    *I originally thought my microphone was broken but what actually happened is my car got switched to "stealth mode" on the exhaust and the valves were closed. I only noticed it at VIR when my speed on the straights was down.
    315/30/18 Square Hoosier A7, Hawk 60 F/R brake pads, SRF Brake Fluid, DSSV Suspension, -3.1 - 1/32 F, -2.4 R + 1/32 R, SPL Semi Trailing Arms, SPL Upper arm Rear, BMR toe rod, 75lb ballast (3901 min weight), no engine modifications, stock power.
    Came back to attempt to reclaim my lost record at CMP but fell short by 1 tenth. Was still able to take home 1st for both days. I was able to find a lot more time by carrying 5 more MPH through the kink and also turn 3. I lost speed in the long sweeping sections and turn 14. With fresh tires a 36 is definitely possible here with my car, I'll just have to try again in November.
    Oh yeah, I broke the mic again, sounds like trash.

    Last question for you - Ive got Apex SM10 in 18 x 11 et 7 for front 18 x 11 et 35 rear have used Goodyear 3R’s great grip poor longevity- so what’s your recommendation for tires I want to go 315’s all 4 corners so was thinking Toyo RR , Nankang Sportnex CR-S ? What are you running ?

    • @SpyderRacing
      @SpyderRacing  6 месяцев назад

      If you want similar grip to the 3R's with better longevity then the Hoosier R7 works well. Right now I use a mix of tires, for lapping around the track I'll normally use my OEM SC3 tires. For time trial I use my Hoosier A7 tires, but that is strictly for time trial and I take them off after I'm happy with my lap.
      This year I am running with gridlife which requires 200 TW tire, I purchased some Nankang CRS V2's in 315/30/18. I've used some old Nankangs before and they seem to be a good tire, so that might be a good option for you. I still think the best price to performance is the OEM SC3 tires but that's if you're running the OEM wheels.
      If you're on 18's I think your best bet for HPDE is probably the nankangs or bridgestone RE71RS, only problem with bridgestone is they don't come in 315.

      Hey James, it was nice having you. You have a really good car and you're driving it well, just takes track time to get more comfortable near the limits.

    How do you like the DSSV compared to the mag ride?

    • @SpyderRacing
      @SpyderRacing  7 месяцев назад

      Honestly doesn't really make the car any faster. DSSV is just necessary with Hoosier A7. Car leans too much on stock magride suspension with sticky tires.

    How are you restraining yourself in the stock seats ? I can’t get fully restrained and I’m bracing my self with my legs bit I’m 6’ 225 lb

      I'm not on stock seats anymore, I have proper seats in the car.

    • @jerryputerbaugh5437
      @jerryputerbaugh5437 6 месяцев назад

      👍 that makes a huge difference over OEM seats - did you go with a partial cage 4 pt with 5 pt restraints for driver & passenger or just driver ? Thnx Jerry

    • @SpyderRacing
      @SpyderRacing  6 месяцев назад +1

      @jerryputerbaugh5437 I started out with driver seat only but ended up doing both. I'm using a 4 point roll cage from RSR and a 6 point belt system with brey krause base and sparco seat.

      Christian - thank you - guessing you started out with completely stock and then started adding pieces to the car switched - I’m at that point where I’m going to 18’s going to Vorshlag chamber plates and Hoosiers/Toyo RR’s only because I want the most heat cycles as possible - I’m a Porsche driving instructor and I want to be more competitive with my Porsche friends when on track Tired of giving point byes but I’m kinda on a budget this year so what where the most significant changes you made that improved your lap times ?

    • @SpyderRacing
      @SpyderRacing  5 месяцев назад

      @jerryputerbaugh5437 my car is still mostly stock performance wise. I have the zle suspension on it because the Hoosier a7 tires were causing rubbing with the stock suspension. But that's really the only performance mod I have. Alignment, 18in wheels and Hoosier A7s. They can be worth as much as 3 seconds on a track or as little as 1.5 vs SC3s(depending on the track). I might try aero or power next but still not sure.

      @@SpyderRacing thank you! Safe to go with 10quarts? Or a bit more to top off. Do I need to worry about oil starvation?

    • @SpyderRacing
      @SpyderRacing  7 месяцев назад +1

      @princeontrack4647 I have some extra laying around that I've had to use before, but my car doesn't really go through oil very fast. I am changing it every 15 track hours. I've had to top up in the past but not very often. It's probably good to have an extra one but 10qts in my car gets me to the top of the dipstick.

    • @jerryputerbaugh5437
      @jerryputerbaugh5437 6 месяцев назад +2

      FYI - Was advised to top off plus a half quart over for track weekends - surprisingly that extra 1/2 quart is used up /ingested by engine after 230 track mile weekend it’s back down to “ full “ mark on dip stick

    Do you mind sharing your mic and helmet mount setup? I've been debating switching to helmet cam but have stayed away primarily for sound quality issues.
    Looking forward to meeting and competing at Gridlife CMP!

    • @SpyderRacing
      @SpyderRacing  7 месяцев назад

      So I just have a DJI Osmo action 4 on my helmet and then I have a separate recording device taking audio from above the exhaust. I'm actually going to upgrade the audio setup because the one I currently have keeps breaking (as you can see in this video, it sounds like crap). I'll send you pictures of what it looks like on discord. The cheapest way to do it would be to hard mount the camera somewhere in the cockpit and buy the purple panda microphone (from amazon) that will hook directly into the gopro/DJI camera.

    • @WaksmanRacing
      @WaksmanRacing 7 месяцев назад +1

      @@SpyderRacing so you're still using a wired mic that's hooked up to your helmet cam?

    • @SpyderRacing
      @SpyderRacing  7 месяцев назад

      @@WaksmanRacing No that wouldn't work because the wire would get in the way. That's part of the reason I separate them, I put the audio and video together in software. You can only do that if it's not mounted to your face :D
      Although if you really wanted to you could do a wireless mic to the DJI/Gopro combo. I think Rode has a good one.

    • @WaksmanRacing
      @WaksmanRacing 7 месяцев назад +1

      @@SpyderRacing whoops, I totally ignored the part where you said "separate recording device" lol. Interesting setup. I personally use an olympus mic wired up to my camera already but I got rid of the harness bar where it mounted over the offseason and it's a little bit of a struggle to find another suitable mounting point in the corvette.
      Can you link me to your helmet mount setup? The angle you use is better than most helmet cams I see so I may try it as a backup option.

    Was the DSSV setup a factory option for this car?

    • @SpyderRacing
      @SpyderRacing  7 месяцев назад +1

      It is not. I bought one that came off a ZLE and installed it on this car. It bolts to the exact same locations. The only thing you need to do is swap out suspension control modules. I purchased one on ebay from a 2018 ZLE. Plug and play, super easy.
