Thank you Jenny❤ We are lucky here in Southern West Oregon. The Anna's hummingbirds live here year round. It is amazing to see them out at our feeders in the winter when it is snowing and well below freezing. They are also one of the varieties that sing. We bring all our feeders in at night, usually 7 or 8 of them so they do not freeze and put them back out right before first light. I fed 25 of them all winter. Was filling feeders alot but well worth it.!!!
We have the Anna's hummingbirds all year round, too, in western Washington. I finally bought a hummer heater so I can leave one feeder out when the temps get too low. The nectar gets slushy at 27F. Wow, you're lucky to have 25 all winter. We only have 4-5 in the winter. The first male Rufous returned on March 18th this year. I love when they are buzzing all around us!
I bought a Sugar Shaker Nectar maker I saw in Birds and Blooms magazine a few years ago.. Big game changer in making Hummy food. Can make alot in a very short time.
My hummingbirds haven’t returned yet but so looking forward to seeing them again. They devoured my Lantana, Cuphea, Calibrachoa, Veronicas, Heuchera, Daylilys and Salvia last year. Am planning on doing the Cuphea and Lemon Coral Sedum combo you posted previously because those colors just pop. Thanks for sharing Jenny!
Congratulations on 80k subs!!! Enjoyed the video this morning and thanks for including the hummingbird clip; this was the 1st video I ever watched of Creekside and it felt good to see it mentioned. I'm getting ready for my winged friends as well, keep the videos coming!!
Meanwhile, I am thinking how it does not add to her garden's biodiversity and, if chemicals (fertilizers & pesticides), it is actually harming the environment.
I use Nutricote 13-11-11 8-9 month (has secondary, and trace elements in addition to NPK) and still every other month in Mid May- Sept give them a water soluble feed - usually what I feed my orchids. Many of these annuals really need the food. I use about 1/2 strength of the water soluble. Also very important, be consistent with watering.
Stopping in to visit you tomorrow! We're driving now from Pennsylvania to visit family in the Lake Norman area. Can't wait to see your beautiful nursery!!!
Yes, our male hummer arrived on March 24th and the female arrived 6 days later. I have five hummer feeders full and lots of flowers for them. I'm in Georgia.
I love hummingbirds.. I have had my feeders full for two weeks … I went and bought plants too … thank you for your videos ❤️ I live in Asheboro NC .. ..
Just checked the migration map and they are reported in Kentucky and southern Indiana. I cannot wait until our little buddies come buzzing past our head! I have been making every effort to plant up hummer friendly plants in the garden and last year we had three regulars. So excited for this season and hope to attract more to the property. 😊 NW Ohio zone 6-b
Beautiful containers Jenny. I love in South Florida Zone 10b and we are also visited by the Ruby Throated Hummingbird. I saw our first one feasting on my Unplugged Pink Salvia in early March. :) So sweet!
Jenny those pots will be beautiful. I 'm going to copy your idea and love Jerry's gorgeous lawn behind you. !! In sw P and waiting for my sweet little hummers to return !! Have a great day .
I copied your middle pot and am loving it! I’ve never pitted vermillionare be Yi thought I didn’t like orange! Going to watch your video planting it with lemon coral sedum. Many thx
My male hummers arrived 4/3 at 5:30p.m. SAME DAY as 2022 at 5:10p.m. though! I had 30 the past few summers. Hubs and I sit and each take count. LOL I expect the females next week. (Forsyth County NC.)
Great info Jenny. We have a Desert Willow tree that our hummers love (small pink flowers in summer) as well. My favorite is definitely the vermillionaire plant!
Yes!!! My hummers loved the firecracker plant. I placed them at my kitchen window flower box and got to watch them every single day as I cooked or was washing dishes. I will buy it every year from now on. A must have if you love hummers. ❤
Hummingbirds really like RED....WOOF!! ☺ Just couldn't resist a little tease there! THANKS for your encouragement. Aphids HIT our huge Gen Wheeler red honeysuckle, so we had to finally cut back all the new growth and first blooms. SO...the hummers are looking for it already and so sad it's not there! Your video was reminder to do other things to feed and keep them happy temporarily!
Aphids are the bane of honeysuckle vines. The first flush of blooms on my coral honeysuckle is destroyed every year. If I get lazy and fail to address the problem, my honeysuckle will become covered by tens of thousands of aphids.
Hello friend! My Vermillionare was planted near my front porch in the ground last summer. That plant survived the attic blast and is waking up quickly! That was a pleasant surprise 😮!
My very best hummingbird plant is the salvia greggii. It had a few blooms on it before the March freeze even. They love it more than anything else, including the feeders.
I've grown salvia greggii for ten years, but it's one of my least-used salvias. The favorite here in my Iowa garden is salvia guaranitica (which includes Rockin' Deep Purple). The salvia darcyi x microphylla hybrids ('scarlet spires', 'windwalker royal red') are also used heavily.
Hello. I’m new to your channel but I love the information you have shared. I was outside planting some seeds and saw our first hummingbird for the year here in Tennessee about 2 weeks ago. I didn’t have my feeders ready wasn’t expecting them so early. But excited that they are here already.
The petunia I have been looking for is Bordeaux!! Those things made a nice clump of foliage over the winter in central NC and caught a bunch of little gnats and flies on their foliage and then came back even bigger and better the next year! The foliage and blooms just shimmer in the sunlight. 😎
I debated putting the slow release fertilizer in with my PW potting soil- didn’t do it, but will go back and work it in! Thanks for the great videos and information.
Thanks Jenny. Love the combo ideas and definitely going to try them. I love the hummers. Also I remember that first video you made - it was great too 🥰
