Hi both. February 1971, what a day. Freddie Goodwin put a 16 year old in the line up. It was a cold day but, T.F. scored 4. I remember his emotional tears as he was taken off with 10 minutes to go. Great analysis. Enjoy the memory.
Nice job on Bolton lads; I have only seen bits and pieces of Bolton this season, but I think you’re about right that they will try to hold the ball. Possession and how it’s used (as usual 😂) will be the key. You know what I mean lol. You’re also right that every team sees Blues as a “free hit” and try mad stuff on match day. Never a dull moment…2-0 I think. KRO.
Thank you very much for your comment Matt which is greatly appreciated. It will be interesting as Bolton are one of the teams in the league that like lots of possession. This should suit us as they are likely to use their wing backs a lot which will hopefully create spaces behind for us to exploit. KRO!
Hi both, great breakdown video as per usual! I think I agree I want Stansfield and May starting together. I do think May isn't suited to an alternative role other than a number 9, that's no disrespect to May as he's a class number 9 i just think he looks lost at times when he's floating around and doesn't have the same impact. I think Stansfield has more to his game to play in different positions whether on the right or the left and it allows Willumson to play in the 10 which is his best role.
Thanks Ben, greatly appreciate the comment mate and it will be interesting to see what CD does tonight as we also have a few out on the injury table, KRO! :)
For me May at no 9. I agree with what Matt alluded to re: Jay Stansfield, at 21 he is our future while for me we need to get the best out of Alfie May now & if that means Jay on the bench or the left/right then so be it. First order of business is getting out of League 1. The other priority for me is to ensure that other clubs can't get their hands on our manager ever - for me he is so far beyond any expectations I had when he took over - am very impressed with him. If you had told me last season Blues were going to play the type of football they are playing now I would have probably expired from laughter yet here we are & it is great to see. Great insight as usual from you both so thanks. Would love to get over & see a game sometime at St Andrews. Enjoy the game. KRO
Thanks Paul, really appreciated the comment. Couldn't agree more about Chris Davies. What a job he has done so far. I have no doubt if the success keeps coming people will start to snoop but they can get lost 😆😆 KRO! :)
I think it’s a tricky one tonight. I’d go with May as the 9, Stansfield left or right with Willimson. May is a tenacious little so and so and will occupy the central defender. Stansfield and Willumson could then exploit the spaces that May will create by his hard work that he always does for the team. KRO
Thanks Paul, I have been hearing Stansfield might still be carrying his knock so maybe not available. Let's see what CD decides to do with the squad, KRO! :)
Bolton are a tricky team to beat…for normal league one teams. Lincoln away is a tough fixture…for normal league one teams. Blues aren’t a normal league one team. Another win tonight KRO.
Sounds crazy to leave one on the bench but been thinking this for a while. I'd alternate Stanno and May. One as a starter and one as a finisher. Loads of games this season and think this would suit this team best. Great show again guys! 👏
Thank you very much for your comment Shane which is greatly appreciated. It’s a real dilemma isn’t it. I would start Alfie as No.9 and start Jay on the left or right. Alternatively, as you say possibly look at rotating them. KRO!
Superb yet again & always nice to be educated further on the opposition before watching the game. Just a suggestion, you guys never thought about reaching out to former Blues players to interview? Would be a great watch. Hope we win tonight I'm going 2-1 KRO
Hi guys. I almost completely agree with your team mix. 100% re May and Willummson. But if he’s fit I’d play Stansfield on the right (or left) with Keshi (right or left). I think Stansfield is a special player. And stet everything else. I’m going for a win although I wouldn’t be surprised to see a draw soon. KRO
Thanks for commenting mate. Stanno is definitely a special player and his work rate is exactly what Chris Davies wants to see. I believe he may still be injured tonight but trust CD in how he choose to utilise the players. Thanks again mate, KRO! :)
Totally agree with keeping May as a number 9. He's 31 and while you can teach an old dog new tricks, why change a winning formular. And I'm not comparing Stansfield to Mo Salah but we've seen he's consistent number of goals playing on the right of a front 3. Stansfield like Salah thrives having the space to run into
St.Andrews under the floodlights,I can't see anything other than a Blues win. I think Paik is due a breather, player of the season so far for me but he's played a lot of football including going away for the international break. More than happy for Leonard to start alongside Iwata. Fair dos to Bolton,I recall not so long back they barely had a team to put on the pitch and had to play some of their youth team. I wish them well after tonight but I'll go 3 nil Blues. KRO
That's a good shout and with Mansfield on Saturday he might want to avoid a Charlton 2.0 with tired legs etc. Great shout and wouldn't be surprised to see this, KRO! :)
Afternoon gents. Looking forward to the game tonight. If everyone was fully fit then for me May has the be a 9 and Willummson has to be 10. We lose too much from both their games if they are played in other positions. That leaves Stansfield as the RW and currently Keshi as the LW (swapping with Hansson) with Paik and Iwata in CM I think this is a solid championship team. Enjoy the match tonight - 3-1 for me. KRO
Thanks Ricky, appreciate the comment. I agree that line-up is a solid championship line-up especially Paik and Iwata. They are just incredible together, KRO! :)
Nice podcast again guys. Burnden Park that brings back some memories my first away game, later there was a supermarket built that took up half the away stand and the floodlight mast in the other half. Anyway I expect a few goals tonight so I'm going for a 3-2 Blues win KRO.
