The first season was amazing. It set the stage without being overly dramatic in its portrayal of Sauron. I think it was excellently done. Not every season should be huge and action packed it’s nice to have that slower pace of stage setting.

I agree! It looks awesome, I have been a long time fan of the Tolkien works, I’ve read all the books and I love these series and I can’t wait for season 2. At this point I just ignore the haters.
I wonder why is Sauron trying to save Mordor's humans and pretending to be Halbrand, when he's powerful enough to take Adar out right here and now and claim the army, without need for mercy over humanity.
1.- He's trying to make a big plan to make the rings and damage Eregion, it's all an act. If he was a normal man nobody would hear him. But being the king and wanting to protect his people is worth listening. 2.- I'm not sure in what way, but the show runners have said that he starts low this season and starts gaining power bit by bit.
He walks in chains and grovels precisely because he CANNOT take out, cannot do something against Adar. If it were up to him, he would certainly prefer to sit on the throne and command.
He always gets in trouble when he gets into melee fights with other characters, but he throws the whole world into chaos when he uses his manipulative genius.
This show has strayed pretty far from canon (the elves making their 3 rings with Sauron before the 7 dwarf and 9 rings of power were made for men, the stranger/Gandalf appearing in the 2nd age, the whole Adar plot, etc...) I'm really hoping they rein some of that in this season or at the very least come up with a creative storyline that makes all these new additions to the canon make more sense.
We do not know yet if he is Gandalf or one of the Blues, and "Gandalf" did already come to Middle-earth during the Years of the Trees as one of the Guardians. Tolkien also wrote: „That Olórin [Gandalf], as was possible for one of the Maiar, had already visited Middle-earth and had become acquainted not only with the Sindarin Elves and others deeper in Middle-earth, but also with Men, is likely, but nothing is (has yet been) said of this.“ (The Peoples of Middle-earth - Part 2, Chapter XIII, "Last Writings")
@@anni.68 "As was possible..." and "actually was confirmed to be there" are 2 different things. Either way the whole stranger story line seems lame in any case.
Excellent just excellent I loved season one and this looks even better so hyped I loved this dialogue I can’t say I understand exactly whether he knows it’s Sauron i haven’t read a lot of the books but still interesting
If you had read the books, you know what a joke of a series this is.....though even on it's own it's a joke. Billion dollar series and yet the 90s Hercules series has better dialogue and costumes in it.
It's only one scene but this version of Adar, whilst brimming with menace, does lack some of the nuance, and lingering heft of the previous version. It's a bit one-note, but I do think that's intentional and generous, allowing a fixed plane for the layers of Sauron to bounce off and echo like the breaking of the first silence... or something.
This scene seems to belong to one of the last episodes in this upcoming season. The sorcerer Halbrand refers to is definitely Annatar, who is actually Halbrand, Sauron himself. Besides, he says that Galadriel's been defeated, so this is definitely one of the last episodes.
Adar has known since episode 6 last season and the words "Your Majesty" is just another proof of this. This is a clear ironic allusion to the coronation ceremony in the northern fortress, which ended with the disincarnation of Sauron. There is a lot of evidence
The Uruk dont know who he is (at that time), but Adar does (and he must know that there is no human king in the Southlands at all). This is a dialogue with a double meaning. Note that he told him, "We defeated the people of these lands and their allies," not "your people."
The thing about Sauron is that he is a grand master manipulator and deceiver. I think he gave Adar and his orcs the illusion of free will and they unwittingly did Sauron's bidding up until now.
It seems to me that Joseph had more complicated emotions, I can imagine his burning gaze at that moment. But we have to watch season 2 to draw conclusions
I would also like to see Joseph in a new interaction with Galadriel and Sauron, and at least one moment when Mawle fights with a sword in his hands. I hope to see Hazeldine in fight.
Adar is probably the best villain in a long time. Really wished they had made RoP its own property Zack Snyder style. Would've spared the series all the haters.