Excellent video Jenny! I did your mix of lemon sedum and the vermillion orange plant from PW last summer and we enjoyed beautiful shows from the hummingbirds on our deck! I’ll do the same this season! Thank you for the extra info to attract them! 🧡💜
Lol not beloved Clemon. SC USC Gamecocks pays my retirement. 31 yrs before retired. I am in midlands. Can't wait to do containers for hummers. Years ago I experienced a hummer lovers dream. In a park in Albuquerque NM. I saw hundreds of hummingbirds over water.
Thanks for the reminder... I haven't put my solution in my hummer feeder either... Oh my Bad! My memory is just not perfect. I'm working on a new flower bed, tore out a bush I've disliked since I moved here 3 years ago. That was so satisfying to get it out. So I've been in planting mode and forgot about my Little hummingbirds! I think it's a little early still so I think I'm OK....
I have lived in densely populated suburban environments all my 65 years. I garden in Hampton Virginia. I have never seen a hummingbird. I couldn't even say they actually exist at all.
Will definitely try these here in North Alabama! Love watching your channel. Any chance you can share the size of the pots? Thank you for sharing your nursery experience 🙂
This is what I have been wanting to do for a while. A deconstructed pot, so instead of 5-7 plants in 1 large pot. 2 to 3 smaller pots with 1-2 plants per pot but still following the spiller, thriller, filler recipe.
Beautiful ❤ 😊 one question I have. I get the petunia bugs during the summer. Can I add the preventive treatment or would that hurt the hummingbird. Thanks for sharing. I hope to hear from anybody that know this. Thanks
Hummers also LOVE Mandevilla, hibiscus & fuchsia! They’re flocking to my patio with these in pinks, magentas & soft red. I’m so glad they’re back here in the MS Delta! Happy Easter weekend Jenny & Jerry & all of your staff at Creekside Nursery!
I live in a condo in a aurban area is it possible to attract hummingbirds to my balcony I put up a hummingbird feeder but still no hummingbirds I think I need plants to attract them what kinda of flowers are the best to use I have to put on my balcony
I wish we could post pics in RUclips comments to show you my question. Like you we have a creek that outlines the back of our property and the side of our house is a mini forest where I am doing a Partial-shade garden. Gets morning sun, damply sun during Noonish and no sun after 3ish-or later during during the summer months, we are South facing sun (zone5). We have sandy dirt all over but we also have a small wet land. Only see puddles after the snow melts. After each rain the water is sucked up ASAP. Would flowers like Putinas go ok in that area? Or what would be a good flowering plant.
Love the plant you used & creating a combined planter arrangement! Remind me, what is the tree behind you in the bed in your yard? It has really grown.
Thank you for highlighting regular supertunias instead of the vista or mini vista. It seems the vistas are all anyone recommends lately. So when I see the regulars for sale at my stores, I fear I can't buy those anymore because they won't perform. Any tips for helping the regulars bloom better? Thank you so much!!
Just remember that food = flowers. Petunias are heavy feeders and need to be fertilized regularly and often. You can liquid fertilize them with Proven Winners Water Soluble fertilizer every 10-14 days and especially after heavy rain (the rains leach the food out of the soil).
Such a fun video. You mentioned Rockin’ Deep Purple is improved- do you know if all the PW RDPs are improved going forward, or do I need to look for something specific on the tag? Do you have any videos of it that I can look for on your channel to see the growth? I currently grow Amistad and he’s a beast, looking for a more compact purple salvia. I wish you were closer so I could shop from you!
Here’s the link to our first video for Proven Winners using Vermillionaire and Lemon Coral sedum ruclips.net/video/-4xtOpZO0Yw/видео.html
Love the German Shepard ears in the background. That’s how I garden too
The hummingbirds love my Yucca flowers 🏜️
I've never had a plant attract all pollinators like my Salvia. It's an amazing thing to see!❤
Thank you Jenny❤ We are lucky here in Southern West Oregon. The Anna's hummingbirds live here year round. Thanks for the plant list to attract hummingbirds!
Any time!
Great plants for the hummingbirds. Going to look terrific. Brenna is your personal protector. Just like the secret service. I love that.
Very true!
The hummingbirds are going to enjoy the beautiful containers of flowers.
Loved the video. Especially the dog's ears barely showing over the wall. So cute.
She loves being by my side!
Hummers like the Bat face plants- another Cuphea plant. I love it!!!
That vermillionaire grows SO huge, you wouldn't even need 2 of those. It's going to look so great to your hummers!!
Brenna's ears!!!! Too cute!!!
My hummingbirds haven’t returned yet but so looking forward to seeing them again. They devoured my Lantana, Cuphea, Calibrachoa, Veronicas, Heuchera, Daylilys and Salvia last year. We are lucky here in Vancouver Canada , we have a variety of hummer that stays all winter.
Congratulations on 80k subs!!! Enjoyed the video this morning and thanks for including the hummingbird clip; this was the 1st video I ever watched of Creekside and it felt good to see it mentioned. I'm getting ready for my winged friends as well, keep the videos coming!!
Awesome! Thank you!
Here in zone 8 western Washington state, I have several year-round hummingbird residents. They also like agastache and fuchsias.
Hummers Soo cute ha!!!
Jenny, Ask Jerry to do a video on how he gets such a beautiful grassy lawn. I am so jealous of your lawn. Love the hummingbird planters.💖
I second that! I would love to just walk barefoot in their grass, it looks so lush!
Meanwhile, I am thinking how it does not add to her garden's biodiversity and, if chemicals (fertilizers & pesticides), it is actually harming the environment.
Of all RUclips garden channels I follow, YOU are the one I trust the most to provide useful information. And presented in a delightful way.
Wow, thank you!