I think the fact also their manager is banned and in the stands will help us. They are not a team with greatest concentration, having him not there will defo help us with the amount of pressure we will apply. We will pull them all over the place, him not there they may struggle to organise
This is a great point Michael that we totally forgot to mention. Evatt is currently on a 3 match touchline ban. Thanks for reminding us of this, KRO! :)
Think we need to big up Blues a lot more, we are a superb fluent team, Charlton was an off day and CD won't let that happen too often, we've beaten 4 teams in the top 7 and only played 1 I think in the bottom 7, won't be a walkover but I'm going for a comfortable win tonight
If J Stansfield is fit he has to play. I would put him on the left and have Scott Wright on the right .Anderson on the.bench 3-1 Blues. Another great podcast guys loving them.
The strength in depth is serving us well as it's providing competition for places, and we're more than coping with injuries and suspensions. The beauty of having such a strong squad is the beauty of not having to rush players back from injury. We do tend to rest/sub the same players though for the most part and it's easy to understand why. However, with the games coming quick and fast and as the season progresses it will be interesting to see how Chris Davies manages this. I would be more than happy to see Leonard be given a start. Of course, Paik and Iwata are the first choice pairing but it's important that Leonard gets some valuable minutes too and he won't let us down. He's a quality player and his inclusion from the start would enable Paik or Iwata to have a rest. There's an argument to be had for not changing a winning side (injuries aside) against a bit of squad rotation with a number of games being played in such a short period of time. The quality and strength in depth is a lovely problem for Chris Davies to have. The atmosphere for the Huddersfield game was a bit flat, I felt, so I really hope that Blues start well tonight to help with the atmosphere as well as the obvious need to start games better and not concede such sloppy and poor defensive goals. I think if we start well we win 2 or 3 -0 or if we have our usual slow start and concede first we we will win 2 or 3 - 1. I guess that reflects a confidence that either way we will win the game and keep the promotion push well and truly going. Regardless of the scoreline, this will be another big test for us, but one that I do expect us to pass with all things taken into consideration. KRO 💙
Thank you very much for your comment Richard which is greatly appreciated. As you point out the strength in depth this season is fantastic and even if we have players out we have others waiting in the wings who are equally as effective. The atmosphere against Huddersfield was a little flat but to be fair the weather was miserable which never helps, but it should be better tonight. I hope we start better as conceding early goals always gives us a maintain to climb. KRO!
@BCFCRoyalBlue fairweather fans 🤣🤣😁 It was a miserable night weather wise. They'll be a few of those over the next few months. Let's hope we find our voices tonight. A good start would definitely help! KRO 💙
My first ever Birmingham game was at home against Bolton in 2011 and we won 2-1 on that day. Of all the 8 games Birmingham games I've seen over the years, every time I've seen us win, the result has been 2-1! So it seems fitting to get that same result again, I hope! Going to predict May and Wright to score but after Bolton take the lead because we'll get off to a classic 'Birmingham City start'
Thank you very much for your comment which is greatly appreciated. It seems like you are a good luck charm and we wound definitely take another 2-1 win! KRO!
I'm loving the fact that the new 'classic blues' or 'typical blues' is now the fact that we give the opposition a goal only for them to never see the ball again 🤣🤣💙
Completely agree with Gary Alfie May best as number 9 then can try out Stansfield on both left and right see which is best and if doesn't work just Alternate them up front. Easy this management game 😂
Thank you very much for your comment Courtney which is greatly appreciated. We have to be mindful that all teams up their games against us so we will need to be right on it from the start. KRO!
Went to see Blues at Burdon park, half the visitors end had been sold to a big shop and the loo's were a wall with a drain no roof. It took my late Dad and I took ages to get out of the car park as the Bolton fans had us hemmed in. Right dump.
Thank you very much for your comment Bob which is greatly appreciated. We’ve been to a few old stadiums over the years and seen some real sights! Stadiums are generally much better these days but I do have some fond memories of the older stadiums, including our own! KRO!
@@BCFCRoyalBlue The last time we were in the third tier Dad and I went home and away, some amazing places. I loved St James Park Exeter and playing Chester at Macclesfield as they didn't have a ground, plus sliding down the grass bank behind the goal at the old Wigan ground, great memories. Sadly I live in Cambridgeshire and struggle to get a ticket away, which is good and sad at the same time.
@@FourOaksBlue I bought mine a few days before the original match was cancelled, I think there will be a few tickets available due to it being a midweek match.
How do you know that every team you have played the opposition have upped there game. we get around 20k every home game so the attendance will not be a problem. The money you have spent you should walk this league but lets hope ffp dont come in to spoil your party.good luck for the game i predict a 3-1 win to your lads.
