Without doubt the best looking Volkswagen ever. I had seven (7) of these in a row as a company car. Beautiful car. The seat must have been the Irish spec. Mine all had electric 6 way adjusting seats. Also the DSG gearbox is great - I worked in London, couldn't do the left leg pumping - mine used to do 45-50 MPG (Diesel).

Very nice review Bob! The exterior intro you made pointed really good aspects and the editing was very good too.
Its good to see how truly this car affected you and your team in a very positive final result for us viewers, fulling us with superb and honest information mixed with wonderful, simples but well done entertainment.
Can't wait for the final review of the Toyota GT86 and hope for a review of CT200h F Sport :)
    Keep up the awsome work!

Let me start off by saying, I am a one person operator; that is to say I do all the filming, presenting, editing and running of the web site and youtube. I also do all the travel alone, so every video you see here is just me...alone.
Second, there is no budget. I get no funding everything you see comes out of my pocket and my own time.
Third, on the matter of someone younger and more attractive see point one.
Fourth, I film in 1080p and put it on youtube in 720p because no one watches 1080p

Hi Bob - Cracking, informative review. I'm loving this car (test drove a GT version 140BHP), but my choice is simple.......
One year old 320d M Sport Auto for around £25k or a new CC R-Line Auto for £26.5k (VW deal with 0% finance!).
That lovely squidgy M steering wheel and driver position is clouding my judgement - any thoughts?
Cheers from Wales and good luck in the 6 Nations.

It souldn't be an option on the CC, just hold down the open doors button on the keyfob and all the windows open. You can do the same with closing the windows if yiou hold down the lock doors button.

Take the CC, the A6 only really gets good with a 3.0ltr diesel. The 2.0 is the same in the CC as it is in the A6. Only take the A6 if you need a bigger back seat and slightly bigger boot.

***** do you know that the CC is also available with the Quattro? (177hp 2.0 TDI 5 - 6,5l per kilometer) The problem with the MMI is, that the system is pretty much an old one. I am a huge Audi fan,to buy an A5 for more money with less stuff in it is not worth it though - but that is just my opinion.
You should also not compare the CC to the A4. The A4 is smaller than the CC. CC vs A5 Sportback is acceptable, never mind that the A4 and A5 have the same body work.
If you want to compare the A4 with a VW car, take the Passat, it's the same class.
BUT that fact is absolutely true, Audi cars are more refined and more sporty but also more seen on the streets. You should always take a look at the money you have to pay.
CC got almost all you can get in there from the factory, like bi-xenon headlamps, parking pilot, seat heaters for the front seats, navigation system and so on. By Audi cars you have to pay extra for all that stuff.

I bought a 2010 Black CC and I loved it so much that when the newly redesigned model came out in 2012 I got the 2013 model CC Sport Luxe Model with DSG. My previous car was a BMW 5 Series and before that a Mercedes E Class AMG. Even though those other cars were much more powerful and obviously had a more prestigious badge, hands down the CC is still my favorite. I honestly wanted the Merc CLS but I just didn't want to be spending all that money in a car so I compromised and got the CC and I've been very happy.
I've been driving the CC now for almost 5 years, without any mechanical problems except the passenger side window going down on its own. (I've had it checked at VW and they couldn't figure out the problem) I get excellent gas mileage and my 2013 VW CC has now reached 41K miles. So far I've only done oil changes and maintenance (only free until 30K miles). 3 years later I still get comments from people how gorgeous this car is (I got the black brown metallic color). The new CC is coming out and I'm debating whether to get a BMW again cuz I've been driving the CC for so long now but frankly I'm very happy with this car. The fuel economy, the two tone interior, the great sound system and responsiveness of the car has been a pure joy to drive.

I've been the proud owner of a 2008 CC for the last four years. I'm still as enthousiastic about it as Bob is... ;-)
However, I feel the new CC is a little less beautiful as the original one (especially the front) so I decided to order a BMW 320d Touring, also because the lesser taks for the BMW.
I'm yet to find out if I like the BMW as much as the CC...

I own a CC diesel with 150,000 miles on the clock. Its been fairly reliable but now starting to let me down on a regular basis. Also had the radio / Nav unit stolen 4 times now, which is common in Leeds area apparently.Wish I had got the 18 inch alloys and not the 19 inch, as the ride can be a bit harsh around town.Always go for the DSG gearbox, which in my opinion makes this car fun to drive.

I love my 2010 CC! I get the "nice Mercedes" compliment almost daily, the best part is when you proudly laugh and say "it's a VW". People usually double take at that. The problem with ours in the states is that we don't get the diesel, just the 2.0t and the 3.6 4motion. I can wholeheartedly say that it's one of the best cars I've driven because it's composed, balanced, and quick when you want it to be. It truly is a livable car. Even the 2.0t that I have can get roughly 800 miles out of a tank.

Are you really comparing the CC with the CLS? Because I do happen to own two (two different generations) at the moment, and I've driven this cc and the previous passat cc because I really liked them, but the CLS is in a very different league.... so is a Bentley compared to a CLS let alone a passat :D
And apart from the people who know what's a CLS, they don't spit or do anything on them, people notice them on the road rather than envy the driver because a CLS is a wide and slung car.

  • @set2light

I'm gonna have to agree with the comments below. VW servicing costs are positively prohibitive. Basically, people are getting ripped off. My Manager's latest service on his Golf R32 cost him $3000 AUD. Now that's total BS! Reliability issues are well known too, especially with DSG. My god, any repair bills outside of warranty will bleed you dry
Bob, please show us which fuse releases the electric brake.

