    Thank you for the step by step video, like many others have said I saved a TON of money as well being able to do this myself. I don't know if you're aware or the others who watch the videos, but I was able to do "loan a tool" from my local auto parts store and that also saved me a bunch of money on tool costs. Thank you again.

    Great Video ! Question. I have a 2009 Chevy Silverado that has a vibration in front only when I go to slow down or come to a stop. I've had the front rotors and rear drums changed, front and rear brakes changed, rear cylinders changed due to leak and just had the front left wheel bearing changed, and it still has a vibration ! It's driving me crazy, any ideals ? the mechanic shop said the only other thing it could be is the ball joints, what do you think ?

    • @Jolaya03
      @Jolaya03  2 года назад

      I wouldn’t suspect ball joints, but they can be checked to be sure there is no play, have u checked wheels for balance and drive shaft?

  • @michaelconnor5265

    aren't you supposed to torque top arm at ride height and use leverage to seat the threads

    • @Jolaya03
      @Jolaya03  2 года назад +2

      Yes, I did raise it with jack to tighten
      It’s so u don’t put to much twist on the rubber bushing
      It wasn’t to far off from ride height and it was going to get alignment at the shop 5 miles away in which they would loosen and readjust for camber.
      Even though I put back where it was, I personally still send to get alignment done and let them know to re-torque.

    Great video I just watched. Looking for parts now for my 2013. The TTX looks superior. Why not buy there upper control arm? Also, if changing the upper, is there a reason to not just change the lower? Thanks

    • @Jolaya03
      @Jolaya03  2 года назад +1

      Customer wanted the regular ones for uppers, I usually replace the upper control arm because there’s not much of a price difference for the ball joint by itself or just the whole upper control arm and they are super easy to replace compare to lower.
      The lower control arm bushings where in great shape and all they needed was ball joints, also no point in replacing considering price difference and more labor involved.

    one easy mistake is to pull the hub from the cv joint. this is a really bad method because you risk pulling the INNER CV joint loose which is a real pain in the rear end to reinsert. The BEST way is to gently TAP the outer cv joint to break it loose and then from the back side, PULL IT out of the hub. In this way, you can remove the cv joint from the hub but NOT RISK removing the inner cv joint. Trust me when I say this...its going to be stuck in the hub side. So yanking it will only result in your pulling the inner cv joint out and then you can say hello to a hellish bunch of hours trying to reattach it. again, don't try to pull the hub out from the cv joint. tap the cv joint from within the hub and then pull the cv joint from the hug (the backside). work at this slowly and might even spray from break free lube to help loosen it up.
    also, this video shows doing this on a lift with a screw jack type plate jack. almost NO ONE as a DIY has this equipment. In order to do this for the typical DIY, two floor jack stands, and a floor jack, PLUS at least 2 heavy duty bungies or towing straps are necessary.
    also the 43 millimeter bolt that holds the hub MUST BE torqued to spec...if you do not have a torque wrench calibrated and able to go 140-150 foot pounds, you should not even attempt to do this job. It may be possible to get "loaner tools" from some of the auto stores, but make sure. Also you will want to have a complete set of wheel lug threaded inserts. on almost all older trucks, you are very likely to crack/break at least a few of them. it is best to have these threaded studs before you start this job. even if they don't break, replace them anyway...it good practice.
    I love this video, but sensibly, realistically, most diy just do not have the tools to do this kind of work.