Thank you for your comment Owen which is greatly appreciated. We watch teams play us and then we see them a few games later and they look a shadow of the team that played us. Teams have nothing to lose and can therefore have a go at us especially at home. As always we are expecting a tough game and we know that Bolton are a decent team so this should be close. KRO!
@owencrompton3713 Bayern Munich? Who? 🤣🤣 if you don't already understand what that means, you will do, if you're attending the game this evening 😁 Safe travels if you are. Oh, and FFP or whatever it's called these days don't apply in League One. So Blues have been very shrewd in making the most of those set of circumstances, which ironically, in many ways, being relegated into League One has benefited us in being able to put together the squad we're very fortunate to have. That being said, I would've preferred us not to have been relegated, but here we are. Hopefully and at the first time of asking, we will get promoted back to the Championship, and you're right in what you say, Blues have spent a lot of money, so we should do well. The amount of money spent is somewhat inflated by the Stansfield signing. That being said, we have also spent a decent amount on a number of other players. We needed to bring players in as we got rid of a fair few, some deadwood on big money and those surplus to requirements. We've dipped into the loan market as well as sending a number of players out on loan. There's a lot that has changed in a relatively short amount of time and just throwing money at something doesn't guarantee success, it has to be managed well and Chris Davies and his team are doing a fine job. This is Chris Davies' first number one job, of course, so that in itself is another factor to take into consideration. So far, so good, with the performances for the most part being excellent and points on the board very pleasing. There's a very long way to go, but hopefully, we will continue to get the results we need to become a Championship side again. Tonight's game will not be easy and will provide another difficult test, which I hope that we will pass. KRO 💙
It gets a little repetitive talking how tough the challenge will be against these sides , we are miles ahead of these teams ,"best team ever in lge 1" being banded about ,, well said on team should stay the same , team comes first not individual... CD has to be ruthless..kro
Thanks for the comment David, greatly appreciated but with all due respect people thought the same about Charlton and that didn't really go to plan. Every team steps it up against blues so we need to ready and respectful to everyone. Thanks again, KRO! :)
@BCFCRoyalBlue come may ,you will see this wasn't a challenge, I'm just saying it now ,plus we havnt even played teams down the bottom ,I'm not saying we can't lose games but come on we are levels above ..kro
Morning guys. I'll go with your line up but for the first 20 minutes a formation of 7-1-2 Thor as the one with May and Anderson up top. Got to stop conceding early goals somehow !! Seriously I will be happy if we continue playing it about and tiring Bolton as we are doing most teams. 3-1 score for me. KRO. SOTV. Give us a shout from me please. Sam.
Haha! 7 at the back. Might be the only way to stop these early goals 😆😆 I will take a 3-1 and looking forward to a game under the lights again, KRO Sam! :)
We had more than 7 at the back when we conceded from the long throw 🤣🤣 I just hope we start well tonight. Surely, the slow and sloppy starts have got to stop at some point! KRO 💙
Another challenging game but hopefully our quality shows. I'm a bit concerned about the amount of niggly injuries we are getting recently. I wonder if the training is a bit intense? KRO.
Thank you very much for your comment Paul which is greatly appreciated. We are picking up a few injuries however the good thing this season is that we have a strong squad. KRO!

@@BCFCRoyalBlue I live in Dawlish so it's not for me 😉😉😉
I am in Tiverton so will try for tickets too
@@FourOaksBlue I bought mine a few days before the original match was cancelled, I think there will be a few tickets available due to it being a midweek match.
Well done boys, what an achievement if we win tonight. We're going to give somebody a real hiding sometime soon , let's hope it's tonight.KRO
Thanks mate, I think you’re right. At some point this season we are going to give a team a hammering. As you say, hopefully it’s tonight, KRO! 🤣
I Don't think Stansfield will even be in the squad a strand calf is normally 2 weeks out.
Is that what it is? I thought it was niggle but hadn’t heard much more. I might have missed it :)
KRO!
@@BCFCRoyalBlue Well that's what the England medical staff reported it has. Blues staff haven't reported otherwise so I assume that's correct.
It is Novel to not be playing them having to win to avoid relegation 😂
Thank you very much for your comment Pauly which is greatly appreciated. That is very true! KRO!
Keep Alfie up top put Jay on the bench use if needed .
Thanks for commenting Mark, greatly appreciated, KRO! :)
KRO!
@@BCFCRoyalBlue went to bayern munich only a few years back and was a 2-2 draw.Going to brum is neither here or there for the average bolton fan.
@owencrompton3713
Bayern Munich? Who? 🤣🤣 if you don't already understand what that means, you will do, if you're attending the game this evening 😁
Safe travels if you are.

BLUES 2 - 2 BOLTON
First draw prediction in the comments today, interesting! Thanks Frank, greatly appreciate the comment. KRO! :)
2 - 1 blues
Thanks mate. I will take this, KRO! :)
Might be the only way to stop these early goals 😆😆
I will take a 3-1 and looking forward to a game under the lights again, KRO Sam! :)
We had more than 7 at the back when we conceded from the long throw 🤣🤣
I just hope we start well tonight.
KRO!
