I was diagnosed this year with ADHD at 38... and what led me there was that SSRIs were not working and I was getting worse. It's been a journey but I know I will make it.
Apparently, SSRIs don't always play nice with ADHD, esp after a long period of taking them.
One tip for anxiety: you might want to discuss propranolol with your doc. My psychiatrist prescribed it to just bring down the "temperature" of the system and counteract anxiety by bringing heart rate down.

I’ve never been medicated for my anxiety and talk therapy has always worked. My ADHD diagnosis actually came because my anxiety is under control and I’m not longer in therapy and managing on my own.
