  • A marine biologist PhD student is somewhere in the Middle of the North Atlantic ocean...
(this is how this story should start ^^)
I am very excited to share with you the life aboard a research vessel.
What do we actually do aboard a research vessel? What kind of work can be done there?
Can anyone guess what happens when you send a Styrofoam to the deep ocean? How can we study deep waters that are 5000 m/16404 ft deep? In this third part of my oceanographic expedition I answer both these questions. Here you can see how marine biologists, chemists, physicists or anyone else who studies the deep ocean waters can have access to said water. Enjoy the magic of science and technology!

That styrofoam experiment was crazy. As a regular American citizen I never would have thought of an interaction like that

with it being an open ended vessel, i didnt think anything would happen to it, but that is very interesting to note, and as you said the water squeezed the air out of the styrofoam and i find that very interesting, what would happen if you send a water balloon (from the surface water) to depth? and at point would it explode???

I am really interested what you eat when you're there for days, is it just canned beans and stuff? and that styrofoam cup is the cutest, how it shrunk

After finishing research do you write lab reports?

Scientists have to write research papers. It is the way we have to share our experiments/findings with the world and other scientists.
