Learning this also made my overhead press skyrocket. I was always able to press more while sitting and a lot less while standing. Getting a strong base made the standing press much better
Thanks so much for this! Bracing is my biggest barrier to increasing my lifts right now and I have been finding it very difficult to maintain my brace. Going to throw these into the mix and see how it helps develop my ability to brace!
Thank you young man. I need this. I am getting ready for a Masters division powerlifting meet in Oklahoma. Good stuff great job. You are a great trainer.
I have just been reading about this and realised that I have been doing it for years and thoughting I have good form. How wrong I was! Amazing video and exercise which I will be incorporating into my training. Thank you so much for these video. This is the best training info channel. It amazes me that this channel doesn't have 1m subscribers.
Blowing out a little bit of air through an imaginary straw when bracing is the cue that helps me with this exact thing. I'm quite sure I've learned it from this channel.
Great video! As someone who doesn't wear a belt I am always looking for videos to help me improve my bracing and positioning. Goblet squats have been one of my favorite warm up exercises for awhile now!😀💪
I think he meant to say Anterior Pelvic tilt- weak Hamstrings, weak core, tight quads and tight hip flexors. I have a group of about 200 lifters in my strength and conditioning faciilty...some men but Mostly women, the first thing they do is ask them to show me a squat they would try to do if they were by themselves, majority of then start the squat with a huge arch and chest up.... I show them how to brace with the rib cage down and after teaching them I tell them now try to breath and brace while "closing the ribcage down" squeezing top ab to bottom while keeping your original arch. (They can't do it because of the elongated abdomen like you said. Then I have them do it the right way again and it clicks. Juat a fun trick to show them wrong and then right back and forth to drill the poiint home... Great info 👍 I love the kb squat for feeling tightness.
Great video but I´m confused. When I started lifting I learned the technique from Daves videos and he teaches the exact opposite, Matt Wenning also in the elitefts so you think you can squat series. why? If you dont mind I would appreciate a video about the differences between these two types of bracing and why Dave teach to arch the back. There are multiple videos, one for example is called elitefts teaching the box squat. I know that there is context but like I said, in almost every video Dave teaches to arch hard. It would be awesome when you explain the differences. Thank you very much guys. I appreciate you
Arching back is how you lift in multiply gear. It’s now how you want to brace if you are looking to move efficiently. Information regarding training develops over the course of time.
@@eliteftsofficial thanks for responding but the videos I talk about are all videos where he teach raw squatters and Matt wenning from the so you think you can squat video series too... anyway... thanks you very much
Nice - easy to understand starting position. I need some work on this - I get wound up and focus on the air and sometimes the alignment is not happening. And of course, Sam has to torture us with unilateral work :)
Good instruction. When doing Low-Bar Squats, the typical advice is to break at the hips and push your butt back with the back angled forward - but with no pelvic tilting. So, as long as the core, glutes and hips are still aligned but not vertical then I take it that this is still okay.?
I will forever struggle with this concept and the proper amount of arch. I can’t low bar squat completely stacked like this, some amount of the “chest up” queue has to be utilized to keep bar on your back.
same problem for me. easy to do on high bar, but as soon as i push myself on low bar i lose it. Wonder if this is typical of people with long torsos, short femurs?
What does "stack" actually mean. I hear it constantly. Things like "stack your lats" in the bench, and you used it here a bunch as well. Does it just mean engage the muscle in the area you're refering to?
First!! And apparently I've done my bracing correctly while squatting 😬 gotta watch that overhead video. Thank you for making these videos 👏 keep on floating 🤣

The "dead bug" has helped me immensely, to learn how to brace.

Awesome tips even for beginners. Thank you.
Wow. I was definitely making this mistake. Made it this morning, even. Thank you!

Always lock and load. ❤ this instruction.
Thank You..
This just broke down step by step why my body's currently all fucked up and what I should have done right
This was what I would call a ... revelation! ;-) Thanks for this, will implement immediately!
Well good to know I was doing a proper squat since HS in my 30’s now

Sam's been hitting the sauce lol

I was just thinking that. Thiccboi Sam
Thats now I know why my core have a problem with bracing while Im squatting going down. I have to try to correct this. Thank U

It helps negate butt wink too, at least it did for me. Ps Kelly starrett covered this in supple leopard, you're in good company there Sam
old mate is super baked
Thanks, do you brace the same with a SSB /yoke bar?
Great series!
Yes. The brace is the same with every bar.

Comment for the algorithm

Stack means to put one thing on top of the other. So you don't want your hips back and your ribs forward.
@@getpumped87 dude thank god someone finally answered that question hahah. Totally forgot I even asked it, but that makes complete sense to me.
@@USMC5858 You should have just texted me! haha

Disagree. I would fall backwards if I had to stay completely upright.
