    People asks why Philippines is always poor. Aside from corruption and mismanagement of government. The real answer is it's location on the map;
    1. It's so hot and humid so people are less productive with this weather.
    2. It's on the Pacific Ring of Fire, and that means our country is prone to earthquakes and volcanic eruptions.
    3. Lastly, these kind of typhoons always hit the country in a specific time of the year (June- November).
    On these occasions, Philippine need to always rebuilt the casualties every year which costs money.

      Leaders and politicians can't fully industrialize the country like how SK and Malaysia did so the economy just mostly stagnated since 1960s or even since the 40s. I can't believe the auto assembly industry just disappeared after the 90s

    • @Jahwed
      @Jahwed 2 года назад +1

      We are not really not that poor and Weather does not have anything to do with how "poor" we are so does the Pacific Ring of Fire. And for typhoons we are used to it and it also does not have to do anything with it except it damages property. 90% of the time why we are poor is due to our goverment and corruption.

    Philippines was lucky to not get hit by it, if it did it would be the most powerful Typhoon that hit on land in its peak. And Japan is also lucky because before Tip made landfall in the Southern islands of Japan it weakened down to a mere tropical storm or depression.

    A research paper in 2002 suggested that Typhoon Gay might have been stronger than Typhoon Tip, the most intense tropical cyclone on record. During peak intensity, Dvorak estimated that Gay registered an 8.0 rating for nine consecutive hours, indicating wind speeds of about 315 km/h (195 mph), like Typhoon Haiyan. Satellite imagery also indicated a significantly colder bands of clouds around Gay's eye. Typhoon Angela in 1995 also presented similar features and could have been stronger than Typhoon Tip. As their was no direct observations on the two, comparing the intensities of these two storms is problematic.

Now, this region monitored by many advanced satellite, like Himawari-8 and 9 (Japan), FY-4 series (China), and Geo-Kompsat 2A and 2B(South Korea). Even, a russian satellite Elektro-L also planned to monitor this region

      I'm afraid it's not,if you meant in terms of landfall strength by wind speed,yes, it is. But haiyan isn't a strongest storm in history,that would go to Patricia in 2015 and Typhoon Nancy in 1961 for winds which both had 215 mph winds respectively. For pressure, as far as we know, Typhoon tip is the lowest with a low pressure of 870 MB.
      Hopefully this clears a few things up :)

    • @lorenzopulmano4894
      @lorenzopulmano4894 5 лет назад +2

      @@SC75InvalidNickname Using pressure-wind relationship (is that what it's called?), Typhoon Tip does have the lowest pressure of 870. Using the Dvorak method, however, it is determined that Haiyan could have had the lowest pressure possible with 858 MB (I might be wrong on that, could be higher or lower)

    • @SC75InvalidNickname
      @SC75InvalidNickname  5 лет назад +4

      @@lorenzopulmano4894 it is unlikely it was that low.
      Since Haiyan was moving fast,at a low latitude,in a high EMSLP environment,and the storm had a very tight pressure gradient, are all contributors for the storms relatively high pressure. Another reason why it had a fairly high pressure was Because maximum MPI values at the time supported a maximum low pressure in 880s in MB.
      Hopefully this helps a little :)
      It would be so much better if recon flew into Western pacifc storms like they did decades ago to get readings in the storm, but unfortunately, they stopped doing that long ago before haiyan happened.

    • @lorenzopulmano4894
      @lorenzopulmano4894 5 лет назад

      @@SC75InvalidNickname The 858 MB was derived from post-analysis from a team of British researchers from the RMS and NOAA using satellite imagery, just based off the Dvorak method. (www.wunderground.com/cat6/possible-new-world-record-lowest-barometric-pressure-860-mb, RMS article linked, unfortunately I cannot access it except for the abstract)
      Although (to me) it seems a bit odd that there was relatively significant thunderstorm activity around the eye wall a few hours prior to landfall. I also remember reading somewhere that Haiyan's eye wall replacement cycles did little to weaken (or didn't even weaken at all), and that the storm was undergoing a replacement while making landfall. Just wondering if you could explain. I am in no way a person knowledgeable in atmospheric sciences.
      It is entirely possibly Haiyan could've gotten there, but without recon flights we'll probably never know. That's my 2 cents.
