I can see: Stupid ways NPCs kill themselves, Dating an NPC, Trying to have NPCs sign a petition (that denies the existence of NPCs), NPCs driving invisible vehicles then die in ways after reality kicks in, like from fall damage after flying into the sky. Also can be NPCs dying for the dumbest reasons like death after one inch of fall damage or being sucked into a toilet for no reason.
It takes intelligence to realize, that one has nothing of particular value to say. Is certainly a nice change to all the folks out there, trying to be funny at all costs.
introvert: you can’t face player straight on zoolander: you can’t turn left (only walks in right angles) sheep: you only leave if you have someone to follow rookie: as an ally, you can never land your shots toddler: if being escorted, you run directly towards danger immovable object: you block the player from moving immortal: you don’t take friendly damage
the right angles thing was hilarious in Half Life Blue Shift, when you have to escort rosenberg up a spiral staircase, so he sprints up each set of stairs, stops to turn right, sprints to the next set of stairs, stops to turn right, sprints up the next etc its so fun to watch
Some halo ones might be like getting your weapon swapped with a worse one, getting killed for ammo, and being given weapons like the sniper rifle or rocket launcher when they're low on ammo to get infinite ammo.
Signs you're an NPC 4 Ideas: - Walking cannot pathfind anywhere (get stuck) unable to pathfind over the tiniest things Slide off of stuff when you walk at an angle into it - Animations overused animations/no animation variants Inverse kinematics being buggy at certain moments - Getting unstuck shoot across the room because you are in a different place than the game thinks you are - Collisions Always a certain distance away from something Glitched hitboxes (walking around but hitbox is stuck in a sitting position so you phase into low ceilings) start spazzing out because you got stuck in something - Misc. / idk where it goes Lacking the ability to jump over obstacles disappear when out of view of the player missing playermodel data (resulting in a reference pose/t pose) Its a long list but its some things i thought Karl should make a part 4 with :)
I wonder how many takes this took. I wouldn't be able to keep my poker face while thinking of the nonsense I'm gonna pull while editing. I have one idea: Ragdolls will sometimes mouth ambient sounds.
God these are always great. "My neck hurts" had me in STITCHES. Suggestion: In source games, it's well known that if an NPC is walking somewhere during a cutscene, you can bonk them on the head and they'll teleport to where they're going
@@denisekyles4299 I learned about it watching a Black Mesa speedrun where after the resonance cascade you can pick up a circuit board when he starts walking and get him to open the door quickly
the stretched collision at the beginning is insanely accurate, as is the entire rest of the video only idea i have is really slow walking speed as one of the bits (they are so angeringly sluggish holy f-)
remember that, despite the signs of being an npc may appear obvious, you may want to consult the local game developers in your area before self-diagnosing. there are some similar conditions to being an npc such as: -having a walk cycle -having click to move -vr teleporting syndrome -low fps -may just be a lag spike
ah man , you have something special when it comes to this. your voice, intonation, physicality, top tier entertainment. And big respect for your BFFS-project.

Love your videos. Been going through some difficult times with losing my mom and have needed the laughs. And 3 reminded me of a funny Skyrim story. I was doing a quest where I needed to sneak into a meadery. I had the Danwguard expansion in by then so I had a crossbow. I peak around a corner, fire it at a guard, them immediately hide. I didn't kill the guard with that shot, he then says "I guess I was just hearing things" and gives up looking. I peek around the door frame and the guard is sitting back down like nothing happened but my cross bow bolt is sticking out of the back of his head. Feel free to use that for an idea.
I knew it! None of the other videos helped me any because I had none of those other symptoms, but now with this video, I check off the entire list and now can know I am officially an NPC.
Fucking love these pieces lol. Ideas: -Some games teleport-move NPCs that are stuck on obstacles. Could have an npc stuck on something as the camera leaves a room, camera looks down the hallway, then back again and the npc is directly behind them. Also said teleportation sometimes overshoots and gets them stuck in doors/walls/etc. -Npcs trying to shoot each other, but with guns clipping into each other, the bullets can't hit them. -Falling object knocks an npc down, but the object is still on top of them as they try to get up... Wild ragdoll/floor clipping ensues.
I think instead of impaired hearing (as that would mean most old people), instead it should be delayed hearing. Like someone dies behind you and you only react after they have dropped to the ground or the killer has left the scene.
Video game acting will never get old, will be watching this over and over the years, thank you so much for making this, funny moments love it, i hope you have a good day always! ❤
Finally, my wait is over... Really I'm joking with all my friends from several months that they have NPC Syndrome 😂😂, and everyone has liked your video so much... Please make a part 4 soon...
Some part 4 ideas: -Never stop looking at you -Sudden interaction from the most unlikely of places and directions -Rapidly hitting the interact button -Giving things to you/each other -VR collision -VR collision reaction -The single noise that somehow translates into full sentences -Extreme reactions -Rapidly changing emotions
You can't forget the obvious Instant Forgiveness of Sins if the person "yields" just after killing their wife. (Unless a chicken was killed. in which case God help you.) Perfectly willing to "stand guard" without taking a bathroom break or eating or drinking or sleeping for 20 years straight. Or blinking...or talking... Or the annoying habit of traveling at a faster than walking speed but slower than running speed. The constant "I won't solve my own problem, where's the nearest hero/idiot to find my keys?" syndrome. The economy busting ability to always be able to buy something from the market stall no matter how much money is actually on them. They are perfectly ok with you waking them up repeatedly...at night...in their house...to ask for local rumors or quest stuff. (This isn't narcolepsy...they just don't care?) Janky traveling up/down stairs. They carry HUGE backpacks full of supplies and gear...but when they die or get pickpocketed...they have 3 coins. Seeing player characters who killed god, wield mythical weapons from said gods, and treat them exactly as if they showed up from tutorial town.
Or when you're 90% done disarming a trap, their AI decides that it's the perfect time to wander across the tripwire and BLAOW now all the turrets are active.
Idea. You know when NPCs are like “follow me” and they’re like so obnoxiously slow. Or even worse. When you need to follow an NPC and you’re walking speed is too slow yet your running speed is too fast to keep up with him
Bad idea for a game: if an NPC’s head angle exceeds say 60 degrees, every one or 5 degrees, a crack will play. So if it glitches and their head turns 180 degrees, *crunch*. And it works for neck snap animations.
idea: incredible knowledge from no apparent source (aka explaining literally everything about the quest and the enemies without having ever encountered them)
