Hi Matt, this is the best video I've come across about the ZWO Atmospheric Dispersion Corrector - as well as about ADCs in general. It's much appreciated!
My Planetary Photos Don't Really have a Lot of Fringing in them, Because it's Pretty high in the sky. Though sometimes I get The Issue, I'm not sure if an ADC is Worth it, Because it adds A Lot of Weight onto my Image Train on my teeny 5 inch Reflector. The RGB align in Registax Doesn't work completely, It still shows some of it. Great Video man, good luck with captures of Saturn and Jupiter in Opposition! Not too long to go now 🙌
This was helpfull. I'm a Newbe and wondering how insertion of the ADC affects the back-focus setup. On the C6" the back focus is 5" or 127mm beond the Visual Back. Doen't the ADC move the camera beyond that perfect focal point?
For planetary or Lunar imaging it shouldn’t matter. Assuming its a standard SCT and not the Edge HD version. Then I believe it matters due to the field flattener.
Great video. Our family is looking to jump into planetary. We have a CPC 1100. Just need to take off the diagonal and put back whatever part we need to image from the back (bought it used so not too sure where that part went).
Holy cow I need that.. most of my planet images has that issue, I use to remove it on photoshop but it’s not that great.. I never knew you can fix that in Registax either😂 Thanks a lot man.. also when you get a chance could please share how you stack jupiters moon? Mine always looks soooooo bright 😕
Hey Raj! Registax is really powerful at doing very specific things. Obviously the better capturing and stacking you can do, the better. And yes, I can definitely do a short video on Jupiter’s moons. Thank you for the suggestion. Anything else?
I also get color dispersion with my Jupiter and Saturn, shot through my Sky-Watcher 190/1000 Mak-Newt. Registax is not getting it all out, although it does a pretty good job. So, I'm considering an ADC as well.
Great video Matt. I’ve missed your videos. BTW I grew up in South Texas but live in dry Colorado now but mountain turbulence gives me focusing issues. Can you do a polar alignment video? Thanks.
Hey Matt, after more than a decade, Registax finally has an update. The programmer named it WaveSharp. It is free and does the wavelets and aligning Registax does. Pretty neat. Check it out. While Registax is great, it is a dated piece of software.
This is a huge help, thank you! I’m also impressed with your individual frames. You must have some great seeing these nights. I’ve got a 10” SCT And I’ve never seen anything close to that level of detail. Wow. Maybe I need go tweak my focus?
Nice video bud, I've had my c11 out a few times up here in Ohio. I've never seen raw detail like that in my scope. I have the zwo 533 now and haven't had a chance to use. I'm hoping its my bortle 4-5 seeing.
Seeing you sweating makes me glad I don't live in Alabama anymore. But then I remembered that time I bought a new camera and briefly got confused into thinking it was a cooled model because the sensor was reading -10C. Nope, just that cold out here! The camera loves it, the astronomer not so much.
Thanks for the video, just bought an ADC should be here in a few days. Any suggestions for using it with the Baader Flip Mirror like where in the image train should it go?
I made a new one with the same user name. The old one is still up and after countless attempts to try and get it back, I gave up. The whole ordeal really made me despise Instagram so I took a break for awhile and went through a bunch of personal life changes at the same time. But I’m ready for the eclipse and plan on doing more RUclips vids. I greatly appreciate all the support from the community ❤
Hi, i think cause has an asi 462mc with a 2.9 sensor and a 2x barlow, so it's probably already near to the sampling limit, if it also put the adc between the camera and the barlow will increase distance between barlow and camera sensor and would oversample too much
Hi Matt, watched your videos. Bought a ZWO ADC. Followed your tutorial here. When I got to the point where I RGB align in Registax . It actually pushes the colors WAY off. Does that mean I'm not using my ADC correctly? I feel like it's a touchy process lining up the red and blue in the image session.
If you are doing mono rgb then it doesn't matter much. But one shot color rgb you will get a lot of blur if the image is not pre shifted. Rgb align in post process is great but you'll get a better result if it's pre aligned.
Can I ask you about back focus? I noticed that you don’t have any spacers to achieve your 146? Is it exact? I’m gonna have a similar set up with a 14….. Thanks!
10 out of 10 Camera Gymnastics Intro - Priceless
You have absolute cannons for arms, how do you have time for astronomy, RUclips, AND the gym. 💪🏻👍🏻
Merci pour tes explications sur l'ADC je ne savais pas pour le Newton 😅 (joli reflex pour la chute de caméra 😅😁👍)
I can’t even remember why it fell! 🤣 It was just sitting there and it wasn’t windy.

I like the style of your videos! Awesome!

It’s coming up quickly. Then waiting game for Mars in December.
Super helpful tutorial. Thank you for putting this out!
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for posting. Great Video, like always.
Thank you Danny!
Good refresher!
Thank you!
Thanks for another great video 👍
Thanks for watching!
Nice tutorial. The Jupiter images look fantastic. Was surprised how stable Jupiter looked in Firecapture in that high humidity.
Thanks for posting! There isn’t a lot of info about how to use the ADC.
I did my best ☺️

Great channel sir, keep the quality videos coming!

Nice showing the ADC and RGB align. I may need to pick up an ADC. CS!

@@InsertAstroNameHere thanks for the reply Matt. ✌🏽

Or collimation. The seeing has definitely been on the excellent side, but unfortunately tonight is a bust 😢
@@InsertAstroNameHere I’m planning to try it tonight! Up here south of Fort Worth it might clear up enough!
@@InsertAstroNameHere do you use a Bahtinov mask for focusing on a Star then switch over to a planet or can you just eyeball it perfectly?
Good tutorial. Buy some of those "ice" napkins if you really need to image in the hot Summer. Your sweat will drown mosquitoes.
Sometimes that humidity just sneaks up on you. Lol

Very nice video. here in Italy i never have your seeing. You are very luky

Nope, just that cold out here! The camera loves it, the astronomer not so much.
Is this practical to use for a manually tracking dobsonian telescope?
Thanks for the video, just bought an ADC should be here in a few days. Any suggestions for using it with the Baader Flip Mirror like where in the image train should it go?
Hi Matt,
I heard that your insta account was hacked. Are you making a new one or do you have a chance to get the old account back?

Hey matt awesome content
A Quik question: why you use the barlow after ADC?
Same question here. Cause the Barlow is a lot heavier than the ADC. Can not imagine it would make any difference though.

Can I connect the ASI Camera directly on the ADC? I‘m asking because on their website is, it is T2.
How do you like that camera versus the ASI to 290 color. Is the chip bigger
Do you think the ADC is that useful if you anyhow RGB align in post process ?
If you are doing mono rgb then it doesn't matter much. But one shot color rgb you will get a lot of blur if the image is not pre shifted. Rgb align in post process is great but you'll get a better result if it's pre aligned.
Exactly what iphone said.

Backfocus doesn't matter for planetary imagining. The planets are small and on-axis so field curvature won't be significant.
Yup that late night heat is real even at 2 its like 84 if im lucky
Enjoy your videos Matt. The sound is really low. I had to put my tablet through an amplified speaker to hear you well.
