Yea Horned King is extremely hard to beat, even with correct gameplay. I feel his fate deck just isn't strong enough and only 2 cards can really stop him from winning. I would love to see Ratigan in a game!
I thought it was so weird that you guys nicely explained how to play the Cauldron Born and then immediately did not do that 😂 I am only 6 minutes or so in so I didn’t know if you addressed it in the video or not but I was terribly confused!
I have also found Cruela to be a very underwhelming Villain in 1v1, the best way I have found to play her is to frequently use 'That Devil Woman' to move Heroes to Radcliffe House and just forget about them, you do cover up one activate action but you have 'Get The Job Done' to perform an activate action and also 'Whatever It Takes' to perform a covered action. 'Bought And Paid For' is an effect that can capture a puppy token which can be recovered with 'The Devil take It'. It's winnable but it's hard and you need the game to go on long enough that the Heroes are moved and no longer a threat, it does mean any time you're fated you're getting hit with the fate effects more often but at least you have your actions free to perform.
You were talking about how Cruela only has two ally cards. I found the same problem with Ursula , that only has her eels . And you need to use the binding contract to get them of your board.
Cruella CAN be played in 1V1 if you are razor sharp and ruthless. Ignore the heroes, push them to the Milk Farm in a stack. Never ever use Jasper / Horace to Vanquish heroes unless (1) they are covering your Activate actions, (2) you have the Fireplace Poker. Keep ignoring heroes, seriously! Roadster is essential, not the Telephone. After you patiently build up 99 or more puppy tokens on your board then SWEEP THEM UP using Roadster and Jasper to grab two tokens per turn. This method really helps dodge Flew The Coop from your Fate deck. You’ll be surprised how you can dodge Fate actions this way and quickly amass puppy tokens (if you’re lucky with multiple 22 value tokens it’ll be much faster of course). Thanks guys!

Again, so many problems with how this was designed. That info should be on the card. Why would they put "Cauldron Born may only be played when The Power of The Black Cauldron is showing," specifically on the card if that really isn't true? Issue after issue after issue. Just want to bring to your attention that Activating your Allies is not the ONLY way to capture puppies as Cruella. There's also Bought and Paid For, which allows you to capture puppy tokens at Cruella's current location. Therefore, there is no way to stop Cruella from doing what she needs to do completely. Bought and Paid For is a solid backup plan if the Activate actions are covered by Heroes, and The Devil Take It can make it easier to grab Bought and Paid For when it's needed. Trying to play Cruella 1v1 is not quite as hard as you're making it out to be, but I can see your point that there is significant difficulty.
Also, Whatever It Takes allows you to use one action that is covered by a Hero, and Get the Job Done allows you to use an Activate action. All of these are solid backup plans. Trust me, Cruella has PLENTY of options to complete her goal.

Cruella is a slow but powerful villain. Horned King is similar. The reason this game was so "lopsided" was because Horned King was played incorrectly, and Cruella was played 90% correctly, but just poorly. ...which is fine. It's a learning curve. But don't put on the whole sore loser routine over it.
Edit: I got the rules wrong. Oops. I guess being able to deliberately jam up specific sections of the board would be a bit strong. 23:00 Heroes at a location are stacked from first played to most recent. So he must vanquish the other character before pongo, losing the poker in the process then trading into pongo.
I'm not sure where you got that rule from about stacking heroes from first played to most recent. Players have the choice at who they want to defeat first, unless there are cards on board preventing them from doing so. No rules that I'm aware of that say otherwise.

