I sometimes use the Oculus Go for games in PCVR that require a gamepad, like subnautica VR. It works well and since the headset is light, I can use it (while charging it)...
There are 4 big gains of controllers vs hand tracking: 1) haptics 2) nice to have physical object when interacting with virtual objects, hopefully games wont just be walking up to control panel and poking buttons 3) occlusion - controllers are nice for situations where your hands are not in view (below chin, above head, behind back). Even with the awesome pinch control option i have to remember to tilt my hands to make sure my fingers arent occluded with the back of my hand 4) minute release control. Think like playing beer pong its hard for computer vision to understand when you are fully releasing the ball. Trigger allows percise release control
I can still play my NES (wrote this before your analogy haha), so I don't see why people can't keep playing their Oculus Go. Why would people suddenly get errors if it hasn't been updated since 2022? Sounds like sabotage. Companies need to make sure their products can work offline if they get sunset.
One stick-like passive object (doesn't need charged) could act as a tennis racket, golf club, and a bat. And keep in mind for the sword you only need the handle, not an entire actual sword.
Unexpecteble if you buy a game wy can't you play your game when you wat . So its fine to steal from consumers, but if you steal from big company's you will get sued 🎉
I’d love to see all the VR short films ported over to AVP. Gloomy Eyes etc would be muchhh nicer on OLED
Glad AVP is now getting some VR games.
doh! the long weekend screwed me up on days. sorry I missed the live stream.
Me too

So instead of a pair of controllers fitted for my hands I’m gonna need a tennis racket, a golf club, a gun, a broad sword etc. What could go wrong?
