Yesss, after all these years, finally it is available again! This is definitely more Busoni than Bach, but that modernity - together with youthful strum und drang (not to mention the incredible technique) - is what makes the rendition so special. Thank you so very much Claire!
This is one of the very best versions I have heard - and I've heard a lot. Totally spell-binding. The subtlety of shading and interplay of the material between the hands in all the various tempi and dynamic changes is quite remarkable. All the emotions are there, strong and resolute, soft and lyrical, emotional and austere. Since all performance is a musical interpretation I normally laugh at the journalistic cliché when it is said the musician 'lets the music speak for itself', but I will make an exception here to say this performance of the work really is a revelation in terms of its significance and depth. I think both Bach and Busoni would have been very interested to hear it.
So glad to see this reposted. It is my favorite version of the chaconne. I remember seeing it for the first time many years ago, asking “what is this sorcery “. Thanks Claire!
Великолепная, одарённая пианистка! Серьёзное, гбубоко прочувствованное исполнение красивой музыки! Отличное звукоизвлечение, прекрасная постановка рук, виртуозная техника, динамика потрясающая, чудесное рубато! Браво!!
