Nice to see more lovers of Eucalyptus plants here :) And can relate to the questions as not much is known about it. One big note for all, don't give up on a dying or a dead Eucalyptus! It's able to revive from it's stem even after few years. I live in the Netherlands and I've had one since 2015 in a pot outside and it still survives even after it died on me first. It was 8 foot tall when I bought from a local gardening centre for around 20$ at the end of the summer (I thought it was a steal!) but it def. took a beating and died on me after the first year because I didn't know I should cover it up or bring it inside in the winter. I wasn't so 'planty' back then compared to as I have become now ;-) It said winterhardy on the pot LOL...but more care is needed than just thinking okay that's that and just water it haha. But the amazing thing is, as it totally died on me, I kind of left it neglected with the dead stems and branches left on it in that pot for a few years in the corner of my garden as I was rebuilding my whole garden patio and busy with other new plants (bamboo and ornamental grasses! gotta love 'em). Didn't want to throw it away, I always wait very long with doing that kind of thing because I know there always pops up some kind of creative idea or second chance with something like that haha. Summer (2018) it suddenly started to pop up with a tiny new branch from the side of the thick dead stem and all of a sudden I saw it growing! (God, did you listen? ;)) It must have had enough to survive of some rainy periods and then dry out completely for maybe even months (Australia can be like that too right!). Last year I started reading on the internet and found out you should cut the whole old stem away down to about 30 cm above the potting soil. It will react to that with a growing spurt! And oh yes it did. Now one year later it's already 4 feet tall and further growing a new stem from that little side stem it started with! It's creating branches in different directions and all, still a bit thin but that's normal in a pot. Never repotted it nor gave any fertilizer! in all those years.....But will do that in a few days now with all knowledge I have now and see how big it can go. And don't forget to make wheels or some kind of carrier under that pot because it still needs to be moved inside in winter ;) Tie it gently to the old stem or a bamboo stick to support it and fascinatingly after it's dry after a while and you water it again, the next day you will see a small growth taking place again. It's a resilient little guy! Enjoy your Eucalyptus :)))
Your comment gave me hope, my tree dried up, I am not sure why. I let it dry out before watering. I am growing it indoors as it snows. I won't give up.
Wow, I got one a little bit smaller than the one in the video, some leaves felt drier than the others but I wasn't sure what the normal texture is since it is my first eucalyptus... Well now all the leaves are super dry/crispy texture and the smell is not right, I have no idea what to do :(

I just found this channel today. Thank you. I have my first baby blue eucalyptus. I've had it for 2 months and I'm having trouble. My leaves have brown spots. The soil was wet. Thank you so much. I see that I needed to change the location and watering habits. Now I. I'm hopeful that I can take care of this beautiful plant.
I am having quite a bit of trouble with my eucalyptus plant and there really isn’t much info out there about it’s indoor care. I was so happy to see that yours is doing so well and it gave me hope that mine could too! I like forward to the next video with more information about them!

Thank you for these great tips! ♥ I grow Eucalyptus in the garden in a big pot, from seeds. This year was the first year :) I did not know how cold hardy they are. I knew that not much but did not know the exact temperature. One night, I walked through the garden, and it was -1 C. Suddenly, I have my Eucalyptus grab my legs and not let go :) So I pick her up and bring her downstairs to my basement plant room. She is sitting there now, looking so happy, with pretty little flowers at the tips of her branches :)

Any good videos or tutorials you can recommend for pruning? I got mine a year ago and it close to two months ago some mayor branches started to get super dry but close to a month ago new ones are starting to appear on the main steam. Now I don’t know if I should cut them or when (Here in the tropical we only have 2 seasons: dry/wet)

Hi Lucia, I’ve watched your videos lots of times as I’m learning to look after my eucalyptus. I’ve noticed the bottom leaves have a lot of white powder on and I just wanted to make sure that it is healthy. I think my plant is either a small gunnii or a baby blue ❤️
Hi! I'm sorry to hear that 😞 Hm.. this may be related to various factors related to the environment, remember the Eucalyptus generally comes from hot places with lots of sunlight and warmth, like the Mediterranean or Australia... Let's see, could you please send a picture? What kind of container do you have for it? Potting mix? How about light, how much light does it get? And how often do you water it? Sometimes it may be that the air is very dry at home, sometimes just the conditions where you live may not be optimal... Let's try to figure it out together 🌿💜
Great video, but I have a question. After repotting my plant has all of its branches and leaves completely dried up. Should I cut all of them of now, wait untill Spring, or not prune everything at all?
