The ship designs in this game are gorgeous. I'm a sucker for the massive explosions of capital ships, and the battles between them you notice on the different maps across the eras.

5:51 They really did well on recapturing the destruction of the super star destroyer, with a little CGI update. They gave it a nice glow reflection on where the bridge was destroyed and the platform of the Death Star has interesting detail along with the ship's convincing explosion!
Seeing this makes me think a strategy game with these graphics would do well.

DarkStar189 Empire at War was the closest thing we got. The graphics are obviously outdated but it was super fun sending in fleets of ships And fighters after each other to watch them duke it out.

The Resurgent-class Star Destoyer has a backup bridge in the case that this one at 1:06 is destroyed.
Also, destroying the bridge isn't gonna blow the whole ship; the only reason the Executor was taken down merely by destroying the bridge was that it lost control and was pulled into the Death Star II's gravitational field. Some sources also state that the engines on the Executor were damaged.

The Executor also had a backup bridge, but the officers who tried to man it after the loss of the main bridge were unable to get the ship under control in time to avoid crashing.
I'd say the Executor was in the middle of a manoeuvre, but with the bridge gone they couldn't stop it in time.

although a cool idea it wouldn't do much of a difference considering turbo lasers were made for capital ship to capital ship and although they do alot of damage (in universe) they have a very slow turn rate and firing speed it would make more sense to have point defense lasers has a reinforcement since they were made and used has anti stargfighter weapons

Here’s a cool idea for a game mode: So each team spans in a corvette (maybe even star Destroyers or dreadnoughts) and there is a captain, and the rest of the players are normal soldiers. The soldiers will Man the Cannons while the captain drives. And small transport crafts would be able to deploy from the ships to board the other.

the only gripes i have with the visuals in this game is that when the smaller frigates are destroyed its just ship sized fireball and it disappears out of thin air. No debris or anything, kinda ruins the immersion for me. Other than that this game looks gorgeous

In bf1 2015 you could see star destroyers and rebel frigatrs slowly go down and explodes in these bright yet sharp colors (another thing that bf2 doesnt have,colors are not sharp)

MemesMojo Well, in terms of performance it would be taxing on the system. You give a game more improvements in the graphics department, immersion, AI, you sacrifice performance to be able to enjoy the type of realism the game will be able to provide.

I have the feeling that many of these ships lack shields. Like that MC80 at Fondor just took a few turbolaser shots and died instantly. These ships are famous for their shielding, and I doubt a correllian corvette smashing in their ion cannons will change much.
And the premonition stated here will go on to define the poor handling of capital ship combat throughout the franchise...
I want an option to set up a 40v40 galactic assault or space battle game with all AI and then be able to fly around in spectator mode and just watch the battle

@Destractoid That’s how the original Battlefront games were when PS2 was the thing to be. I miss that version honestly that’s what I was expecting when they made these new Battlefront games, so much better and just fun with hella fucking maps to choose from too.

Some of these captures look almost like the movies seeing the capital ships battling. With the focus being only scenery and ships you can't really even tell it's a game. Beautiful.
They included the one thing from Star Wars battlefront 2 (2005) that I wanted (to be able to see the capital ships explode) but all the other good things about the original are gone (infiltration of enemy ships lack of unlock barriers etc)

I used to be a big fan of tactical shooters but recently I've been playing some more casual games like TF2 overwatch and battlefield, but I still didn't find battlefront 2 to be that great

Señor Spook and Ducc, I agree with both of you guys, and would also like to add that the replayability of this game will be tied directly to the refreshments of the DLC maps. The running mindlessly around and shooting, pretty much like the 2015 BF, will get boring.
Heck, in the 2005 you could even ask bots to follow you around and organize some team plays with the AI. Not to mention the multiplayer team play, similar to Battlefield, that started off strong back in that game.
In the end, it's not nostalgia speaking, it's gameplay preference. Team play Vs mindless shooting. I was completely hyped back in the 2015 launch, and was again when I saw the changes that were coming and clone wars. Thought they would reinvent the game, but I guess not. Star Wars, even the movies, are all about teamwork. To see that left out for "Who is more of a badass in pressing the trigger" is somewhat a bummer.
I love the classic explosion effects from the original trilogy when the Death Star explodes and when the super star destroyer hits the Death Star

There is also very good jaw-dropping scene in Battle of Jakku when Iden crash-lands her X-wing on Eviscerator.
In the background there is another Imperial Star Destroyer comming in from behind Eviscerator to its starboard side. When ISD approaches it gots hit by Rebel Ion cannon and starts its emergency alarms yelling all around. That ship makes close-by flight and when ISD passes you can here those engines roaring, trying to gain some speed and altitude. Yet it is not enough and that colossus is going down, hitting ground in high speed.
I know it's just a game scene effect, but when I think about it in a little real way, then I got goose-bumps again. There were men and women serving the Empire, fulfilling their duty and going down with their ship (because there was no sign of rescue pods, so they stayed with their captain). Also they were fighting until the bitter end, still living in hope that they could survive the ion hit (because of full engines throttle).
It's just a detail, yet very impressive :)

There's one scene in particular of the Starfighter Assault Kamino map that I really wish you could have captured in this video. It's the scene of the Separatist Dreadnaught being destroyed by the second Republic Venator Capital Ship right at the transition between Phase 2 and Phase 3/start of Phase 3.

I hate how the massive ships just go poof after an explosion like a firework.
Waiting for battle of coruscant. The best thing they could do is replicate the entire battle of endor. So you can choose between ground and space troops and the ground troops have to destroy the shield generator and only then can the fighters engage into the death star and destroy it

The one thing I miss are missions that transition from space to ground and back... similar to the Death Star assault mission in the previous game... you started out in space, then had to recover a droid and finally battle on the surface of the death star.

Obviously the game has it's flaws... but most people trash talking it haven't (*spoilers*) crashed into the fucking Death Star on a blockade runner in multiplayer, surrounded by rebel corpses with the alarms from A New Hope going off, and had to hijack another ship to escape before it all fucking explodes.
They wouldn't just "blow up" like that, it'd be a series of smaller explosions untill the ship was too damaged to function, then they're either scuttle or be boarded

Amazing Co-op idea pitch: Get five friends together in an online party. Four of those guys are rebel marines, aboard a rebel MC80 cruiser. It has been disabled, and the lights are flickering and the atmosphere is very eerie. The odd man out, the fifth man plays as Darth Vader, who boards the MC80 with a few dozen stormtroopers (which are AI). If the rebels can get to the escape pods and get off board with the "special itel data tape," they win. However, if Vader kills all four rebels and seizes the data, he wins. It would be a lot of scary, action packed fun with friends, where you never know what threat could be around any corner.
GoatsMcGee It would be cool until you realize how overpowered the heroes are with star cards against less than 10 infantrymen. You take down the heroes by sheer firepower alone, without numbers you'd just all get killed with a lightsaber throw and that would be the end

They hardly ruin the game. They're gone right now, and sure they'll be back, but if you actually play the game when there's no microtransactions then it won't matter if people buy them when they come out, you'll be ahead of them anyway.
