"Ray Columbus presents New Faces" was first shown on Thursday 5 February 1976. In fact, the four-part series aired on TV2 (now TVNZ 2) at 7.30pm on Thursday evenings throughout February 1976 and featured the cream of up-and-coming local talent discovered by TV2 during 1975. Instead of competing against each other through voting, the talent joined together as a team for a half hour of entertainment over four shows.
