I was done at, “two glasses of milk a day”. This goes to show how one, and indeed millions, can be hypnotized by a well spoken man. An interesting human feature, perhaps flaw. But in either case, it’s nothing more. We have heard perhaps the most elaborate rationalization for giving up a perfectly good life and career. Never has so many words said so little. 😅

can you elaborate on what you mean? It seems like a pretty innocuous phrase that has triggered you somehow?

Today, yes, but these were the dietary guidelines in 1968, when this was recorded. The Great Food Pyramid deceit was already spread way before then. I was in 1st grade that year. Every day, around mid- morning, we had a "Milk Break". It was a nickel. We had milk with breakfast and lunch. And with what we drank at home, we had more than 2 glasses. Mind you now, that we had a milkman and still were getting milk in glass bottles. There wasn't the overabundance of preservatives/additives in our food supply. There was not one obese child in my elementary school, a few pudgy ones but not obese. I was raised in small town, Texas, so I may have had a different experience than some. I haven't drank milk in 35 years. I do eat ice cream and drink milkshakes occasionally, but I don't drink milk.

He didn't give up that perfectly good life, he ended up on the wrong side of the law and was essentially stripped of his ranking and titles. It wasn't his intention to get thrown out of Harvard, it just happened that way when the substances were all made illegal. I can guarantee you that Richard Alpert did not intend on his life going the way it did, but has certainly attempted to make the most of it that he can.

    Moksha-
Derived from the Sanskrit word muc (“to free”), the term moksha literally means freedom from samsara. This concept of liberation or release is shared by a wide spectrum of religious traditions, including Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism.
Moksha in Hindu religion refers to liberation from the cycle of births and deaths as human life is believed to be one full of pains and sufferings.
Moksha is classed as the fourth and ultimate artha (goal). It is the transcendence of all arthas. It is achieved by overcoming ignorance and desires. It is a paradox in the sense that overcoming desires also includes overcoming the desire for moksha itself. It can be achieved both in this life and after death.
Nirvana (Sanskrit: nirvāṇa; Pali: nibbana, nibbāna) is the earliest and most common term used to describe the goal of the Buddhist path. The literal meaning is "blowing out" or "quenching." It is the ultimate spiritual goal in Buddhism and marks the soteriological release from rebirths, the liberation from repeated rebirth in samsara.
Nirvana is part of the Third Truth on "cessation of dukkha" in the Four Noble Truths, and the summum bonum destination of the Noble Eightfold Path.
