It's amazing how much space they have packed into this 42. I would almost have to see them side by side to see the difference in volume. The saloon looks to be about the same size. I wonder if the bows and sugar scoops are slightly truncated to make it smaller. Of course, this would effect performance but would make a more affordable boat without giving much space away to the liveaboard cruiser.
Picking mine up early next year. Wish I could have sailed on one before buying as I don't know how they sail but hoping there is good preformace especially in light winds.
As I am 6'3, I am always curious of headroom also. The Leopard website says that the Leopard 42 has headroom of 6'7 in the saloon and the cabins are 6'4. I hope that provides insight to your question.

It's a water tight door, with plenty of drainage en avant. No worries with that.

I like the space aboard this boat, very good design there, but it is not a very good looking craft overall, kind of ugly really.
