- Organised by @Riflechair in Canada, Bloke and Chap attempt the Cabin Fever Challenge 2023 in Division 6 (.22 Rimfire) at 50m on a 4" target. How did they get on with Bloke's Victor Arms / CZ / ADCO / LUVO V-22 upper on an Oberland Arms AR-15 lower?

Great fun, you guys did well for the conditions! 👍 Uh, sounds like a big cow was relieving itself in the background, added quite an ambiance to the shoot! 🤣🤣
There was a drain pipe just forward of the firing point, you'll see it in the next video! 😅
Always fun to see the cabin fever challenge. And it’s odd how nobody actually has a fever !
Huzzah! I did my last attempt with my M1 yesterday. Tried out a winter trigger, it’s better than freezing your finger off if you had to fight at -20° but I took it off the rifle quickly afterwards. 3 minutes low and I had to manually reset the trigger after every shot. Second attempt was ten hits, I haven’t reviewed the video for the time yet. Had a great AR run in -11°F a month ago.
Haven't tried it yet, but I always thought the winter trigger was an Negligent Discharge waiting to happen. Maybe not so much on the range, but a company of grunts with them, in sub-zero weather freezing their butts off, and the bang-button is right where you normally grab the grip, and I assume they kept the safety permanently off when they used the winter trigger, otherwise it would be a huge pain to switch on and off. I also figured it would make your trigger squeeze better, since it's mechanically straight back, no chance to push or pull left or right on the trigger. Anyway I think it's awesome that you used it in the match!
Sounds like fun. Especially the low temperature.
I don't think chappie is used to the scope thing idea...
He's a more sights kind of guy
In the usa we have CMP rimfire sporter that is a different take on this. 7.5lb or less 22lr, 6x or less scopes, 3lb or more triggers (ie standard 22lr rifles not olympic/fancy guns). YOu are permitted one standard M1 type sling (loop sling, not in standing), one regular glove, and a shooting matt (no fancy gloves or jackets. 60 shots for record on a target with a ~1.5" 10-ring (600 max score). 10 shots slowfire and 10 shots rapid (5 at a time in 25 seconds from standing, +5 for bolt guns) from each of 3 positions (prone, sitting/kneeling, standing). Targets at 50 yards except standing = 25 yards. A great marksmanship practice game wihout alot of equipment or expense. Basically any off the shelf 22lr and not-crap-grade ammo can score perfect as the 10 ring is 3MOA. But a perfect score has only been obtained once.
That actually sounds really great, I'd like to give it a try some time!
Good shooting. Due to range limitations I am practicing 3 position on 2" centres at 25, missing is very easy. Think I will add the sitting just for fun
A two story public rifle range?! Amazing! The only public range in my area just has concrete tables, berms, and random meth addicts.
It's actually 3 storey, and it's not really public in that way, as a rando you can't just turn up and shoot there.
Meth heads randomly scattered out on a public shooting range, well that's one way to deal with the drug problem Kudos!!! 🤠👍