Lucia my eucalyptus has survived about 5 months in my kitchen by an east-facing 2nd storey window but now his leaves are starting to dry up and drop off! I don’t know if it’s overwatering or too little sunlight affecting him. It has become winter now and days are short. Should I use an artificial light to keep him going? I only have West and East- facing windows.
Hello, I’m thinking of starting an indoor herb garden in an apartment. & I was thinking of starting w eucalyptus. I THINK I have an East facing window as an only option. Is eucalyptus a good herb to start w? If not what would u suggest?
I just bought the baby blue eucalyptus. I would like to keep it indoor. Would you please give me some tips for the plant to thrive and grow healthy. Thank you 🙏
Hi Lucia, just came across your channel recently and its super great! Btw: I love ur glasses, where did u get these 🤩🤓 I was wondering if u coulf give me an advice with my newly bought Eucalyptus.🥺 I have several small tiny shiny dots underneath some leafes and I fear its a pest.😳 Do u have any advice on treatment (like browsing water over the leafes or neem oil?) muchas gracias❤️
Thank God I found you, so I know how to treat my eucaliptus right.. by the way, if you can help me.. I bought it about a 1 month ago, I put it in a big pot and let it be, "she" stayed outside and receive some rainning water.. she looks a lil' dry.. should I put it inside and do something with the soil? Thanks in advance. 🙏
Hi! As long as it gets lots of light, it should be okay! But I've learned that these plants can be very demanding indoors so make sure to observe your eucalyptus every day just to be sure it is doing well :-)
Hi, what do you do in a few years when it keeps getting bigger? I know you can cut it almost all the way down to keep it small, but the ROOTS will keep growing, right? So eventually its going to get too big for any indoor pot, right? I want to keep ours in a pot so that we can control the size, but i dont know if thats possible? Will it always come to a point where they are just so big you have to destroy them? (We dont want to plant them in the ground here, the roots are invasive and they can destroy the soil, so we want to keep it small and potted :) )
Hello there...love your video so much! The most accurate and perfect tips ever..you ve made us all wiser than before...just the right balance of fun and knowledge 👌✨🤗
Hi.... Thanks for this video, it can be very useful. But i would like to ask for ur help.... I bought this plant about 2 weeks ago,i really love it, i put it indoor, but it is getting dry, the soil is wet but i dont understand why. Do u have an idea? Thanks alot....
Hi! I'm so sorry I missed your comment.. ! How's your eucalyptus doing now? I have learned that the eucalyptus are very particular about what they like and sometimes it can be very difficult to keep them happy indoors... let me know how it is going
Thanks for the video! Great channel. I own a 6 ft eucalyptus that I've had since September 2019. I find it one of the more challenging indoor plants as I've had a lot of leaves dry up and felt like I had to water it so frequently. I would still notice leaves drying even though the soil is still wet. I've done some pruning and removed some of the dried up leaves and noticed that my new growth just keeps focusing on my already established ends of my eucalyptus. Do you have any tips on how should I handle this eucalyptus? Should I start pruning now that it's early spring? It's currently outside where the temperature is around 8 to 15 degrees.
Hii! Sorry I just noticed I did not answer this comment earlier! hmm the eucalyptus is very particular! However, I actually found a twitter account from a Eucalyptus farm and they are really amazing, super helpful and very knowledgeable about it :) You can find them here: twitter.com/hardyeucalyptus Hope this is helpful and that your Eucalyptus is doing well!
Maybe that is a stupid question but does the plant make your room smell good ? or does the smell only appear when the leaves are dry ? Thank you for making this video, care tips for this plants are very rare on YT !!
I'm wondering too. I've gotten a lot of relief from anxiety using eucalyptus oil. Figure I should just get a tree if they smell or if the oil isn't too hard to extract
Hi! Not a stupid question at all ☺️ I think it depends on the type of eucalyptus, but the one we had at our apartment (don’t have it anymore sadly) did have a beautiful aroma 💕🌿
.... Gracias 😊😊😊😊😊
Hi! Unfortunately the Eucalyptus is a more difficult plant when it comes to indoor houseplants, as they are very particular on what they like (it is recommended they are grown outdoors instead, as they can be difficult)... I found a Eucalyptus farm on Twitter, they grow all kinds of Eucalyptus and are super nice and helpful! Maybe you can contact them for further information 💜💜 they account on Twitter is @hardyeucalyptus hope this is useful!
