecciarrossa 1000 or an AVE S-100 is not allowed to operate on the LGV Est (specially the AVE S-100) when Alstom in this case has built and designed this train in a very simillar way as other TGV's that are actually able to run with any problems. Alstom has been working with Renfe for many years to make this train run anywhere in France and they can't figure out how to make the S-100 work on that particulate LGV, and this is well known by train enthusiasts that there must be something going on with SNCF's "corrupt" decisions, not with the rolling stock itself. If SNCF wants to take pride of how good their business is, and how good Ouigo and other products are, thery have to be fair and clear and allow other operators in the HST market in France so they can show that they're better or whatever they want. It's about all having the same chances and opportunities. Cheers!
Renfe is even not able to launch a railway company on their own market. And now is trying to go on French rails with 30 years old trains and is surprised to be declined, that’s funny. It is not corruption, just a fair policy.
@@guillaumedu971 Well those trains have been allowed to run in certain parts of the French network for almost 10 years now. But somehow not in the LGV Est. Also, for the record SNCF has some trains that are older than the S-100 and they can run without any issues whatsoever. Also...how is it possible that the ETR-1000 and other models that are "not 30 years old like u say"(Bombardier Zefiro) had to wait almost 10 years to be able to run in France? And these two are just an example. We'll see what happens with the Talgo Avril. There is just one word to define SNCF Reseau's policies: "corrupt". The spanish minister of transportation has asked the french government to investigate this and the European commission to open un an investigation, but I'm not sure if it's going to help. Just yo be clear one more time: it doesn't matter how old the train is as long as it meets all the technical, safety and security requierments. I'd recommend you to get informed about this situation instead of saying things that make no sense in any way.

Not to mention that such as in France, they are not operating in Spain currently. I understand that safety and security requirements are not an easy deal for non-French companies but on the other hand, with open-access model, the French market is easier and less risky than other markets. @@guillaumedu971 I perfectly know that Trenitalia can now operate in France, and my critique said that it took them too long to get the certificate for no reason, and that's the pure and honest truth. Also, I've been reading and getting informed about SNCF Reseau's policies, and I cannot find a reason why Alstom that has built hundreds of TGV's for SNCF can't figure out how one of their variants (AVE S-100) can't run on a particular railway. It's all bullshit and you have got to admit that, even if you support SNCF as an operator. And last but not least, if you say that SNCF is risking so much money in new marketd with a "new business model" that isn't really new because it's a copied model from the airline industry, you also have got to allow other operators to run their trains do they can invest money on other countries as well! In Germany, Flix train was even fully out of service due to "lack of demand". Therefore those operators should be seen complementary instead of seeing them as the future of train service.
They are complementary. Renfe will run even more services than it did before, and other operators will complement the service with their own services.
Awesome 600 km for 9€ is such a deal! Here in Germany you get a high speed ticket for €18 on a very lucky day
Woaw ! Amazing luxury, clean I will go soon for vacations ! Thanks for share this video 👍🇺🇸
In a place where we have no high-speed trains worthy of the designation at all, the idea that there would actually be active *competition* in high-speed passenger rail service somewhere is pretty amazing...
What place is that if I may ask?
@@osasunaitor 'murica for sure
An excellent tripreport!! You always do them with excellent quality. Thanks for mentioning me in the video. See you next time when you travel to Barcelona!!
Great video on the new ouigo Spain service it is good to have competition and also the cheapness of the price means more people can afford it. It is also good you managed to arrange for your freinds to film it for you at the time
i love Spain one of my fabret country in europe,, ,,now im stuck at my city Kuala Lumpur cannot fly anymore so sad during covic 19,,next time when i been in spain i want try this speed train just take almost 3 hour travel from Barcelona to Madrid??,,,620km???,,wowww,,,
Merci, and thanks for that Thibault (and Tom & Seb). That is really grand there! It is clear that SNCF is on a winner here. 👍🏻
In fact, many on Ouigo Espana's Facebook page said when are heading to the other destinations and doing the Paris-Barcelona service! 🚅😁
Whatever next? Italy, Germany?
Such a beautiful and silent video with comments! You just earned yourself a subscriber!
We need lots more high speed low fare trains to replace the high CO2 emitting Ryanair and easyJet
In Germany, CO2 emission is less than 1g per person per kilometer for trains due to Deutsche Bahn's electricity coming 100% from renewable sources while CO2 emission for planes inside countries are 214g per person per kilometer.
Therefore, it simply isn't true to say that planes pollute less than trains.

@@hugo414 The train will be the most eco-friendly choice ever.
@@hugo414 No that's not true. If the train is dissel powered ok, but in the case of electric train, they even pollute less than cars

