Thanks for the video with no talking and bs! If you can't keep up, just pause. This is for people who already know photoshop, but want to learn a new trick quickly.
Goes way too fast to have any idea what is going on. That and the complete lack of any explanations makes this all about showing off, and not about instructing.
If you don't know how to slow down the speed, then this video isn't for you. You may look for a very simple one like photoshop for dummies. This is one of the most instructive videos ever seen on RUclips.
Tip - if it's too fast, just slow down the playback in the video settings. Selected brushes are add ons. Artisa 23, your PS skills are nice, but the instruction skills are just terrible. Slow down a bit, mate.
Okay guys so I think I should explain what artisa 23 is doing here so you'll stop leaving negative comments. This is considered a painting, but its not the painting y'all are used to. Its called Smudge Painting, it doesnt take skill, but its fun to do and leaves an amazing affect at the end and it looks as if you did a very realistic painting but instead you go over the photo with a great tool called a Smudger. When you finish smudging it, it looks as if you did an amazing painting. Some think this is cheating, but its not supposed to be. Its an edit. Think about it. Its perfect for beginners and you're always guaranteed lovely results ^^
@@deniseteague9854 Exactly! And the technique she is using, if you google "is smudge painting cheating?" Every one will tell you ABSOLUTELY NOT. Its not tracing, it's not copyrighted, it's a form of painting. Why cant everyone else realize that? Literally I'm about to give everyone an art lesson😂 but I agree with what you said
Exactly it’s smudge paint not digital painting, very different things. I don’t begrudge anyone doing what they enjoy, & smudging is enjoyable for some…. But call it what it is, don’t make out your doing a painting from scratch. It doesn’t use any skills that an artist uses…. I’d stick it more in either photo editing. It’s much more to do with photography than anything.
It looks like a brush they created themselves. It looks like a regular soft brush with assorted settings applied to it. I tried to replicate it but can't figure it out.
It's all in the brushes he has customized and saved AND how he applies them. Watch him work through the progression of flesh and hair... 2 separate brushes for those... he avoids the detail items so they retain some sharpness, brush stroke direction is key here... paint filters can only do so much to an image... he works the flesh and hair in the direction you would paint these if you working in a natural medium. Lots if post color work and touch ups, nice background, again a cloud brush and working different colors to get what he wants. Nice light hair blending from a background layer. Look at how much hair he paints back in the mustache with lots of different colors to create that contrast and depth... did I miss a blur filter of some sort on that layer? Careful with the color pop on those cheeks and eyes... dangerously close to sad clown art. Nice work! Now where can I get your brush presets?
@@LionArtStudio I would disagree. Often people with Practiced skills can make it look easier than it is. And your right, it is just pushing pixels… just like it’s just spreading paint. Now let’s see how many viewers can do it? But, you got what you came for a response and bump for your channel. Enjoy
@@lincoln3x7 I’m a digital illustrator, I know exactly what it is….. & it confuses the general public/clients when people profess that their smudging is painting. To create a painting/drawing there’s a boatload of fundamental skills that take years to learn. Composition, values, lighting, colour theory, perspective, anatomy & so on. I don’t begrudge anyone doing this type of craft, but it’s actually harmful to my industry when these are palmed off as hand crafted art. It simply isn’t. It affects artists who’ve spent a great deal of their life, studying & practising to get to the point they are employable….. & I truely don’t want to sound petty, but seeing day after day & people get the impression all digital art is created this way….. well sometimes I break & say something. If it’s posted as what it is (smudging), go for it, just don’t make it out to be what it’s not.
@@LionArtStudio I explained exactly what it was and nothing more… everyone can see that, nothing is hidden. Why is his channel or technique worth pointing out as a problem? Because I liked it? After 30 years as a graphic designer, I appreciated the end result and thought I would point out some of the process he was using so others might understand that it’s not as easy as it looks…and help them create the same style if that’s what they want to do. I’m well aware of differences between illustrating and working some filters and brushes over a photo… but that really over simplifies what his technique is here and he should be given credit for that. I remember all the natural media artists taking shots at those of us that worked in a digital medium… we we’re second class artists. I’ve seen every how to, cheap trick and short cut video you can dream up. It’s a tough market out there for artists and illustrators… a global market now with lots of competition. I’m heading to your channel next to see what your doing. Cheers and good luck.
@@lincoln3x7 yeah your right, I may have been a bit tough on this. It’s the digital Painting in title that got me, he is showing the process he’s using so I am wrong to have made a comment on this. Bad day, which is unfair to this artist. You’ve called me out & I am wrong…. So I’ve changed the initial comment & thanks for your reply.
I think people need to realise that while it doesn't take great drawing/painting skills, smudge painting is a really good tool for understanding edges, colour, and blending

I think most people are just butthurt that beginners can use tricks like that to make better art than they can.

@@aliendesign2023 It doesn't matter if the parrot is smart as long as he is able to create good art
