I agree, greenery is everything. It always blends everything together. I'm obsessed w/ eucalyptus. I like to blend fresh basil and eucalyptus. That creates an excellent cooling scent.
thanks so much for making this! i just moved into our first home and on the other side of a tall concrete wall there is one of these trees! its still tall but (like you said) bushier more than tree like. I LOVE this tree and would like to bring some over to my yard and grow it in a pot where it can be contained and i can use it for the exact same purposes you specified here! great video!! keep em coming!
@HailieBlaire I purchased seeds from eden seeds and Parker seeds and I have 4 beautiful bushes. First two years I had in container and moved as needed. Third year I placed in ground and they survive the winters.
Great video - thanks! Just got one and was worried it would be too big for my garden, but if it can be grown in a container and pruned regularly, it should be fine.
Can i make a question? I bough one and now the new branches are withering i don’t know if is for the weather is like 35degrees here…or is normal cause i moved to a pot?
my eucalyptus suffered from the past winter with very low temperature and snow. Their leaves are moldy now, I cut them, but now I have long steak and some leaves flowering healthy. How I can promote more branch and leaves? I feel if I cut the small brunch he will die.
I have a few dead branches on a small eucalyptus tree I bought yesterday. Should I leave them or cut them? I'd say there's many about halfway up the tree.
I have a small plant in a pot inside. It's not growing, it's losing leaves but not crinkly or water damaged...am I doing something wrong or is this normal?
You don't have to hang them. Just leave them out without water and they will easily dry in a couple of days. Also, the scent comes from the stalk of the plant and not the leaves.
i wonder why the got the name eucalyptus. The leaves are so very different from the eucalyptus trees i am most familiar with which are an elongated leave that hang down.
Two years exactly and I planted two of them today. Thanks for the video. Now I understood what I have to do to make them grow like a tree! I'm just worried because I'm from Brazil and I found some of these trees in higher and colder regions around here, and I live in a city around 1700ft and our weather goes from around 10°C/50°F to 30°C/86°F during the winter and 30°C/86°F to 40°C/106°F or more during the summer. Is it a problem?
They are very easy to grow and aside from a little weeding, they require no special kind of care. All you need is a yard or a small garden (they don't grow very big in containers) to plant them and you'll have plenty for your wedding.
There was a boom, ending during the 1980s in popularity of the silver dollar gum tree in the warmer parts of NZ. They grow very fast and play host to a large magnificent looking caterpillar. But they create problems. They are not a tree for town residential sections; the roots are aggressively water-seeking and will undermine foundations, driveways and clog drains. Nurseries could sell dwarf varieties but I'm not sure. Same caution applies to the only slightly less aggressive liquid ambar and casuarina; keep them away from buildings and formed roadways.
I just purchased 3 from Etsy about 10 minutes ago. FarmerJoePlant Store in New Port Rickey, Fl. The reviews & customer pics were great. I sure hope they flourish!
Great video! I’ve been planning on getting this type of eucalyptus tree but I would prefer it as a shrub rather than a tree as I have a small back yard. I was wondering how to do that, I’ve read that they get massive. I live in the UK, it’s quite cold and rainy here
Hi And Arte, these trees grow brilliantly in the British climate. You can trim to shrub size if you want to. Just don't grow it too near the house,as roots are shallow and spread. Good luck from Ireland( where they grow well too)
Hi that’s not silver dollar eucalyptus it’s the type that starts with gum or gun. Something silver dollar euc along with willow and seeded eucalyptus is the most popular for wedding work the type you have one sees as individual stock and usually placed in a grocery store or i dried flower section of michael’s - I would really love a video on how to preserve the real silver dollar eucalyptus!!!!! Please!!!! 😃
Shelby, it just depends on the size! We had some in 1-gallon size for $6.99 then some in larger 15-Gallon sizes for $29.99. We're out of stock at the moment but hope to get more this summer.
@Hailie Blair I purchased seeds from eden seeds and Parker seeds and I have 4 beautiful bushes. First two years I had in container and moved as needed. Third year I placed in ground and they survive the winters.
There's a good chance it's E. pulverulenta, in which case it'll never grow to be a large tree, regardless if it's pruned or not (usually maxes out at 3-7 metres or 7-23 ft). It's known as the silver-leaved mountain gum in Australia and is naturally found at higher elevations with cold nights in winter so I doubt you'd have trouble with the climate around Tallahassee. Being a mallee eucalypt, it will coppice if cut back almost to the ground once established and that'd give you plenty of low foliage suitable for harvesting.
What species of eucalyptus are you really speaking about? There is actually NO such tree as EUCALYPTUS SILVER DOLLAR - it is a generic term given (usually by florists) for eucalypts that have round leaves- this applies to about 40 different such species. Better to loo for their accurate botanical name

You learn something new every day... 👍👍 Great video ... Shout out from Dublin Ireland 🇮🇪
You're videos are so insightful! That's amazing that the little bees are helped by the bigger bees!🐝🐝

Thank you so much! Such a great explanation 👏 👌 👍
Great video - thanks! Just got one and was worried it would be too big for my garden, but if it can be grown in a container and pruned regularly, it should be fine.
I just bought this same variety of Eucalyptus - I plan to use it near the pool, to hopefully deter mosquitos.

Technically yes, but it is normally propagated by seed.

Do the fresh leaves have lots of essential oils? When dry, can the leaves be easily dehydrated by being hung before being powdered?
You don't have to hang them. Just leave them out without water and they will easily dry in a couple of days. Also, the scent comes from the stalk of the plant and not the leaves.
@@hersheythao can you burn the stalks... like an incense?

If you kept it in a concrete container/pot - would that be better? Thanks for the heads up, I won’t plant mine in the ground
I am having a hard time finding a live plant.
Burpee had them earlier this year.
I just purchased 3 from Etsy about 10 minutes ago. FarmerJoePlant Store in New Port Rickey, Fl. The reviews & customer pics were great. I sure hope they flourish!

Tallahassee Nurseries, do you ship to Florida?
At this time we don't ship beyond Leon County.
@Hailie Blair

Can I Buy. Plant from You
May I request for seeds.
I think it is Eucalyptus goniocalyx (olive barked box tree) and not
Eucalyptus polyanthenos (silver dollar gum tree)
It could also be Eucalyptus cinerea, which has similar leaves and the same common name.
