If they actually just focused on making a good game, PEOPLE WILL BUY IT. If a game is good, no matter how much it is people will still pay. Its gotten to a point where theyre just pushing buttons. I never got into warcraft, but when I saw that, I didn't think it would spread to other companies like Bungie. I used to play a lot of destiny and when they vaulted areas, planets and some weapons I was completely blown away with how cancerous this policy is. It's absolutely killing it's communities from the inside
Their excuse is so weak. I consider myself a storyboard writer working on my worldbuilding, I understand that to see any payoff, and potentially any profit, I must invest the time, resources, and effort into actually fleshing out the stories, and that profit, both from a literal financial sense and from perspective of self-fulfillment, won't come unless I make the sacrifice and actually do it. The execs want money NOW! In a perfect environment, the ratio of investment to profit would be roughly balanced. Want more profit? Up the investment. Don't want to up the investment? Be okay with stagnation or a loss of profit. But with the execs being the literal manifestation of the cardinal sin of greed, they want maximum profit for minimum investment.
What i don't like about battepass is if you miss it you will never get it and the fact that the past items are showing in the gallery are just a slap to your face
The problem that you should realize is that the original overwatch was a cannibalized game along with D4 being another cannibalized game that was thrown together using D tier staff. Basically what Blizzard has been doing is cobbeling together rejected projects or things they didnt have proper funds for, salvaging them and rebranding them with high production values so people dont notice how shallow the games are and then throw in tonnes of monetized content like skins and battlepasses. Blizzard is a hollow shell of its former self as what its basically been doing is firing highly talented people then taking their work and giving it to lower paid low skilled staff to finish the work. The results you can see and this is why Blizzard's president left the company to found another gaming company as he has lost control of his baby to activison who just exploits, lies and manipulates to the highest degree. People then dont notice this shit because they have no standards and a short attention span. Im not going to give them any more money after what they did to HOTs as its very clear that activision has a total contempt for their customers and think they can heap shit on a plate and still sell it for a premium price because of their name brand. Its basically like if Gucci got a bunch of sweatshop children to make all their shitty clothes and upsold it for 600$ while it functionally being ripped jeans with a logo on it that they have been reusing and rehashing old designs since the 1980s. The best part of Overwatch is all the porn it spawned.
The way they leash their employees around, starting and stopping projects after countless hours of overtime just to scrap all that work and it mean nothing, was more than enough for me to boycott them. This I'm sure was just the final nail in the casket for most of us
