shout out to Haboo for interacting with chat even though hes setting world records.
Well to be fair, a lot of times you can’t tell the difference between a potential WR run and a failed attempt until you’re pretty far into a speedrun. So, you can’t exactly treat each one as if it’s a perfect run, otherwise you’d never be interacting with chat at all.
And to think this run could have been a sec faster if he didn't water the rock in beginning

For some reason, watching skull cavern speedruns are so satisfying but i can't explain it lol

Idk about specifically skull cavern speedruns but there's something about the sheer amount of skill and optimization that is just so satisfying to see imo.

I believe it's about the leaderboards for his Roguelike mod that released a few days ago, there's a speedrunning competition for it

Love your videos, editing and commentary! I'm new to Stardew Valley. Play it with my wife multi-player and feel like our days go so much faster than 1 player mode. Learned a lot from watching you though, when I can keep up with what's going on lol.
They do ! Time doesn't pause when you guys pause.. in single player time pauses when you go to inventory/pause

For the maze idea, why not commission a bunch of people to each make their own maze? Each person only makes one, and they have a month to make it so they can come up with something creative. That way you only have to make one yourself. You could commission like 9 people and then make one yourself and that's 10 mazes
better yet, make it a community challenge
people will just make them for free

this videos already a year old, so not sure if the topic is still of interest or already solved atp, but for the rng maze floors, you could have a preset number of solutions to the maze, all starting from a central point allowing you to randomize the rotation and filler pathways at will. so while theres a set number of correct pathways/configurations, the rotation and random paths could make it seem more random. again tho thats probably all easier said than done.

I'm curious: when buying seeds, is there a reason you hold Shift to buy 5 at a time instead of Shift + Ctrl to buy 25 (like the 145 Pumpkin seeds at about 41:40)? That could save about 20 mouse clicks, I think.

I think he’s playing on an older version of the game when moving the bed wasn’t an option.
I'm pretty sure he plays on an outdated version that doesn't let him. The benefit is that explosive ammo is much cheaper and available earlier (I think).

@@drakorangefire8790 Yes because in 1.4.1 and later you have to be level 8 combat to craft and buy explosive ammo which would waste so much time

i tried the animation cancel for like an hour and couldnt get it without failing 5x in a row each time first, the buttons are awkward for it. (also, is it possible on console?)
people usually set macros on their mice to animation cancel. not sure if thats what haboo does, but it does make it faster! especially when moving your cursor around
speedrunners just cheat and use third party software to macro it. really stupid
@@spinnever I believe he explains it many times during streams (saw it once in his WR VOD): he remaps the keys, so that he's still has to press all the keys, but remaps just make it easier to press. IIRC he remaps Delete to Space and both Right Shift and R to shoulder buttons on his mouse respectively. this setup is quite easy to replicate, and how I do it on my playthroughs: just keep pressing the shoulder buttons with your thumb, and press Left Click and Space alternately. this way you can learn to time the alternate press to do the actions consistently
once you master it, there's no way you want to play Stardew Valley without animation cancelling. bye game controllers

No, it is not possible on console. I did find that you can hammer crush (idk if that's what they call it, but the name I'm going with) on console. But it's not nearly as fast as using the mouse wheel.
It's rapid pressing vs moving a finger up or down. But does work if u can mash fast enough
I do not understand why he doesn't like to break gray stones in mines, they not only can have a staircase to the next floor, but with a 100% guarantee drop one, or more stones

I don't know the exact reason but it's something about how mines generate floors, basically it's predictable what is going to be in a crate to a certain degree
And to think this run could have been a second faster if he didn't Queen of sauce in the beginning
Yo, can someone tell me how you get the large explosion radius with the slingshot? I use explosive ammo and all i get is the small radius of a cherry bomb size.
I think he plays an older version of the game where the ammo was stronger

I might be missing something but how was he able to purchase explosive ammo? I thought you needed to be combat level 8 before you could purchase it.
He is playing on an older version I believe it is 1.4 but I could be wrong.
Most people speedrun 1.4 since 1.4.1 changed the explosive ammo mechanics, making speed running a lot less fun

How come you never put a chest outside the elevator at the mines? After every 5th floor, you can store items there, so you can pick up even more items over time.
He doesn't really need more than 12 slots he has, i think he used it in other runs tho

They can- i didnt think so either until i broke every rock on a floor apart from the big one and the ladder was under the big one😆

it's hardcoded into the game, so he's just rebound the keys to his mouse. some other people do use macros to AC, but I'm not sure what they are.

Some runs are faster on 1.4, which was before bed moving was possible.

@@reinaldovanzela2256 basically it’s a script that does a series of inputs after every tool use that stops the animation, you could theoretically manually do it, but it requires pausing the game every time you swing

I call shenanigans. you can see level 1 he is chopping so fast, normal animation takes forever. he is animation cancelling somehow and animation cancelling is not even a part of this game.

It is part of the game, as far as I know it's intentional, you can do it on keyboard, and it's allowed in speedruns