Love the video very cool but what if my leaves are turning yellow? I believe it’s becuase it was not receiving enough sun and was being over watered. How should I prune it??
Help!!! My eucalyptus is in soil that is moist but not wet but it's leaves keep drying out. It started at the tips and now is almost to the base. I wonder if it is the light that is the problem so I moved it outside. Can someone confirm whether or not it's the light and do you think it is too late to save it?
Soooo I definitely overwatered my plant. It has red spots. I thought I would report it with dryer soil. But now I think it’s dead, like dead dead. But I’m not sure because it’s winter time. Should I just trash it?
Thank you for the video! What should I do if I’m going on vacation for a week - I know there are self-watering devices you can put in but they continuously seep water. Do you have any tips? Thank you!
Hii! Thank you for that question! It's a very good one ☺️ If your plants need more watering than once a week, and you are going for a week I'd recommend to use watering spikes, you can find them here - amzn.to/2H4L943 I have a video on how to use them here: ruclips.net/video/rAdFts54Dfg/видео.html Make sure that you only use these with plants that need more watering than once a week (since you are only going for a week, the ones that only need water once a week, you can water on the day before you leave and then when you come back) Hope this helpful ♥️ Lucia
Hello I have recently bought a eucalyptus plant and done everything as I should but recently the leaves have started to dry up and go crispy. Do you know what I can do? I give the right amount of water and she sits on a south facing windowsill 😢x
Hello and thank you for the video. What to do if some of the leaves are dry? I bought it like that in the store. should I cut them and only leave the fresh ones? Or leave them where they are? Thank you!
Hiii! Many people have been asking this question, so I checked with a Eucalyptus expert and this is what he said: 😉 Eucalyptus really don't like being indoors there's too much artificial heat and high humidity for them to cope. ... if you have to grow eucalyptus indoors, I would recommend an unheated conservatory in full sun. if that's not possible you could try placing it on a windowsill that faces to sun but doesn't have a radiator. It will need watering every day - they don't bounce back when they have wilted. You'll have to just see if it survives.. if the crispy ends are well and truly dead, you could try trimming those leaves and branch tips off and it might resprout from the base or lower down the stem. Best of luck 💚🤞
This video was so helpful! I'm looking forward to exploring the rest of your channel to help me with my other plants! When you say you water from the bottom and then let it drain, how do you do that? Do you have water in a plate/saucer under your plant, then remove it when it is dry? Thank you!!
Hiii! So happy you found the video helpful 🥰 you can find my whole care and watering routine (where I show you guys how I bottom water) here : ruclips.net/video/Skl3BPJdGHI/видео.html Hope this is helpful and let me know if you have any other questions ♥️🌿
Hi! That is a very good question! I haven't tried propagating the Eucalyptus yet... They also tend to be a bit more difficult to keep happy indoors, so it may be difficult to propagate them.. but I will try to do some research and see how it can be done :)
Would I hurt my eucalyptus by pruning it in the summer? It’s indoors year round. I got it in the beginning of summer but it seems like the weight of some of the branches is weighing it down, and I’m worried it will get too droopy if I don’t prune it soon 😭
You know? The eucalyptus can be very particular, so I’ve discovered that it is difficult to grow indoors... but in the Philippines it may be happy outdoors! What I’d recommend is to ask your plant nursery about it 🥰 please let me know what they say ! I’d love to know more about this as well :)
Hi! Is this plant the same or different from Silver dollar eucalyptus? As I know silver dollar is called Cinera, but they look exactly the same, so I wonder what the difference is.
I got cut eucalyptus at the farmers market and put it in water and cut the stem when I got home. The next day one of the branches died even though it was in water. What did I do wrong?
Hi! Unfortunately this is a very common problem with the Eucalyptus, epecially when we have it indoors.. wheat I've learned is that this plant is really particular about what it likes and what it doesn't like, and sometimes indoors we cannot provide the ideal environment for her... How is the air in your home? are you using AC or heating vents? It may be too dry for your eucalyptus... how is the weather outside now?
I absolutely loved this video and it helped me so much with my new eucalyptus, I do have a question however - I’m getting dark spots on the new baby growth on top, do you have any advice on what this is or how to keep it from happening? Thank you so much!
Hi! Thank you so much for your comment..! I have never had these in my Eucalyptus, however, tomorrow I'm going to my plant nursery and I can ask if they know anything about it! I'll let you know what they say ♥️♥️ sending a big hug to you!
