I work for a utility locate company as a utility locator. One of the utility companies we locate for lists on their digital prints “core extraction” as a property for some fiber optic cable lines. I was curious what this meant, and nobody seemed sure, so I searched on google. This video from many years ago is one of the only I could find regarding this technique, and it is useful to know. Thanks for uploading.
Hi, what a great idea. I have a question what travels down the fibre is it data/Internet/telephone, or is it the RF signal that has been sent from the central office?.
Fiber just transports data via a laser. Think like Morse Code, but like really fast and (most times) light waves you cant see. Were talking like 1550 nm. It depends what devices are on either side of the fiber optics that decides whats going to transport it. In my case, I use switches, and transport internet. Just like a really long Cat5 Cable. Its just Ethernet. The phone service I provide is IP based, and the TV streams are also UDP IP streams. So all I have to do is trunk a few VLANs to separate everything. In some cases, ISPs even offer fiber optics in the home, not just to the node.
I don’t think they are in business anymore. Their website is a static page that has links to gambling websites and I can’t find their company on LinkedIn. Probably too good to be true.
you guys need a better visual video. throughout the whole video is yabber yabber yabber. thought information is good, but those who want a visual aspect of whats going on, this video missed the mark on that. I seen this video and yet to figure out what the hell was done.

im just amazed how you can just eject the insulation on something like that. truly mind-blowing.
What a time to be alive.
This is such a brilliant idea. I hope you guys get tons of contracts with the cable companies to help bring fast internet to millions of Americans!
In and out in about an hour including cleanup. WOW, how great is this?!
i wonder how often it actually works this well.
I would like to see the process for aerial

A laser is used to send data down the fiber sor single mode which is used for long distances.

What happens if the coax shield is deteriorated? I bet this company ends up digging quite a bit.
What a genius idea!
Is Altice using this to upgrade their network to FTTH in Cablevision and Suddenlink markets?
Jamie Richard Yes they are
At first I was like "wow this looks dumb" but then once I saw how cool it was my mind was immediately changed
Is anybody using this?
It would greatly speed up the FTTH work for cable companies like crazy.
TD_Tell_Em ...Rogers is doing it in Toronto.
It's called cable X
Comcast Atlanta also uses this.
@@videoslue Wonder what they're like compared to NX Utilities, lol.
@@JustAnotherDronePilot Well the good news is they couldn't be any worse...
What happends to the copper?

They don't tell you what % of jobs this works.
Bartlomiej Heleniak nope it's all smoke and mirrors I worked for them
This is fucking amazing.
Is that the same as "Fiber Deep?"

Clearly no one has told Malcom Turnbull about this.
