Eduard do a great photo-etch for the engine servicing cradle ( Plus other bits) - the access is through the front of the wings. This will make a superb diorama. I am hoping the panel lines will blend once some paint is on
Don't tempt me, I already spend too much on models haha. I made quite a rudimentary diorama with Airfix's one which I think I'm going to do a bit of a restoration on. Especially given that I've got a fresh set of decals now.
It is no surprise that the box art of most manufacturers is “stunning” these days, technology has made the design of the art offerings on the smallest to largest boxes so much easier to design than in the past, I don’t know if manufacturers still employ artists to design and paint unique pieces for the boxes, and whilst the loss of jobs for the artists they probably hire an IT wizard to create the art from the internet, it is a major selling point in my opinion and experience, if the box art and subject catch my eye I will look further into whether the kit itself is worth the investment in money and time, not that I build lots of models I do have a formidable stash, and the Sunderland is on my list of kits I want to add to it. Let’s see what you think now, I tend to pause videos just before the lid is removed to allow me to make my first impressions in the comments, now we are @ 0:39 . A very nice review, thanks for sharing it with us all, but, and there is always a but, I am wondering if you have to use the P.E or is there plastic pieces included?, I ask because my hands don’t work as well as they used to so folding P.E is difficult for me. It would be nice if you could include a rough outline of the price for this kit, and the other kits you review?. Final observation, I realise that not everyone knows what parts are actually called so please take this as a constructive criticism, you said the cockpit has a “dashboard” that is a term usually reserved for cars, in the case of manned aircraft it is called the “instrument panel”, it might be a bit picky to point this out but believe me when I say that it is a drawback to the narration, and tbh it could be seen as you not understanding the subject of the review and it could be worth your while just learning the nomenclature of the components you are talking about, I certainly didn’t mean to offend you in any way, I hope my comments will help you to grow your channel, far too many channels have reviewers that can produce a fantastic end product but get so many things wrong when talking about components, and it happens vice-versa, and obviously a lot of channels get both sides of the video correct. Thanks again for an excellent video, I have decided that this kit is going on my Wishlist for Christmas. 🎅😀👍🇬🇧🏴🇺🇦
Hi Allen, thanks so much for watching and for your comments. First point; "dashboard" 🤦♂️ I know, I'm starting a sister channel for car kits and that word snuck in, I had an afternoon of recording haha. But, yeah I agree, and it's attention to detail like that that makes a good channel great. I'll do better to catch such mistakes in editing next time because I missed this one. I really like the idea of including price. I've try to avoid it because my audience is quite international so can really vary but I guess if you know it's c.£40 in the UK people would be able to work out the equivalent cost. 😀👍 On the photo etch, that's a great question. Usually plastic parts are included too. That was certainly the case with the Stirling kit that I'm currently working on. When I'm back home I'll double check that for you. Thanks again Allen
@@The_Male_Modeller And thank you for taking the time 🕰️ to reply, I totally understand now about the price point, like you said because of the diverse nations that watch your channel it could be a bit confusing. Thanks again for your videos and replying to me. 😀👍🇬🇧🏴
I have the earlier mark in the loft stash, loads of lovely bits to play with. I think the main difference between the two is the stepped hull and dorsal armament. I have to say I prefer the colour scheme options with the early mark as opposed to the later white/grey schemes. Also, I have a soft spot for Malta, a couple of the early schemes are of aircraft were based there. The overall quality of the kits is very good, the only other one I believe was the very old Airfix tooling (about time they revised that to the new tool, MKV anybody?). My one criticism would be the detailing is a little heavy, same as the otherwise great Stirling, also only previously available through the very old Airfix kit, seeing a trend here? Good review, I look forward to the build video, should come in handy!
I know what you mean about the detail, I would say that I'd prefer more than less. Glad you're looking forward to the build video, I know I'm looking forward to building it 😀. I built the old Airfix one and I'm going to do a bit of restoration on that one too. Thanks for watching 😀👍🏻
Hi just discovered your channel its looks great and you model in 1/72 the best for model aircraft plenty of detail and easy to store keep up the great work
Yes, that's why I chose 1/72. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to build bigger but cost and storage play a big factor! What I'm loving is that as the tooling process improves, we're seeing 1/48th level detail now on 1/72 scale kits. Eduard and Arma Hobby's latest releases for example...WOW!
Yeah I've noticed that and yes, that's my expectation. I'm building Italeri's Stirling at the moment and that's the same. When you layer the paint, washes etc they'll tone down a bit but, at the same time, it makes contrast easier to achieve. Take someone like NightShift, he'll exaggerate some features to make them stand out to create an overall aesthetic to the model that really makes it pop. So, yeah, in conclusion, I'd rather have more detail that I tone down rather than not enough. Certainly in this scale.
Yeah, a lot of people have said that. I'm hoping it'll really show off the contrast between the different panels given that it's only 1/72. I'm also expecting them to tone down a bit with paint, washes and varnish etc. Thanks for watching 😀👍✌❤
@@Modguy555 I hope so. I've got a tonne of projects on the go, including the Stirling but I've been looking forward to this one for a while so I'd better get cracking on it 😀👍🏻
Got this one in my stash ,with alot of after market for it. Should be a stunner when finnished. Great video.
A really cool looking kit. Also the Stirling from Italeri looks similarly great...
The Stirling kit IS fantastic. I'm halfway through building it. Lots of nice detail!
@@The_Male_Modeller I'll watch that one too, cheers.

Quite a few comments regarding the over-heavy panelines - wonder if these fill out somewhat after painting?
Yeah I've noticed that and yes, that's my expectation. I'm building Italeri's Stirling at the moment and that's the same. Looks good, maybe the panel lines look a bit heavy, but otherwise, very nice.
Yeah, I'm expecting the panel lines to tone down a bit with paint, weathering and varnishes 🤞
im thinking of getting this kit and doing the CC version, could you do a build video of it please so i can see how it goes together.
The panel lines look rather deep and wide. 🤔 Still, a good looking kit overall. Peace and love.
Yeah, a lot of people have said that. I'm hoping it'll really show off the contrast between the different panels given that it's only 1/72. I'm also expecting them to tone down a bit with paint, washes and varnish etc. Thanks for watching 😀👍✌❤