I've only just been playing lately but it seems like a good way to get the younger ones to look at games like this without trying to teach them magic too early. Cruella is really good in 1v1 but needs to be used correctly like alot of misused opportunities and keeping mind the deck. The two conditions are extremely good compare to other villians. Telephone is strong but the strongest card is the car potentially always giving you puppies where u want them. Activate can be covered but u do have card that let's you perform an activated. Three ways to play her is collect puppies early making opponents fate you wasting resources on their side, discarding until getting conditions or powerful items , or setting things up in secret before potentially getting fated. I won multiple times with cruella due to getting extra puppies and them being overwhelmed in always fateing me and me capturing another puppies in next turn or in two turns outnumbered the puppy collect supply. Jafar has similar setup that's very viable where u potentially use the items very carefully and in secret to potentially use Iago to carry lamp in one turn 2 spots and have him with lamp on position without the opponent noticing into his win condition and hoping they get Abu or Aladin so u don't win.
Yeah I'm interested to get Cruella back to the table again to "retry" and see if she works out better again later. I'm also not really sure how your opponent fating you (if you're playing as Cruella) is wasting resources for them? Since fating doesn't use any resources, you're just taking an available action, I'm not sure why you're suggesting that is wasting resources? And with Jafar, it does take him a good time to get to his win condition as well, so if you're opponent is paying attention, they should be able to keep "tabs" on you before you get too far ahead.
@@hobbiesnhappiness sorry for late reply the reason I say waste resources is bc one cruella fate deck is mostly affected once u collect puppies if u don't collect puppies and wait until u have 5 on board they have few cards that puts them back to supply. As for another reason is bc when they fate you most of all the heros don't advance in their game a good example is that most time they can't play two cards or discard or collect power in order to fate you. Most of time is 1v1 scenarios people try to cover the fate from the two positions that's on top of board with a hero so they can't fate you twice. Lotso the new villian has something similar where facing him doesn't affect him alot early on bc the effects affect the heros in play so its not good to do them.
My current storage solution is to put each villain deck and their respective fate deck into a Dragon Shield sleeve box, label the box, then store the deck boxes in a BCW box. All of the other necessary boards and pieces fit nicely back into the game box.
I played The Horned King and really nothing stopped me from winning slowed me down yeah like The Black Cauldron got flipped making me lose one Cauldron Born but i immediately powered The Black Cauldron on my next turn played my last Ancient Soldiers card & Cauldron Born on my last turn and won
Also didn't help much that my older brother was playing Loki who placed a card in my domain that gave me 2 power everytime i moved to my location with 3 power so i was rolling in that dough which helped me just play cards lol
Negative! I had only "captured" 1 puppy token in the late game. That puppy token (which was worth 11 puppies I believe) was returned to Cruella's realm off of Perditas effect. The puppy tokens you can see that are above Cruella's realm were the tokens which were only revealed through card effects. The puppy tokens need to move from the supply -> Cruella's realm -> Captured. It's a multi-step process. All of the tokens start in the "supply." The objective is to move at least 99 puppies from the "supply," to captured. Hope that helps!
I'm not sure to what time you're referring to specifically, but the flashlight doesn't have a when played ability, you have to use an activate action to use its ability.
Cruella has to take the puppy tokens from the supply, then introduce them into her "realm," then once they are in her realm, she has to capture the tokens. There were a few turns where the puppy tokens were in her realm, but she had not yet captured them
It sucks that the Horned King was played wrong but the last matchup for this should be Ratigan and Yzma. Yzma plays differently because she has 4 fate decks at each location and the only way to Fate Yzma is that you look at all of the cards and play one card from Yzma’s fate deck.
Ratigan is a lot of fun! Yeah We take these games as they come, we do our best and ultimately just try to have some fun and give our opinions on the game and the characters. We may plenty of issues with this game and card design, but I'll leave that for a separate video 🤐 We will do our best to get a Ratigan and Yzma matchup featured!
Would love to show you how to play Villainous better. Cruella is fun and can be done well in 1v1. Just need to build the engine. Twas sad seeing the HK being played so incorrectly. There are many communities that show how to play and have explained almost all the characters and how to play them very well.

Horace can capture up to one puppy token and Jasper can capture up to two puppy tokens. There is also a card that captures one token.

what are the tcg card protectors that you use for the decks? They look good quality and I'm afraid of water damage.
Since you have sleeves on the cards, how do you store them? Do they still fit in the original boxes even with the sleeves on?
