Nice review, and love the P40, which I feel is one of the most underrated planes of WW2. I am currently working on building one for every country that flew the P40.
i just got me a couple of academy p40m/n kits to be honest i think the kit is right up there in detail with the special hobby p40s minus the extra options that is
I've heard a few people say the Academy P-40 is a good one. From the kits I've made from them that doesn't surprise me. Their only issue is their thick glossy decals.
Personally, my favorite is the Hasegawa P-40 line. Of course, it needs wheel well and cockpit detail, either aftermarket or scratch-built but once done, it looks fine. 😉👍
I generally like the Hobby Boss Easy Assembly kits. Been modeling most of my 65 years, and I like the simpler kits sometimes. I am building their F4F-4 Wildcat at this moment, with their RAF marked P-51C in the queue. Their weakest point is the cockpit detail. I did two Special Hobby P-40K kits, the long tail and short tail. I've done a couple Airfix P-40B kits, and have another on order, all the same sprues, but different paint schemes/decals. "Deckols" just sounds so...... wrong. 🙄
Lovely review thanks. I have built the Airfix kit and think it's a little gem, l also have the Special Hobby kit in the stash. Does it go together well?
My pleasure I'm glad it was useful. I completely agree on the Airfix kit and so reasonably priced too! Yes it does. I always thought of Special Hobby as a short run manufacturer producing some of the rarer aircraft and then they brought out their 109 kit (which is epic, it's their kit in Eduards Adlerangriff dual combo set) and then I saw that their P40 was a new tooling too so though i'd give it a go. Like I say, I then went out and bought another 2 haha.
@@The_Male_Modeller looks savage with the sharks mouth.. Always love a kit with that option on the decal sheet... Great comparison video too. Just subbed. 👍👍👍
I've not built either kit so would be unfair for me to comment. Both are really good manufacturers in my opinion so it wouldn't surprise me if they produced good P-40s too!
I am disapointed in the Academy P-40B kit. It goes together well, nice build, but it is completely unacurate! Later i've build the Airfix P-40B (wich must look like the same) but the Academy kit looks really weird in form...! I gave it away to a friend who liked the shark mouth look. He's happy and me too that way 🙂

Ah nice. I never built the Hasegawa one. They were always hard to get hold of here in the UK
Great Review mate!!! It help me to make a decision on wich kit go after... The special hobby will be for me 👌👌✌️✌️
The coolest looking fighter from WW2.
I think I'd be inclined to agree. I loved the red nose and shark mouth of the RAF North African P40s.

Hobbyboss have done some really lovely kits. Brilliant if you want to build a collection or, as you say, just fancy an easy build.

Nice review, but the creaking background noise drives one to grind their teeth.
What about Academy and Hasegawa P-40 kits?

@@Tormento98 This is a very old kit. Akademy has newer and better kits of E and M.
@@railpulse You are right, i just was talking about the B-version. Airfix does the much better kit.
@@Tormento98 I also have a B from Airfix. It's a great kit.
Mate are you on a pirate ship or something? The creaking in the background is infuriating.
