  • Mastodon have just released "Teardrinker", the 2nd single from their upcoming album "Hushed and Grim"
    #mastodon #teardrinker #reaction
    Within a bruised heart
    I'll just say when
    Just one time before
    It will come again
    Little voice inside
    Inside my head
Tell me when it's time to turn around again
    All appears to fade away
    I can see your face
    And I feel the pain
And I feel the shame that I have let you down again
    People everywhere
    Not a drop to drink
Not a dare to think about the damage I have done
Try to give up what weighs
    What weighs you down
    The only control you have
    Is all your own
    Do I fit the pieces
    Together again
Or do I leave them lying on the floor?
    All appears to fade away
    I can see your face
    And I feel the pain
And I feel the shame that I have let you down again
    People everywhere
    Not a drop to drink
Not a dare to think about the damage I have done
    Leaving you behind
Is the hardest thing I've done
Asking where did I go wrong?
I wonder what all of this makes
    Does fortune favor the bold?
I only know that leaving you
    Was the hardest thing
    To cut and run
    I can see your face
    And I feel the pain
And I feel the shame that I have let you down again
    People everywhere
    Not a drop to drink
Not a dare to think about the damage I have done

I do believe the sadness primarily has to do with the loss of their good friend and manager Nick John, who died of cancer. Even though it was quite some time ago now, I remember the lads saying something about the upcomming album being mostly about dealing with that grief. I think I agree with you on this track being a grover and it bodes well for the album. Of course it would be nice with a punch in the face track or two, but part of the thrill right now is not knowing what to expect. Cheers🤘

I didn't think of that. That makes a lot of sense actually.
I've listened to the song a few times now and it gets better and better

Sounds like if QOTSA done a mastodon song. I thought it was decent first listen, but after a few more it really opens up. Plus that bass solo is killer. Mega hyped for the album.

Really looking forward to the album. They have never done a bad one and they are always trying something new so I am sure that it will have some curveballs in there.

Vaxis 2 from Coheed and Cambria should be coming soon - They just released "Shoulders", the new single with another amazing chorus. I saw them live with Mastodon in the "Unheavenly Skye Tour" before the pandemic and it was an amazing show - Mastodon played all of Crack the Skye (and then some) and Coheed and Cambria played most of Unheavenly Creatures. Awesome, EPIC!
EDIT: This song almost sounds like Coheed and Mastodon had a baby together. I'm not sure how I feel about that...

I will keep an eye out for that for sure. Enjoyed Vaxis 1 a lot 🤘

    Whispering Ben Harris, love it!
I would carry on with the theme but calling you The Old Grey Whispering At Desk might be a little rude.

I preferred the bass solo tbh. The guitar solo was fine but your typical technical fast guitar solo imo. The bass solo had more feel to it. All my opinion ONLY.

Check out Orbit Culture ruclips.net/video/odw_KMai2EA/видео.html man. They're like 80's Metallica, Gojira and Meshuggah mixed together. SO GOOD! Really think you'll dig them.

Yeh as I said on your other video I’m not really feeling these two singles. They’re not bad songs they just feel a bit pedestrian for me. It’s all subjective isn’t it and these guys are great artists, I’m no hater just a little disappointed.

The song gets better with every listen but it doesn't hit like those older albums. Still interested to hear the full album though
