Bought mine a month ago, 2007 model in black identical to this one except mine came with a screen and removable sissy bar. Coming from a 600 Hornet II wanted something between sports and cruiser and was looking for a middleweight, almost went for Kawasaki 650 Vulcan S till I realised how soon I'd grow out of a skinny entry level bike (good though it is.) I ignored all the grim advice and went for something almost double the weight with a 3 times bigger engine and I have to say, provided you don't allow yourself to be intimidated by the size and weight and just get on and ride it, and provided you plan well ahead and are sensible enough on corners to avoid peg scrapes due to the low clearance, and can flat-foot it at a standstill, it is remarkably well balanced and easy to ride. Even the throttle feels smoother and easier to finely adjust for slow manouvres. If new to the leg-forward position I would suggest for the first few times that you pull away in a straight line with plenty of open road in front of you, so your feet can have a few seconds to find those pegs and you get used to the initial weirdness of it before you need to actually do anything. That's what I did and within seconds I felt right at home. Even the chunky handgrips (twice as thick as the Hornet) seem to make fine throttle adjustments easier, and although the weight seems to melt away when you start moving, it's probably one of the reasons (along with the 240 rear tyre) that make the bike feel so stable in a straight line, unlike the Hornet which could be a bit skittish in fast highway traffic especially on a windy day.
I had 4 different models of the VTX1800, and built the greatest road bike of my life out of the last one....have nothing bad to say about it at all....but I do like the sound of some other VTwins over the sound of the 1800. I started on Harleys is probably why I am still tuned to the potato potato sound
Hi Anthony, I love your 1800 please tell me what is the mark of your exhaust ? I just bought a 1800 intruder also, I’d like the same as you but I can’t find it on the internet, sorry my english is not very good :) help me bro thank? my machine is of 2011
I love the looks of the M109r, but I have to add that I really like this version of the headlight more then the more popular one that is normally seen on this bike.
Had my 2008 model for 8 years, never popped out of 2nd, still the same gearbox, had no trouble, low maintenance, goes like a scalded cat and stops with absolutely no fuss. Just sayin'

Harley has the worst engine off all, you get less to get overcharged by the quality you get
