Thanks Jenny and Bob. We visited this castle on a trip to the UK a few years ago. It was our favourite castle and has been lovely to see around it again.
Dear Bob & jenny,, what an amazing castle & moat, so picturesque, Bob when I watch these vlogs, you are nearly always climbing stairs, how fit will Bob be jenny.you do so many interesting vlogs of different places, all I need to do is look back on your vlogs & pick a place to go, looking forward to the next tour, take care both of you & poppy & Tara. Lots of love & Happy travelling, Linda xx ❤
Really enjoyed this video Bob. What a fabulous looking castle. You picked the right day with the blue skies. Thanks for taking us with you 😃 Trev n Sue
I was surprised the roads are just as bad there than they are up north! What a stunning castle 🏰 we are so lucky to have these beautiful building as a reminder of our history. Thanks for taking us along both. Em xx
Really loved this video. Thank you for going up the towers, the views took my breathe away. I’m so glad Jenny and the girls got to have a walk round too. I was missing Poppy taking the lead. Take care Gill
Aw I really enjoyed that ! Thank you for taking us on the virtual tour. It cheered me up :0) What a beautiful castle and surrounding grounds . I loved the skies with lots of clouds and the view from the top .
Hi Bob & Jenny thanks again for a really enjoyable video, great commentary and info. Would make a great location for photography, architecture is so inspiring 👍
Thanks Bob , loved the virtual tour! Fantastic views from the top of the castle and as you say a very picturesque castle ! Very interesting, such a shame Jenny, Poppy and Tara couldn’t come in. So grateful yet again to have a tour round a beautiful place that otherwise I wouldn’t get to see. Xx
Brilliant video Bob and Jenny. Yes, our local roads could rival any farm track for potholes and uneven surfaces. I think the bulk of the cash for road maintenance is spent in the west of the county. Of course Bodiam Castle is my favourite place pretty much in the whole world, and my second home. You did a great job getting up those towers. I don’t do them often as I get palpitations before I get to the top, and definitely not when in costume as it’s a trip hazard. No idea how they managed back in the day. I wasn’t expecting a mention but it was a nice surprise, thank you. It was really good to meet you. I’m a bit late catching up with your videos as we were away with our caravan last week at Burnham Wick Farm CL trying to eek out our mobile data. Best wishes.
Only just seen your reply. People often ask me if it’s hot in costume. Actually the costume is cooler than normal clothing in summer as it’s all linen, plus a straw sun hat when necessary, and my winter version is still the white linen shift but with a wool dress (kirtle) over the top and a wool cloak, plus a few modern additions such as thermal underwear and fleece insoles in my boots. The gatehouse is a wind tunnel and it can be bitter in there.
I think you are a hero climbing all those steep steps. I get a bit worried when you start puffing and panting. Well done. Loved this vlog and glad you were blessed with good weather. X
Impressive castle and beautiful scenery. Thank you for capturing it with really good photography and music. Well done for managing all those stairs, it was a shame Poppy wasn't allowed in she would have loved those. I think our ancestors were a lot shorter hence the low archways, unless they have built the floor up. The foundations must be good to have lasted all this time encased with water.
Hi Bob and Jenny, gosh the castle was stunning, it looked lovely surrounded by water , the moat, loved you exploring the towers but missed Poppy leading the way. Gosh there were some steps to climb. Think I would definitely have been out of puff. The views were amazing. Steeped in history. Glad you were able to take the pups for a walk around. Looking forward to your next video x
I guess there is always some smart Harry that wants to touch the bats 🤣🤣. Many thanks for the great tour around the castle 👍. Fantastic views from the top
Cracking video Bob and Jenny I have never heard of this castle before, it certainly looks like a place to visit if I ever get there. Many thanks, take care guys enjoy your travels and love the videos.
Wow looks stunning on the water. It would not have smelled nice though ( the moat) Did you say besides natural springs for the well it had moat water in too? eek
What a fantastic castle, visited Kenilworth castle a couple of months ago which was also very good but not surrounded with water like Bodiam is. How the wealthy lived in those days 🤔
Another lovely location bob and jenny what A fantasic view from castle Thanks once again for your hard work doing the vids enjoy the nice weather safe journey from Rolf Marivel Baby Ayesha Chance Staffii
hmm, just realised in my photos from maybe 30 something years ago that there was a huge oak (?) at the edge of the moat where you first same up the gravel path...maybe that got blown down in the winds that took out the Sevenoaks trees!? (yes that's how long ago I was there)
Hi Bob looking at hiring a motorhome for a few days do you recommend any sites to look at as unsure on whos reliable worth the money most important trustworthy??
If you mean companies who hire motorhomes out, I haven't hired a motorhome in 19 years, but I do hear good reports about Swift Go, from Swift, obviously. It is a try before you buy hire, so look them up. www.swiftgo.co.uk/
Ah, just back from my 60th bash at Brighton camc site, & watched your Bodiam vlog. Lovely castle that one, see you were going to Alderstead heath, our localish site as we used to live in Caterham, did you see Alderstead fort on the corner at the top of Shepherds hill dead opposite the site entrance on the other side of the field. Just a smidge of useless local history, similar to Reigate fort circa 19th century.
Being a caravan this is something what doesn't really affect us, but the rattles and banging as you've driving along, is it really that loud or is the video just emphasising it and are there ways of quieten it down, maybe another video
The fridge was nearly empty and the roads were terrible. We've not been able to use our lapel mics, and the built in mics emphasise it. Most coachbuilts tend to rattle, I've wrapped up most things, but I'm afraid the hard suspension doesn't help. I suppose I've got used to it after 19 years of motorhomes.
Wonderful video thank you both, Best wishes Carol & Steve
Thank you
Thanks Jenny and Bob. We visited this castle on a trip to the UK a few years ago. It was our favourite castle and has been lovely to see around it again.

