- This is one of the most famous episodes of the history of North America portrayed many times in cinema, comics and novels. I made all this around the release of the 2004 movie with the help of the Imex series of the period made a few years before. The Alamo was built using mostly hard styrofoam with details in card, plastics and whatever was suitable. The derelict state of the former Spanish mission was a big help as you don't need too much measurements and planning. The armies, both Texans and Mexicans were made with the already mentioned Imex but also with scores of Napoleonic and cowboy figures of all available brands of those days, like Airfix, Esci, Revell and Italeri.
This is the best model I have ever seen of the Alamo! Great job! I can tell a lot of time was put in for all the details.
Thanks John. It was a great fun to build and to read about the issue.
Nice work !
Spectacular and superb!!
I used some Mexican "round Hats" for my Alamo Tejanos and the Mexico Peasant units. Great work! Looks amazing!
Thanks. You made a good choice.
Very nice!
Fantastic 👍👍
That's a really good model. I like the Texan's variety of outfits and the groundwork on the bases. I gather the final fate of the defenders wasn't exactly "Hollywood". Much more grim in fact.
Thanks. The Mexicans treated the Texans as criminals as, on their opinion, they were trying to steal their land.
G'day to you Sir, Well done to you, lot of work went into that , I built a Roman Fort 20 odd years ago,it took me nearly a year, it was 3x3 feet in size, Stables and Barracks included, I looked up as much as I could to try and get it correct, once more well done to you!
Thanks Paul. I like to make the terrain and both armies when I get into a battle or campaign. These kind of projects are my main passion in the hobby.
Awesome , well done.
Thanks, Philip. All the best.
What a nice Board . Congrats👍
Thanks. 👍
Astounding work! Was just thinking about this the other day and wondering whether it would be possible to convert Santa Anna’s army from French Napoleonic figures.
Thanks. The conversion is not only possible but almost mandatory as the only Mexicans infantry box - imex - has a wrong shaped shako, just to look authentic, which is not. But by looking at color plates and reconstitutions, the best figures are napoleon's soldiers, if placing many barefooted and no tall boots, and that is an easy job just by painting.
👍👍👍👍
Brilliant ! How many models did you have there on the tbale both sides ?
Another video of more numbers could be good for views, 😊
Thanks. They must be around some 700 figures total. If you want go to my blog jpwargaming.blogspot and enter the folder Alamo 1836 and you can see pictures of all units individually.
Was curious if you could point me in the direction of a good manufacturer of 15mm WWII waterslide decals? Beautiful work by the way
15mm is not my size. Sorry can´t help you much. The only ones I know that make those in 15mm is PSC (Plastic Soldier Company) and they look pretty good.
Great diorama. what specific Airfix, Esci, Revell and Italeri were used as mexicans. Thank you.
Sorry for being late. I used French Napoleonic infantry from those brands. The coated infantry were Grenadiers turned into infantry by using Esci French Napoleonic shakoes.