I must be lucky here in the PNW. We have hummingbirds staying here year round feeding on the honey suckle that doesn't seem to die back ever.
Y’all are lucky! Our hummers are migratory and are only with us for 6 months. They like to spend the winter in Mexico 😉
Just checked the migration map and they are reported in Kentucky and southern Indiana. I cannot wait until our little buddies come buzzing past our head! I have been making every effort to plant up hummer friendly plants in the garden and last year we had three regulars. So excited for this season and hope to attract more to the property. 😊

Great to know as I’m in NE Ohio! Thanks! 😊
Love my Hummers, should be here soon, lower Michigan. Can't wait. Love setting and watching them. Thank you 🐦🐝🦋

I love the hummingbirds! I have them year round. It's important to grow some native species that support wildlife.
Great information Jenny. Thank you for sharing.

Great plants. My hummingbirds love my mimi vistas hanging plants. Thank you so very much for sharing this with us.🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦

haha THAT video was my first video I ever saw of you when I was searching for hummer plants. So funny! Been a fan and learner since!
Beautiful birds and what a wonderful combination for them 🍃🌸🍃

Thank you Jenny! We usually see our first hummingbirds around Mother's Day (Minnesota 4b)
And good prices too!
i just grabbed my Vermillionaire (Firecraker Plant) yesterday. Sorry I missed you. I drove away with a car full of annuals.
Thank you so much for the list of plant. I love attracting the hummers to my yard too.

Great video. I have a trip of pots and I have been inspired
Here in northeastern Oklahoma we only have ruby red hummers also. I dont think they come til towards the middle or end of this month. ❤
Love the hummers in my garden. Diversity of critters is important I keep my hostas to feed all the deer that roam through my yard!😂

Best to use organic natural fertilizer or compost for overall health of plants and hummers 😎
I LOVE your southern sus ❤
Beautiful ❤ 😊 one question I have. I get the petunia bugs during the summer. Can I add the preventive treatment or would that hurt the hummingbird. Thanks for sharing. I hope to hear from anybody that know this. Thanks
I stumbled on a purple Salvia Greggii ....my hummingbirds LOVE IT

Appreciate the Piedmont NC information. What are the sizes of the containers?

Hi Jenny! Love the planters for the hummingbirds. I just put out my feeders to see if we have them yet. Are there any plans to ship your plants again?
We will begin this fall 😊
Do you have a recommendation/link for a good hummingbird feeder that is also easy to clean?! Love your channel!

@@GardeningwithCreekside Hi Jenny, Thanks a bunch for the advice! I'm learning a lot from you : )
What is the fertilizer you used
Such a fun video. You mentioned Rockin’ Deep Purple is improved- do you know if all the PW RDPs are improved going forward, or do I need to look for something specific on the tag? If it is a Rockin’ Deep Purple being sold this year then it is the improved plant; no special coding on the tag. You’re going to love it!
Where did u buy that dog????? That is a beautiful shepherd. Looks like a working line. I want one
Jenny didn't you have a video about plants that like wet feet and full sun.
Beautiful pots, Jenny! We had our first hummer visit on 4/1 in Statesville NC also!
Yay!!!!
I have rockin blue suede shoes for one of my containers. Do you think it will do alright? Not sure how it compares with the purple.
It will be fabulous!