Thanks, Linda, I hope climbing all those stairs does help my fitness!
Really enjoyed this video Bob. What a fabulous looking castle. You picked the right day with the blue skies. Thanks for taking us with you 😃 Trev n Sue
The weather got worse, but managed to get the best of the day.
I was surprised the roads are just as bad there than they are up north! What a stunning castle 🏰 we are so lucky to have these beautiful building as a reminder of our history. Thanks for taking us along both. Em xx
Thank you. It is shocking how bad the roads are in the UK.
Great video Bob

Some of them live to 40 years old!
Fascinating, fun; really love this one! Lots to read online, happy about that. Thank you! 💙
Very good film used to live 2 miles away for ten years on a farm
It is a lovely castle . Did you not fancy going on the steam train x
Think it was only running at weekends.
Xx

Thank, yes, I bet you get hot in some of that period costume!

That's good, be careful out there though, temperatures are getting silly tomorrow.
Another great video, thanks for sharing.

Yes, I don't understand the no dogs rule.

At least there are floors were you can take a breather.

Thanks, it's well worth it!
Wow looks stunning on the water. It would not have smelled nice though ( the moat) Did you say besides natural springs for the well it had moat water in too? eek
No, it didn't smell, but I wouldn't want to wash in it, let alone drink it!
What a fantastic castle, visited Kenilworth castle a couple of months ago which was also very good but not surrounded with water like Bodiam is. How the wealthy lived in those days 🤔
Watch how you approach Alderstead Heath. Do not come in from the A23 Hooley side it’s very narrow. Come in an the A 2031 Chaldon side!
Best time to get there is very early moning when the mist is rising from the moat. My last time there I cycled from home and got there maybe 9am.
Yes imagine that is very picturesque.
Another lovely location bob and jenny what A fantasic view from castle Thanks once again for your hard work doing the vids enjoy the nice weather safe journey from Rolf Marivel Baby Ayesha Chance Staffii
Thank you very much.
Poor Poppy she would have loved going up those steps. How long did it take to go round the castle seems on some you are going round for hours.
About half an hour or so. It was longer to walk around it!
