    It actually snowed up at Griffith Park when I was a kid in the late 80s and there was actually snow on that castle just like that picture!

    I’m from Atwater Village, watching this from the Glendale Central Library…. And Ioved every minute of it. Keep ‘em coming.
    (And yes, the library video brought me here.)

    I love the shot of Red Car on trestle over Fletcher Drive in LA. As a kids we would always ask to stop at the Curries Mile High Ice Cream stand on San Fernando Road near Fletcher Drive. I remember that trestle very well. Later in early 70’s I lived on Waverly Drive nearby. I think Glendale is great but its downtown and walk ability was destroyed by the huge Glendale Galleria eating up part of Brand Blvd.

    Glendale was also a "sundown" town.
    Attended high school there early 1960's.

    As children, we would walk from Eagle Rock into Glendale to see movies at the Alex, the Roxy, the Capital and the Glendale theaters. Tickets were $1 to $1.50 back then. Sometimes they'd have free popcorn, too. Don't throw any at the pretty girls to get their attention because they might get angry with you instead of grow sparkling eyes when they'd turn around.

    Isn't LA Crescenta part of Glendale ? I remember a bar there on foothill boulevard called Lady Jane's !!!!!

    • @mjwbulich
      @mjwbulich 3 месяца назад +1

      Half of LaCrescenta is in Glendale but it's called Crescenta Highlands now(none of the locals actually call it that). The other half is unincorporated Los Angeles but all the schools are in the Glendale Unified School District. Lady Jane's was in Montrose on Honolulu Ave. It was torn down and turned into an apartment complex.

    The area was “inhabited” by the Tongva people, see how they minimize their existence on that land. We are not going to mention Glendale’s history of racist policies and practices? Of course not right!?

      Yes, Glendale was a sundowner town. Today it's not only one of the safest places in Los Angeles and California but one of the safest cities of its size in the country. Coincidence, I think not.

      @@mjwbulich if black people weren’t disenfranchised, redlined and sabotaged at every given opportunity Glendale would be just as safe as it is today, the problem is White people do not want to see Black people at the same economical and social levels as them and they surely would not choose to have black neighbors or coworkers if they had a choice in it. The damage has been done and America will pay the price sooner or later. Enjoy your safe White/Armenian Glendale for now…
