Glad they came out with 1/1 camera rather than flooding those cheap reduction cameras. At the moment only two 1/1 cameras have removal LCD screen. Do you know if the camera provides live-view (on computer /or android) when tethered to a computer (at same time camera LCD's live-view)? From the look at those lenses, they came from Tamron.
Very inspiring video...thank you. I LOVE my Pentax K-3, and my QS-1, and have been on the fence between waiting for the successor to the K-3ii or pulling the trigger now on the K-1. Cheers...Dennis
I just love Pentax 📷 📷📷📷📷 cameras. Though Pentax has been late to enter in full frame DSLR market but nevertheless there are many Pentax lovers who will come back to Pentax as I did. I'm hoping to see an upgrade of Pentax K1 mark ll in near future. All the best to Pentax.
+1barnet1 No it isn't.Actual sensor stabilisation hasn't been available in video mode since the K-7/k-7 series From the K-30/k-01/k-3 etc onwards they have only offered digital stabilisation using 'Movie SR' which warps your footage to hell and can't be corrected in post. I'd like real video sensor stabilisation back, you know like Sony and Olympus do.
Fabulous camera!worth waiting, the price is also reasonable. I'll absolutely buy it as soon as they sell it. BTW, anyone in melbourne interested in my K5iis+Da*1650+55-300?
Promising start to a new RUclips photography channel. The second half of the video has the best graphics I have ever seen from any photo channel. You can pause and pull info off it, it is that clean and crisp. I think you guys need a better video camera though, the first half of the video, whatever you are using is panicking with the dynamic range of a British spring day .
Thanks for the feedback.....we had a technical issue at the start of the video (we shot in 720 vs 1080.....easily done......😳 ! ) Really appreciate your feedback though and we'll work harder to make our videos better ongoing 👍🏻
+Stamatis Kritikos - Yes we are happy to ship outside of the UK. Please email sales@cliftoncameras.co.uk and we will be happy to email you full details of how to place an order.
***** I hope they lower it to about 200-250$ I am a bit tight with my budget and I am an enthusiast, a hardcore enthusiast. But not a professional who gets paid for his photos.
+Sukhy Mann There is a 50mm 1.8 with AF. It is right now available for $90, which is an amazing price! www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/864663-REG/Pentax_smc_DA_50mm_f_1_8.html It is not yet confirmed as a Full Frame (K-1) compatible lens, in Full-Frame mode. It will definitely work with the camera, at least in crop mode. I've also read that it does cover the actual FF image circle, so you should be good, as far as I know. :)
+Benjamin Jarvis Right, but people have used that lens on Film-era cameras with no moire. Don't know for sure yet, but hopefully if you set the K-1 to FF Mode and put that lens on it'll work alright. Hopefully we can find out in the next few weeks. :)
Hi Sayedur. If you were to use Pentax crop lenses the camera will recognise this and will adjust the resolution automatically so you won't get the full advantage of the full framed sensor.
Depends a bit on the lens. Some crop lenses cover most of the FF image circle. Fortunately while the K-1 and an auto crop setting it also lets you choose whether to shoot in FF or crop mode (then you can crop in post if needed). I have the DA70 f2.4 Ltd to be quite good in FF.
Pentax seemed to have stopped short of the amount of focus points and that falls well short of all the competitors. Otherwise looks to be a nice camera. Not one that will cause anyone to ditch their current brand for though.
ISO range means shit. Honestly, I'm not too impressed with this camera. Which is unfortunate. I'm hoping someone does a good, real-world review of this camera as soon as possible. I want to see if the ISO range means the ISO between 100 and, say, 6400 is much better than what's currently out there, or similar. No-low-pass filter is bad for video shooters, who would need that to reduce moire. I understand it has a simulated moire for video shooting, but it's video shooting mode sounds terrible for a camera in this range. 1080 at 30fps? That's it? To me, this sounds like a good buy for someone who has Pentax lenses that are full frame lenses, not DX. I really REALLY hope I'm proven wrong with real-world reviews, but so far I'm still leaning towards buying a Nikon d750.
+Rejor111 Also disappointed with the lenses they are coming out for this camera. One looks like a rebadged Tameron lens that is 400 dollars more expensive.
+Jack Lewis pre production model... most manufactures wont let them show images, esp. RAW files until the final firmware is on there and production model is just about released.
This is a review? No, this is a preview. Which doesn't make sense because he has the camera in his hands. I can go to any photo website and get the specs. I want to see real world picture samples and feedback.
I only clicked on this video because of the thumbnail, which shows a FAKE picture of the LCD titled right up, so that if you were looking down to the top of the camera you'd still be able to see the LCD properly. The range of motion from the weird articulation seems to be a lot less than that, however, and it's misleading to show it articulating to a degree that it can't actually manage. I wish it had the same articulation as Canon high-end point-and-shoots, where the LCD can flip out and then turn a complete 180 degrees in either direction, which really does give you the full range of articulation. Why they went with the weird strut system, I have no idea, apart from maybe trademarks on the Canon style preventing them from using that method.
There is some serious flaws with this absolute BS review ..... The lack OF shown the pics taken by the said camera you are MEANT TO BE REVIEWING ... I know this video is 5 yrs old ... but when you also mentiioned the price .. the camera certainly hasn't devalued it's increased ... 1,799 your website list price .. compared the price of 1,599 said in the video I can't even afford ,,lol
Beautiful camera. Really liking the Pentax 67 II style prism housing, it's like the 67 II and K5 had a baby named the K-1.
+Markus Arike From what I have seen that doesn't just house a prism it also houses the GPS and Wi-Fi.
Thank you, great Review....
Loyal Pentax user still own my Pentax K20D w/ 2 Sigmas 18-124
A camera for landscape photographs! Definitely my next camera.
this is more like an ad for Pentax not a review, but as far as the camera goes, I like that it has Ibis
I have the k1 II and K70. Love them both.
Glad they came out with 1/1 camera rather than flooding those cheap reduction cameras.

