- Is this the Heaviest surf session ever seen in the Mentawaiis?
Ive been traveling to the Mentawaiis Islands for the past 10 years and for me this was some of the Biggest, heaviest, shallowest and most dangerous waves ive surfed around here... It might look perfect, but trust me....
This wave stands up lilke a train, its steep like looking down a cliff, once you made that drop and pulled in, you never know if that last section is going to do... Its a roll of the dice, wether it stays open and lets you out or just close out because the reef is to shallow to handle such mass of water.
You gotta pay to play, and this time the boys paid to play.. Scratches, broken board, split up noses and to finish off the session Nasty Nate knocked himself out on the last wave.
Life of a pro surfer is the dream they say , until you go head first into the reef and need to get stiches but your 16h away from the closest Hospital.

INCREDIBLE waves. My goodness. This really is the best channel on all of youtube for this type of big wave/slab surfing, all the spots you surf are fun to watch and you score all the time. Everyone out there killed it on a crazy steep and fast-barreling wave

This is by FAR hands down the most intense paddle in tube session I have watched in a long time. Nasty Nate is a soldier. Staples, stitches, reef transplant. "Gnarly" is the best I can say. For a an above average surfer that has surfed the Mentawais, this spot is scary. That is way you don't see a single turn in this video. The ultimate slab and at ten foot, just scary.

@@skatefulfillShippies has a chip on it, and is not as shallow as Greenbush, it just has that rock shelf that makes it psycho on the inside. Teahupo'o is so powerful it keeps you off the reef, and its more shallow next to the channel so its less dangerous then its made out to be. Greenbush is in between bot, making it as, or more dangerous than both on 10+ foot day.
@@jacklucas4665 I agree. There's a reason that there is literally 0000 other footage of it being surfed this size. Why do you think it's gone so long with plenty if Mega Indo swells not being surfed? Because it was literally deemed unsurfable. Nic's a monster.

I've been training on reefs and slabs this year and watching both of you greenbush sessions pretty much every day. I'll be south mentawai June and July waiting to face this beast. Thanks for the motivation nick, Nathan, Denis and crew

I was at Greenbush a few weeks before this day.. (end of June).. the wave was too small to surf, so I spent an hour diving over the reef. It is such a scary looking reef , with big cracks and deep crevices.. I kept thinking of my dive watching the boys charge this wave.. so impressive. Hello to Nate and Dennis from Randy Morton ..