  • @Sherukka
    @Sherukka 12 лет назад

Sorry if I sound negative but too many of my friends have suffered from TSI and DSG -problems and VW always tries to blame the customer. PSA has same kind of problems with the clogging of the valves with their BMW-engine but the chain cam is working better (not perfect that one either). Direct injection is good for keeping CO2 down but is insane because it's bad for the engine and that can't be good for the saving the nature?

  • @Sherukka
    @Sherukka 12 лет назад

Chain cams always has a tendency to stretch. I think VW has a working tensioner now but I am not 100% sure. 100% sure is that if you park your car in a steep hill, and you only let the car roll, the chain cam can jump and you probably know what that means when you start the engine? This is really a too easy way to destroy the engine and should be fixed by a recall. Can't be sure if this is fixed but if VW act as they have done till today, nothing will be fixed and no recalls will be made.

  • @Sherukka
    @Sherukka 12 лет назад

Sorry for my spelling in advance. TSI direct injection cases valves to be clogged and also the EGR has a tendency to be clogged and this can happen for example (not even worst case) every 30000 km and the engine has to be cleaned, this will happen for all sooner or later (100%). "Old style" injection always keeps the valves clean = better for reliability.DSG in petrol versions has a tendency to break down "any time" and the construction hasn't still been fixed (will it ever be?).

Thanks! I'm not sure where you will get the information because somehow car journalists won't write about this whatever evidence is shown to them. EU is driving the car industry by way too high CO2-directions and it will go just the other way -> reliability goes way down. :(

Why VW Corp is surprised to see US sales going down? It is the bad quality that eroded the trust and market share. I have bought a VW CC 2014 R line 2.0 T in September 2013 and it had issues after issues from Wastegate rattle, clock springs, sway bar etc. Even after taking it 5 times and 4 clock springs later, the car makes loud rattling noise on regular Highways in Texas. I just can’t imagine a 35K USD car could make such rattling noise from the steering column area. The VW Tech came out with an excuse “normal characteristics” whereas cheaper Jetta & Passat do not make that sound on the same road surfaces. How could you fix quality control issue when this pervasive nature exists from the front line VW technicians? How could they flag issues to rectify parts design flaws if they play this game? VW CEO can dream on to be # 1 but he can’t rattle his way up to number 1!

It wasn't much more difficult getting the car seats in and it shouldn't be a problem so long as you aren't changing them in and out every day. You might want to check the fitment of your seats because there's quite a slope on the back seats, ISO fixings stop the problem but they aren't cheap.

Oh a day off would be lovely, I'd like to go for a drive without a camera some day! It's as good as anything Audi although the Audi interior has it on materials but there's a huge price difference between this and say a well specced A5, I'd have the CC first

I own a 2013 cc v6 4-motion and totally love it . Im now retired and worry some moron with no insurance will run into me . My car has only 44 k miles on it and drives like new . There is nothing if i had to replace it with the luxury & value and options for the same money out there .

Very different cars, Superb is like a limo and the CC is a coupe but I do see the attraction for the Superb

The CC is much better. It looks great, drives well and is a VW. What else do you need?

    An entertaining review!
He missed out a few bits about the CC like the generous size of the boot, the comfort options, the differences with the R-Line version (which is more powerful), and some of the snags like how how water 💦 run off from the windscreen can enter the into the interior if you’ve got your window slightly or fully down (when using the wipers), or the annoying issue of the key fob boot open button being accidentally pressed if you have your keys in your pocket.
I own a late 2015 R-Line CC which is very comfortable with full leather interior, heated front seats, climate control, 6 speed tiptronic/steptronic gear changing, DVD player/Sat-Nav/DAB radio etc as standard, which I’ve had from new, so whilst it does have its good points, there are things about the car which I think VW could have got right before releasing the model although they are very minor issues.

Doesnt matter. You'll still look like someone's grandfather driving it. Nice interior though.

VW Ireland recently did a complete overhaul of the servicing system here, there's much more affordable pricing now. Maybe thery'll roll something out in Aus like that too

I had that as upgrade rental car. We had so much luggage and the baby pram. no problem at all - the trunk is huge. Good we had the automatic, parking sensors, and the advanced (live) naive. Together it was so easy and cool to drive straight from the airport after a long flight. eats the autobahn kilometres and like the french countryside!

With VW the automatic will probably be a DSG and that's as smooth as it gets. It depends on your driving style, if you like driving hard down some back roads you might want a manual but other than that for day to day driving an Auto is the most comfortable.
Yes the CC has a slight edge over the tested 3 series and I say tested because I've been in a few others that were way better than the sales rep spec model that's in the video. Choose with care.

They are totally different to drive, other than that they have the same engines and share the same parts so they will be as reliable as eachother. I'd have the CC hands down, better styling and it's much cooler to be in. It would suit me even with two kids.
Tiguan is a softroader and a little bland to look at but it's still a decent car. I'd take the CC just for the looks!

I said they looked alike and that's it. In Ireland, envy is not the word I would have chosen but each to his own :D

Cheers, I'm glad you like the videos. There's nothing like a bit of hindsight to make you realise a mistake, while there's something very cool about the Challenger it does lake the style and refinement of the CC

I'm so damn jealous! These new CC's, for some reason, will never reach the USA let alone North America. (sob)