Thank you so much! You’re such a sweetheart! I have a picture of the spots if that would help, for some reason I can’t seem to find a lot of info on these beautiful babies.
Hiii! I'm sorry for taking longer to reply, I asked two of my local nurseries and they couldn't tell me what it is that causes the dark spots... Has it gotten better?
Plants and Lucia it’s okay! No it’s totally gotten worse and I might loose my eucalyptus! Three of the four branches got super worse and brown, I’ve got one semi healthy looking branch left. I’m almost positive it’s spider mites because I keep seeing the webs around it, and now spots and webs on a few of my other plants. I’ve been using a mixture of dish soap and neem oil to try to save them but I’ve never dealt with spider mites before so any advice I would be so grateful! 🙏🏼
@@ivanafrank9592 oh no! I'm sorry to hear that :( According to Summer Rayne Oaks (I follow her for plant info as well 🌿☺️), often we have spider mites because there is a dry condition in the house and our plant might be struggling.. Since spider mites love dry conditions, you can sharp spray your plant first, and put on a humidifier in that room just to get the humidity back up (spider mites don't like the humidity), shower the plant again with sharp sprays, and you can then bring green lace wings (really cool bug that gets rid of spider mites :)) - - summer Rayne Oaks also recommends these, and it is completely natural so you don't damage your plant or any animal you may have at home..! You can find them here if you are interested : www.arbico-organics.com/product/green-lacewing-larval-frames-chrysoperla-rufilabris-adults-eggs-larvae/specialty-indoor-growing You can find summer Rayne Oak's video on this topic here : ruclips.net/video/SnZiLZrK-lk/видео.html Let me know how it goes ♥️♥️ Lucia

just prune it you cant go wrong with that. then the plant can focus on regenerating and strengthening the roots
@@walvves15 thanks for letting me know!!
🙌🏻😁 Love these videos! You’re so helpful and informative 💯❤️ Thank You 🙏🏻
Have you seen the rainbow eucalyptus? Also very nice!
Can you do an update on yours? And tips for potted eucalyptus drying out... I’m not sure why my leaves are drying...
Mine are also drying out ..
Same here, I killed 2 , just got my third eucalyptus few days ago, not giving up!
If I have all purpose potting soil, can I just amend it? What should I add to it?
I just bought the baby blue eucalyptus. I would like to keep it indoor. Would you please give me some tips for the plant to thrive and grow healthy. Thank you 🙏
Hi Lucia, just came across your channel recently and its super great! Btw: I love ur glasses, where did u get these 🤩🤓
I was wondering if u coulf give me an advice with my newly bought Eucalyptus.🥺 I have several small tiny shiny dots underneath some leafes and I fear its a pest.😳 Do u have any advice on treatment (like browsing water over the leafes or neem oil?) muchas gracias❤️
How bad is it to braid the branches of my eucalyptus so it's more vertical
I love this video!
Hi quick question is are my eucalyptus drying out?
I purchase unpotted eucalyptus today from the store for my shower. Can i put it in soil to grow my own?
Our eucalyptus (gunnii) is outside in a large pot. It is 3ft tall but the lower leaves are turning brown. Any suggestions? Thanks
can u be kind tell me how many times a week have to water my eucaliptus pyremid greetings from Malta
Hello, may i ask you why my some of eucalyptus leaf got a black spot..is it fungi?
Thanks for thus terrific video. Is there a soil you can recommend? I am trying to find the right one to order. Thank you!!
thank you so much! do u think eucalyptus will be ok in a north facing window? there’s a lot of light all day since i live very high
Will the tips are the same for a Silver Dollar? Or are they the same? Thank you so much!
Hello there...love your video so much! The most accurate and perfect tips ever..you ve made us all wiser than before...just the right balance of fun and knowledge 👌✨🤗
Hi! Thank you so much for your comment ☺️🌼! So happy you liked the video and that you find it useful ♥️!
I just got the eucalyptus stem so how can I grow it in pot ?
Is the white powder on the leaves normal?
Hi.... Thanks for this video, it can be very useful. But i would like to ask for ur help.... I bought this plant about 2 weeks ago,i really love it, i put it indoor, but it is getting dry, the soil is wet but i dont understand why. Do u have an idea? Thanks alot....
want to have this plants too.. but i'm live on Indonesia with hot temperature between 20-35°c. Can it grow?