From the look at those lenses, they came from Tamron.
That's a very helpful review, looks like a great camera, a reason to take the step up from the excellent K-3 II and a Pentax through and through.

Can't wait to get my hands on one!
Nice video.
Is there real sensor shift stabilisation during video mode on this camera? Or does it have that 'Movie SR' rubbish again?
Thanks.
Pentax ibis always works in video.
Don't get your hopes up though. It's still a Pentax.
Expect rubbish quality in video.

ME Super! That brings back memories
+blackgnosticspeaks I still work with that camera. Great design.
Fantastic sneek preview :))
Sounds like it'll be a hell of a camera. They just need to make some more lenses for it. A few primes seem in order.
Great preview, thanks! I cannot wait for your production model review. Do you ship to other EU countries (eg Greece)? ;)
+Stamatis Kritikos - Yes we are happy to ship outside of the UK. Please email sales@cliftoncameras.co.uk and we will be happy to email you full details of how to place an order.
Excellent review. Thanks for sharing. I'm dabbling between Sony mirrorless and K1. I'm leaning more towards K1 for its price and battery performance.
I just wish they could come out with a Pentax 67D... I love my 67ii, but scanning film is such a PITA
is there a 50mm f1.8 with AF? and what's the price?

thank you for the preview
Thank you for such a great review.
What about using my k-5 crop lenses. Using them on K-1, do they crate the crop factor? Will I lose the 'full frame' advantage there?
Hi Sayedur. If you were to use Pentax crop lenses the camera will recognise this and will adjust the resolution automatically so you won't get the full advantage of the full framed sensor.

Wow. Nice camera. Looks like a workhorse, something you'd keep for a LONG time.
hi, do you know the Pentax K-1 LCD screen size? mm x mm? thanks
+Thomas Huang we have been able to work out the dimensions of the 3.2 Diagonal LCD, in a 3:2 aspect ratio, on the K-1 would be 67mm x 45mm.
+Clifton Cameras thank you :)
This is an excellent review, thanks.
I JUST upgraded to 5d mkiii about a week ago... i heard about this camera today. kinda regretting the 5d lol
how to order?
Pentax seemed to have stopped short of the amount of focus points and that falls well short of all the competitors. Otherwise looks to be a nice camera. Not one that will cause anyone to ditch their current brand for though.
i just wish the video quality on them would be atleast canon quality level
my biggest gripe to getting this is the 33 focus points all crammed in the middle, but there is so much you get for the value.
I know you're legit when your ME Super still has the JCII-PASSED gold oval sticker on the front top left corner.
Very nice Camera
grate video, thanks
leave it to my dream....
Me super my first camera back in yr 75
Great!

Give us real life examples, not just the usual features
too bad you can't use Nikon lenses with this.
Great except you didn't fire a single shot with it. I want to hear the shutter at all speeds.

A metal frame covered in magnesium?? I think not
Boy say no lies
Is that ur actual voice
Bagi dong...mau...!
instead of saying it's easy or it takes good pictures why don't you show us. What's the point of this video otherwise
+Jack Lewis pre production model... most manufactures wont let them show images, esp. RAW files until the final firmware is on there and production model is just about released.

The camera body looks nice but the lenses are pretty ugly. I prefer the cleaner look of the Tamron and Sigma new lenses
No 4k video and those new lenses are rebranded tamaron lenses...

It's not fake. It flips all the way just like the picture.

A camera review with such a bad picture quality of the video...
+Anthony Reid It looks like they compressed it or something. Surely not 1080p
Blurry images. Poor ad.
I already had pentax, years ago.
The images were better!
