  • " A British nurse has been found guilty of murdering seven babies and attempting to kill six others at the hospital where she worked, making her the country’s worst baby serial killer in recent times.
Lucy Letby, 33, harmed babies in her care by injecting air into their blood and stomachs, overfeeding them with milk, physically assaulting them and poisoning them with insulin, Manchester Crown Court in northern England heard. In one case, Letby murdered a baby boy, identified as Child E, by administering air into his bloodstream, the UK’s PA Media news agency reported. The next day, she attempted to kill his twin brother, Child F, by poisoning him with insulin.
A court order protects the identity of the children involved in the allegations against Letby, including those who died and survived under her care. Police found a trove of handwritten notes while searching Letby’s house during their investigation, including one that read: “I am evil I did this.” She secretly attacked 13 babies on the neonatal ward at the Countess of Chester hospital between 2015 and 2016, Britain’s Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) said in a statement. Her intention was to kill the babies while duping her colleagues into believing there was a natural cause of death, prosecutors argued. Pascale Jones of the CPS called Letby’s actions a “complete betrayal of the trust placed in her.” “Lucy Letby sought to deceive her colleagues and pass off the harm she caused as nothing more than a worsening of each baby’s existing vulnerability,” she said." Like a lot of the time from what I’ve learned that “ life in prison “ or however many years to life.

i’m from the UK - she’s serving a ‘whole life order’ which means she can never apply to be released and will spend the rest of her life in jail. this is a very rare sentencing over here (she is one of only 4 women EVER in our history to be served this). most of the time people will be sentenced 30 years max (and even then they are usually released early). so i’m just glad she got the punishment she deserved

And for patients to get better, healthcare staff and families must work together, respect, and trust each other. I would not blame a family for mistrusting staff after a case like this. There was a doctor in Tennessee and Texas that did like 39 surgeries and he completely maimed or killed 38 of his patients, including his best friend. He got away with it for a long time because everytime he got caught by the hospital, they let him resign and move to another hospital. He was a neurosurgeon and did surgeries on people's backs and necks. He would just go in and just cut wherever, insert a surgical instrument and swirl it around. By the time he was caught many of his patients were dead from what he did. He would put pins in where they didn't need them just because he felt like it. He had a huge ego and was telling people that he was God to his patients. Very scary stuff, it hit me hard because I've had back surgery and may need it again, but I'm scared of doctors and nurses now. This evil woman should spend life in prison since they don't really give the death penalty over there. I wish they would make an exeption and send her to the Tower for an old fashioned death of hanging.

I have so much to say about this monster but none of it is appropriate for social media. Nurses literally hold their patients lives in their hands. Physicians do their rounds and dictate their orders but it’s the nurses who deliver the care. Mistakes can be made due to understaffing and being overworked but this horror is unexplainable. This monster clearly didn’t get enough attention in her early life and enjoyed the accolades she was receiving in her position but needed to continually up the ante to give herself that gratification. Let’s hope there is truly a hell and that people like this will burn for all of eternity in it.

Hi Christina. I'm English-born but have been living in Australia since 2003. Our first child died at three days old while we were still living in England. She was a full-term baby, but complications during the birth caused her death. She went to a NICU ward (although I don't remember it being called that then). The doctors and the nurses were fantastic and couldn't have been more supportive. In our case, one of the nurses who was with us at the first stages of labour wrote us a very kind and sympathetic letter, so Lucy writing a letter to one of the parents wouldn't seem odd to me if we didn't know what we know now. The Lucy Letby trial has brought up a lot of emotions for me. I love your channel but was hesitant about watching your take on this. (You did a great job). However, Lucy's actions were so egregious that it has just left me depressed how anyone could do this to such vulnerable babies.

There was a male nurse serial killer in the U.S and even though there were several other staff that pointed fingers his way the hospital covered it up because they didn't want to be sued so they let him resign and that allowed him to work at another hospital and kill more ppl. He worked in several states and killed a lot of ppl, I think a hospital that doesn't speak up just because they would be sued is just as responsible as the killer because if they would have had him arrested or started an investigation then that would have saved several victims! As a mother of a 32 week premature baby, this is one of the most horrific things I have ever heard. The trauma of an early labor, the NICU in general, going home without your baby day after day after day, the empty crib at home, the way your heart stops beating every single time their's does. How dare she? I trusted my NICU team with my whole heart. I trusted them to keep my baby safe when I couldn't stay. I cannot imagine what these families had to go through, and I am so, so sorry. The NICU is already so hard. It wasn't meant to be like this.

Awesome narration Christina, you really do your homework and you had me at the edge of my seat...
The level of psychopathy of Lucy Letby and her actions is off the charts... Not only was she a murderer but she sought the hyprocritical attention of her colleagues and her pursuit of attention and seeking apologies and retribution and her finger pointing is pure diabolical. Then attaching herself to her victims and their parents in the almost overly "empathetic" way she did was sadistic. It just goes on and on the layers of evil this woman had inside her and that she planned and knew exactly what she was doing is beyond human comprehension.
Lucy Letby's bad girl list is long and she has got to be one of the most evil, diabolical, sadistic human beings to ever walk this earth. May God bless her victims families and their little angels rest in peace.

Thank god the closed the nicu cause there is no way I would want to be there with my newborn.