Beautiful and high quality video thanks for sharing love from Southeast Asia 💕
Awesome video these my best and cutest train both SNCF and OUIGO train my dream express train....🙌👏👏👏👏👏👏
Thanks for the excellent trip review :)
7:07 I somehow expected him to be recording in that place, right after Castellbisbal and before Martorell. XD It's a great place to record the trains, altought a bit of a hike to get there. XD
Great video! It's awesome to see a review of ouigo so soon!
I love your passion for train travel!
Your videos are fantastic about these trains
In South Africa we have a VERY VERY bad railway system as they steel the rail tracks and the copper cables for the signal system.
Plane travel between the cities is still demanded, for connections and for some business (convention center is much closer to the airport than Puerta de Atocha station)
The toll for using the infraestructure is calculated in a basis of the route, stations served and services offered. There is discussion for changing the toll schema, and one of the proposals take into account the capacity of the trains.
Sorry if it has been bit long.
Excellent review!! Will definitely help to inform my travel plans, thank you 😊
I’m moving to Barcelona soon and its good to know the train to Madrid is so cheap and fast!
16:30 was more like an “up yours” sign than a hi or peace ✌️ sign.
For an English yes but the difference between the two is mostly unknown elsewhere.
again a nice and interesting video!! muchas gracias!
Spain will enjoy a third high-speed lowcost train service starting March 2022, which means prices will drastically fall and more people will choose the train compared to the airplane.
For 9€ you get from downtown Madrid to downtown Barcelona in around 2h30min. Simply amazing!
Ilsa is planning a high speed service between Madrid and Barcelona, but as far as I know, they will focus on the same market than Renfe with AVE product rather than ouigo
BEAUTIFUL train set...HIDEOUS livery. Pink and blue??? Really??? Those head rests were starting to give me a migraine. Nice, fast and quiet though and very modern looking...if a bit cramped. (but I'm spoiled by Amtrak comfort levels) I'm loving your channel btw, and now officially SUBSCRIBED!
Lord!!!!! what a station!!!!! In India our airports are like your railway station......extraordinary.................From India.
Cheers!
That's right. It will be interesting to see how ouigo and avlo coexist to see if we are indeed impacted by the lack of competition here in France.
@@mauroizquierdo9544 Trenitalia is authorized to operate in France: www.autorite-transports.fr/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/notification-thello-trafic-international-avec-desserte-interieure.pdf
Probably with the covid and the last year accident in Italy they preferred to take more time. Not to mention that such as in France, they are not operating in Spain currently.
I understand that safety and security requirements are not an easy deal for non-French companies but on the other hand, with open-access model, the French market is easier and less risky than other markets.
SNCF is the only company that is taking the risk to operate on a new market during the pandemic, with modern Euroduplex trains and a totally new business model.
SNCF invested €600m in Spain, how much have been invested in France by other companies?

Also I invite you to visit SNCF Réseau website: www.sncf-reseau.com/en
And read the DRR: www.sncf-reseau.com/sites/default/files/2021-01/Document%20principal%20-%20DRR%202022%20V1_EN.pdf
Renfe wants to operate in France and offer a new business model and SNCF Reseau is not allowing them. It's a shame.
In Canada, between Montreal and Halifax there are 1000km: 16 hours of train...🤔 ; Montreal - New York, ~600km and the border: 13 hours of train...
That is some lightning fast speed💪🤩🇪🇸

The spanish Ouigo is better than french!😍❤️❤️❤️❤️
Vite !!
Let the "Game of Trains" begin!
will try this.. i think more capacity with double deck.. love this
Waiting to see Trenitalia's FRECCIAROSSA service coming into service in Spain and France shortly
Frecciarossa is supposed to open services in France? When and which lines?
At least on the French network they'll be able to run at 320 like TGV's.
@@KyrilPG Milan Paris, should start in September, as far as Spain is concerned, we will have to wait until 2023 as the trains for Spain are still under construction. both services will be carried out by the Frecciarossa 1000

If you look at the front it should say of AVE S-112 it's Renfe Spanish National railways and the Ouigo is SNCF. Basically Elipsos service.
Beautiful video! An avlo and ilsa review would be nice too! Maybe compare all 4 services :)
4 services! since Ilsa (Trenitalia) will be operating another low cost service next year :D
@@DIASDEMUSICA ILSA’s service won’t be low-cost. They’ll go with a traditional structure, as AVE, though prices will most likely be cheaper. Similar to Italo’s service in Italy.
omg ima go to spain and try all 4 since its high speed rail market will be more interesting than italy´s or france´s ! those are amazing news!
Do ouigo have to pay to run their services in Spain? Because if RENFE launch avlo is it not essentially the same product?
Yes, they have to pay to run on the tracks, but so does Renfe as well. The difference between both products comes down to who owns each service (Renfe and SNCF) and the services offered on board.
You are hit 100000 sub! Congratulations

Ahh yesss finally.....I was waiting for your upload only !!!!😇
Why was cafe closed? COVID? I agree that hot pink is loud and tacky. I prefer relaxing colors for a relaxing trip. Thanks for sharing.
Beautiful video, greetings 🚂👍🙋♂️
Curious to see if all these competing railway companies do any more than just try to skim the market between a few of the largest cities. If it works out like the airline deregulation here, it will lead to cheaper fares on a few major routes but much less competition and higher prices on less-travelled routes.
It will be between major cities and wherever there is publicly funded commuter traffic.
This is uptown stuff for an American on rails...Very cool livery too...

Imagine doing this in France - a foreign operator competing against SNCF! Unthinkable, of course - French companies going abroad, easy - foreign company going into France, impossible!
Yeah, looks like that European rules about rail competition don't stand for certain countries
It’s great it’s gonna make the spanish national stuff cheaper 😈 compete or die its better for the public regardless
It is perfectly possible. Competition is allowed in France but no competitor has yet started servicing French railways.
The pink on those head rests makes me think of Pepto Bismal. It is too much.
Congratulations on your 100K subscribers @SimplyRailway👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thank you so much 😀
Watching this video made me think Air France may retired its A380s too soon. They could refit them with 800 economy seats and sell $29 NYC-Paris tickets. I bet those flights will be packed.
Cheap seats don't make the money. The seats at the front do.
Nice video, but good lord, that pink is hideous. I don't know if Italy has opened up its rail system to competition, but the Italians will never allow that color scheme within their borders. 😉🍕
It has, since 2013. Italo is a private operator.
Great trip report
It's a damn shame I won't live to see low cost or even high cost high speed trains in USA.
Sam, there's no even electric line between North East and Florida. They have to switch to diesel locomotives in W. DC.
