This was the first performance of Di that i saw ever. Maybe first time I’ve heard this song Samaltau. Maybe not, i’m not sure. But this was first time when I got the emotions and real meaning of the song. It touched my heart so much that I had tears on my eyes, pain on my chest, and couldn’t properly breathe. When Kazakhstan belonged to Russia, young Kazakhs were forced, by the Russian Empire, to leave their homes and fight many years until their total massacre. The story of one of these young people, who desperately marches into a war that is not his, besides the sadness of leaving his parents, elders, with no one to take care of and the certainty that he will never see the mountains (“tau”) of Kazakhstan again generated this wonderfully sad song! In an interview I heard Dimash say that thissong is difficult to sing not musically asmuch as because of the emotion. He feels it too in his being and in the painful history of his people. Personalizing it😊 through the experience of a fatigued soldier far from home worried about his elderly parents and what his fate will be is as you say, powerful beyond words. Thank you for the honor you have given to the music itself and to Dimash.. When Kazakhstan belonged to Russia, young Kazakhs were forced, by the Russian Empire, to leave their homes and fight many years until their total massacre. The story of one of these young people, who desperately marches into a war that is not his, besides the sadness of leaving his parents, elders, with no one to take care of and the certainty that he will never see the mountains (“tau”) of Kazakhstan again generated this wonderfully sad song! In addition to Dimash's talent, we have a wonderful ambience and two fantastic musicians: Olzhas Qurmanbeck - Master in playing Qobyz (Kobyz, who looks like a violin), the other who plays “rainstick”! I feel all that you do as well. I would like to hear Dimash perform "Samaltau" at the Grammys. In an interview I heard Dimash say that thissong is difficult to sing not musically asmuch as because of the emotion. He feels it too in his being and in the painful history of his people. Personalizing it😊 through the experience of a fatigued soldier far from home worried about his elderly parents and what his fate will be is as you say, powerful beyond words. Thank you for the honor you have given to the music itself and to Dimash..
