really feels like 40k gets the least effort put in, which is an interesting choice
Don't feel that way at all. The Kroot release this year was great!
I don't think it's the least effort, it seems like the most effort with the least direction. Now you have new factions coming out overcomplicated and finicky and then immediately overshadowed by Meet the Primarchs with Lion'el and Robute.
custodes are one of the most popular faction usually top 5 most played in touranments but get barely any support model wise weird choice
My guess is that the designers don't get as much freedom as the aos team. Probably more strict rules on stuff like space marines too
@@RealmDesigner I think it has the highest variance
as a sister of battle fan i am royally miffed that squats got bikes before we did and we came into plastic first
coming from the gunpla world, GW really doesn't consider the customer when engineering the sprue. like why would you leave HALF a foot on the terrain piece? Bandai literally splits their kit based on colours and injects them in colour so you don't even have to paint them. While miniatures are harder to split, there should be at least some baseline on how to split the mini to make painting easier
Miniatures aren't hard to split, they were split in the past (because they are made for being split): you could buy 3 unique Space Marines box and mix them, same for Ork/Orc.
GW went back for monopose for core units and it's sad because now you have 5 boyz repeat a multiple time in your army instead of having 50 unique boyz.
I don’t think anyone wants pre colored plastic. There is no default color in Warhammer that people want. It always changes and forcing a blue space marine for instance would make priming/basecoating harder
There is a huge difference in miniature details. Gunpla does not have the same detail as GW miniatures.
@@cbjewelzthere are default color schemes, or does GW have artwork, pictures and animations all in grey?
Bro, you can prime any plastic and paint in top of it. Nobody is being forced, but it does help to speed up the process of having game ready minis right away for people that don't want to paint them.
It would also solve unnecessary piles of shame.
Good counterpoints would be that each mini would be dispersed in several sprues, assembly mould be more difficult and prices would be higher.
All of you instead of being reactionary and not engaging with new ideas and shaming the guy, just think, think for second what would be like and if there are some merits on it.
It is frustrating seeing people yapping to maintain tradition.
You're not the first to notice the, let's say, weird way GW engineers their kits. The Bretonnian foot knight has agitated everyone who has tried to assemble those figures, they scramble up the part location of every part you need to make just one knight in the instructions. Those who play Orks in 40k have also been treated *horribly* by GW's anti-consumerist ways, I feel for you guys, I really do. It was never like this years ago, everything was very approachable before GW started hating their customers.
It's easily surmised as "Specialist Studio are awesome model makers passionate about everything they do, main studio are very selective and only try hard on some thing". It's why Necromunda and the like are hands down the best model line in GW, and it's not even close.
Considering that Votann have barely any datasheets, I'm surprised they don't give these a 40K datasheet and make them usable, just to pad them out a bit
GW doesn't want any connections between games is why.
Those are different factions tho, votann obey the votann cores and these squats are just rogues that live on the planet
@@midknight9327 Subfactions of the same people, ultimately. They still share a lot of culture and likely diplomatic connections for trade, so they'd work well as crossover rules, but GW doesn't want that because GW forgot what fun was.
I can't see those trike riders getting much use out of their headlight; between the front tire being in the way, and the crap that tire would throw up.
Those 3d Printed Orcs have got a nice Paul Bonner feel to them.
Orktober would be a great time to paint a Crimson Fist
Keep fighting the good fight
Should go pretty quick!🤣
Paintin' a bunch of borin' humie beakygitzes?! In orktoba?! Why?!
@dr.sommercamp3435 look up Rynn's World
Orktober would be a great time to paint some actual orks
My friend and I have this conspiracy theory that whoever designs Necromunda must be james Workshops best friend and can do whatever they want.
Those goblins and troll @12:36 and the Orcs @13:10 are based directly off of Paul Bonner's artwork from the 3rd edition Warhammer Fantasy days! That is *really* impressive to see 3D renders and then resin figure of them! I have to get these figures!
Though i am not super steeped in the community, i do enjoy kill team and painting. I do love the folks that have upgrad bits that turn your model up to 10000. Better pauldrons and do dads on tbe model.
I really like the bikes, they remind me of the last Batmobile design, and I love it !
warlord titan when?
About how Hair are constructed.
Try checking Melusai archers or spear girls.. their huge hair are connected to model with one, little joint - they break of sooo easly.
I learned with time, when I glue them back I always stick them as well a bit to a back or arm, or any other point to make it sturdier.
That bark at 0:21 really caught me off guard.
My view is simple, fuck GW for making all the models monopose. Bring back actual multipiece models instead so that we dont have to see the same exact armies on 15 different tables because there's literally no choice aside swaping a head or slapping some deco items on top.
honestly i a fairly certain that the reason things are split the way they are these days is to prevent compatibility with 3rd party parts to some degree. like look at how so many models no longer have separate torsos and legs but wierd amalgomations of both
I play but I don't understand the Hedonites of Slaanesh either...so I started playing the Blades of Khorne :D
have got a burgeoning hedonites army myself rn and i feel you with the blissbarbs 😭 even reading their instructions feels like im looking at a fuckin lovecraftian necronomicon
Oh yeah.. great tip for if you want more posebility on Necrons.. snip off the tube and use a guitar string.. best tip i got from reddit
The main reason why original fantasy died off was the bare minimum effort put into the release and update of miniatures and rules. And now it seems 40k is suffering at the model level itself. It seems like fantasy and sci-fi from them go in like adhd bursts like ooohhhhhh fantasy age of sigmar, then model sculpts for 40k are not so good and the rules too, then like attention span of a fly ohhhhhhhhh sci-fi and now vise versa
GW is kinda doing the opposite; They’re changing the rules to stifle creativity/ reducing the need for converting extra melts guns or whatever, by ‘box-locking’ choices 😅
Best "how" yet
just got the skaventide box set and just wow, games workshop have created their best models ever in the age of sigmar line but 40k seems to be less inspired recently, horus heresy models are great though.
I've started hobby about two months ago, and hedonites spearhead was my first choice. Boy, they look not good after my assembly and painting
Not to worry they will just add more or larger tactical rocks to allow more posability.
Well it's not a matter of effort in 40k I imagine it's more of a matter of artistic restrictions and rules the designers have to follow.
Yea but if that’s the reason, the restrictions don’t make any sense, eg “give them tiny wings and remove all individuality and gothic flair”
That doesn't make any sense though. 40k has looked good for decades, and recently is getting a crapton of very bad models. Nothing wrong with the art style.
Wooo EOB!
Simplified but complex and boring was the phrase I think.
MinIAtures! lol Love the channel, but the way you pronounce this is wild :D
Fantastic
you should look into the engineering that goes into making gundam model kits. really makes GW look like a bunch of children.
I think, sculpring a new unit for the many weird age of sigmar armies, or necromunda, or kill team is just more fun and interessting then the fifth Iteration of a boring space marine, sorry!
Viking elements like those horse heads make 0 sense for squats who are miners, it's sto offputing and lazy (dwarf=viking) to me that i hate the votan overall