Thank you so much for the tips!!!! I absolutely love your videos Lucia!! :)
Thank youuuuuuuu! ♥️♥️♥️ I'm always so happy to see your comments in the videos 🥰🌿
Thank you for this. Mine is suddenly getting a little crispy ( the leaves ) and I’m not entirely sure why.
I bought mine, so beatiful. 3 days in my apartment and its all dried up. I water it A LOT. can I save it?
@@PlantsandLucia Thank you for answering 🌿
@@PlantsandLucia what happened to your plane if you do t mind me asking and what variety was it?

Lucia is so cute :) ❤️🥰
Hello. Tengo uno dentro de casa. Lo riego cada dos días, pero cada día está más seco. ¿Qué puedo hacer? Thank you.
Can u make tea from this plant? Is this eucalyptus edible ?
Love the video very cool but what if my leaves are turning yellow? I believe it’s becuase it was not receiving enough sun and was being over watered. How should I prune it??
Hi! Do you have a picture by any chance?
Help!!! My eucalyptus is in soil that is moist but not wet but it's leaves keep drying out. It started at the tips and now is almost to the base. I wonder if it is the light that is the problem so I moved it outside. Can someone confirm whether or not it's the light and do you think it is too late to save it?
Love it! Would you please recommend a good website to buy plants?
Thank you.
You're great! So glad I found you!
Hiii! Thank you so much and I'm so happy you are now part of the community ♥️🥰🌿! Sending loots of positive energy to you and your plants ♥️♥️🌼🌼🌼
It's a very good one ☺️
If your plants need more watering than once a week, and you are going for a week I'd recommend to use watering spikes, you can find them here - amzn.to/2H4L943
I have a video on how to use them here: ruclips.net/video/rAdFts54Dfg/видео.html
Make sure that you only use these with plants that need more watering than once a week (since you are only going for a week, the ones that only need water once a week, you can water on the day before you leave and then when you come back)
Hope this helpful ♥️
Lucia
Hello I have recently bought a eucalyptus plant and done everything as I should but recently the leaves have started to dry up and go crispy. Do you know what I can do? I give the right amount of water and she sits on a south facing windowsill 😢x
Just bought this beauty ❤️
Where did you bought it???
You’re so sweet and thank you!
Hii! Thank you 🥰 hope the video was useful ♥️🌿
Hello and thank you for the video. What to do if some of the leaves are dry? I bought it like that in the store. should I cut them and only leave the fresh ones? Or leave them where they are? Thank you!
Hiii! Many people have been asking this question, so I checked with a Eucalyptus expert and this is what he said: 😉
Eucalyptus really don't like being indoors there's too much artificial heat and high humidity for them to cope.
... if you have to grow eucalyptus indoors, I would recommend an unheated conservatory in full sun. if that's not possible you could try placing it on a windowsill that faces to sun but doesn't have a radiator.
Thank you!!
Hiii! So happy you found the video helpful 🥰 you can find my whole care and watering routine (where I show you guys how I bottom water) here : ruclips.net/video/Skl3BPJdGHI/видео.html
Hope this is helpful and let me know if you have any other questions ♥️🌿
Can you propagate Eucalyptus through cuttings?
Hi! Thanks for the video. I was wondering how do you propagate the eucalyptus?
Hi! That is a very good question! I haven't tried propagating the Eucalyptus yet... They also tend to be a bit more difficult to keep happy indoors, so it may be difficult to propagate them.. but I will try to do some research and see how it can be done :)
@@PlantsandLucia thank for your reply. Keep me updated! Curous to know hihi 😊🌱
Would I hurt my eucalyptus by pruning it in the summer? It’s indoors year round. I got it in the beginning of summer but it seems like the weight of some of the branches is weighing it down, and I’m worried it will get too droopy if I don’t prune it soon 😭
Will it grow here in the phillippines?
Could you please tell us how to propagate the eucalyptus plant?
such a sweet lady Lucia, keep it up!
My eucalyptus has dried out and I don’t know how to save it. Should I clip off the branches?
Lucia our happy girl!
❤️🌿🤸🏻♀️
Thanks Lucia I want to buy eucalyptus I like them to make tea and I put a bunch in the shower
Brilliant !
I'm sorry to hear that :(
According to Summer Rayne Oaks (I follow her for plant info as well 🌿☺️), often we have spider mites because there is a dry condition in the house and our plant might be struggling.. You can find them here if you are interested : www.arbico-organics.com/product/green-lacewing-larval-frames-chrysoperla-rufilabris-adults-eggs-larvae/specialty-indoor-growing
