    I never did any amigurumi before, only simple scarfs/coasters. After 3 days I ended with 15 stars. I love them

      What is a double crochet?

    • @SilientStarlight
      @SilientStarlight Год назад +4

      @@Not3HobbitsInATrenchcoatso double crochet is like single crochet but it's a bit different, in double crochet the size of your stitches get a bit taller then single crochet. You can do double crochet by doing the first grab your yarn around the hook and then your going to stick into the 4th chain, only do it in the 4th chain when your starting a row, and then your going to bring up the loop bring up the loop, what you're really doing is reaching back, scooping up the yarn, just like this pulling it back through and you now have tree loops on your hook, again pull it through the first two loops and you'll now have two loops on your hook wrap your yarn around the hook and pull it through the last two loops, you'll now have one loop on your hook and your first double crochet for this row is done. And in the same roow you don't have to start the double crochet from the 4th chain.

    If you only do two star legs, you get a cat face!! I love this pattern. Thank you!

  • @DalsyHuber
    @DalsyHuber Год назад +32

    Loved this! In case this is helpful to anyone else, you can make the stars smaller by skipping the last row of increases (right where you have 15 stitches) and start working on the points exactly as described in the video, but doing only 2 slip stitches instead of 3 in between each point!

    I've watched 2 of your videos this morning and I absolutely love them. I love your humor and that your a lazy crafter like me. I learned how to crochet starting in March when the states went into quarantine for COVID. And now I am hooked!!! I've made leg warmers, granny squares for 2 blankets. So your blocking video was awesome. Thank you! I'm currently working on snowflakes, these stars, and fingerless gloves.
    I do not read patterns very well so all that I have learned has been through your videos and video chat with my best friend who lives in Florida.
    My husband is active duty military and crocheting has already been such a huge stress relief. It will keep my hands and mind distracted during his next and upcoming deployment. Your videos will get me through the time.
    Thanks again and have a happy day.

    Pattern:
    Magic ring
    R1: 5sc in magic ring (5) (don't pull too tight just yet)
    R2: inc x5 (10) (now close magic ring)
    R3: [sc, inc] x5 (15)
    R4: [sc, sc, inc] x5 (20)
    R5: in the stitch where now the inc is {hdc, dc, hdc, sc} 3sl st, [{sc, hdc, dc, hdc, sc} 3sl st] x4. Fasten off
    Now make the second star. Cut longer thread to sew everything up
    Place safety eyes and embroider a smile on the star you like most
    Sew these two parts through back loops only

    To the people who are getting a square instead of a star, I think what is happening is you are missing the first single crochet after each point, so you are slip stitching in the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th stitches after each point instead of the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd stitches after each point. It's really easy to do, because that first stitch after the point sort of gets lost when you put so many stitches in one stitch. Sort of push all of those stitches to the side and look to make sure you're not accidentally skipping that first single crochet right after each of those points. I think you'll find that is where the mistake is happening.

    this is too advanced for me right now , I can get to the limbs but thats just too complicated for me right now XD. I forgot I slowed the video right down and thought to myself" Why is she talking so slow, gosh id think it was condescending if i wasn't struggling.....OH wait I slowed it down !!🤣" Thank you for the video, this shall be something I work towards 👍 I'll get it eventually