Certainly no shooting up.
On essayera! But will have to find a range buddy at the moment of filming as I have 2 mags only for my CZ457 too (or do like Chap avec son MAS)… even if semi-autos are better suited for this score-wise I guess, but I haven’t any so…
Chappy deserves an extra 10 points for having to operate a excessively modern non-French firearm... 😆
It's all fun times chappie and Mike
Reminds me of the early days of the youtube gun community, Lots of challenges and the old "video response" feature
Good and fast shooting both of you. I would need good mag loader as well.
Just did this today (minus sitting) at w
200 yards with an AR. Kneeling is painful, yet actually pretty stable.
Nice shooting guys!
As an engineer myself, I can confirm that doing maths is what calculators (and spreadsheets) are for.
(The HP-15C rules! Only true nerds will know. 😊)
Mag reloads were flawless and economy of motion was fluid. Rifle ran well and you managed the distractions around you. I have always seen marksmanship as a Zen state that allows the individual to partition themselves from the immediate world. Its a mental test. Now... Back to work for me...
It's my zen and my Yoga indeed :) Thanks for your kind words!
Interesting to watch, thank you both!
Always fun watching you two have fun! Isn't Chap a leftie?
I do believe this is the first time I've heard 'garbage tier' used ahead of 'Leupold' in the same sentence.
He shoots rifle properly, despite being wrong-handed!
@@BlokeontheRange Ah. I'm also a lefty who shoots righty.
a cool rifle, thank you
Nice that's second place on the 2022 scores!
It's actually 2nd highest score ever in any category o:)
I would disqualify you for hanhing the magazine directly to the shooter. You are supposed to leave it on the ground and the shooter pick it up from there.
Show me in the rules where it says anything about magazine placement ;)
Congrats on your 1st place.
Style of the time alert!
You get a cookie for spotting the reference! :D
Excellent vid, sounds like your next to the bogs
Thanks :)
There's a drainpipe emptying onto some rocks a few feet in front of the firing point, lol
I'd have thought The Chap would have done a little better than that. Obvious that it's Blokes rifle and he was move comfortable with it. All on the paper though, not bad at 50 with a .22 LR. Thanks for posting-
Oh wow... That's an awesome 22...
That's what you guys have to use right..
Wait sorry... You guys sound British... But aren't there..
I forgot...
So why use 22 then
Listen to the start of the vid, and if it's still not clear, read the Cabin Fever Challenge rules (linked in the description) in the light of what was said at the start of the video
I wonder that this could be done with a PCP air gun as some are getting extremely accurate and you probably don't need a official range
We shoot a similar event in the States called an Appleseed Shoot. It’s a timed 4 position event on reduced size targets at 25m typically done with 22lr rifles. Score certain amount of points and you get a well earned patch. During the breaks and at lunchtime ROs tell totally unbiased stories how we defeated the British in the Revolutionary War.
The CFC is a world-wide online competition, open to anyone who can safely handle a firearm. It's free and just for fun and open for another 2 weeks. I highly recommend it!
iz Rifle Chair guy still alive ? Ain't seen hide nor hair of Rifle Chair
He's active on the cabin fever challenge Facebook page
Looking at how far you're having to place your head/eye in relation to the scope's eyepiece. one would think that this 1x3 scope is an "Extended-Eye relief" model intended for scout rifle mounting forward on the barrel, or pistol use. the other issue I see is the rings/mounts are too tall causing you to crane/lift your head into an unnatural position from the stock's cheek rest area.
Nope, nope, nope good sir, Leupold's scopes are far from rubbish.
It's definitely not an scout scope, and rather pre-dates that sort of thing on the commercial market. If the rings were any lower I'd have to crush my face down into the butt. This is probably a 1980's Leupold, and the reasonably-priced optics of that era were utter tonk compared to today.
@@BlokeontheRange agreed, the newer optics are getting better all the time. Good luck on the next shoot and do re-cock. >~
by the by. I rummaged through my wares and came across set of Leupold Detach-O rings with bases in its original packet from the late 1960's. These were to be mounted onto a Winchester 1894 Carbines barrel using the rear sight dove tail lot and barrel band as mounting points. The intended scope, an extended eye relief was a 2x, or 3x Leupold scope. quite a bit before Jeff Cooper popularized the Scout rifle concept.

Every brand has ups and downs.
@@onpsxmember ah so true, so true.
Wait.. what is he saying about Holland... And why they displeased.. shooting like what.. do you shoot differently there or something
It fit the small-bore carbine competition rules. Just. But wasn't in the "spirit" of them (there were a bunch of boomer prejudices baked into the rules, but they couldn't think of everything). In the meantime they've changed the rules to ban anything with a free-standing pistol grip so it wouldn't be allowed now.
@@BlokeontheRange Go back with those ridiculous Hera Arms CQR stocks?
Or even a California-compliant fin stock? XD
@@BlokeontheRange AWB era wooden thumbhole stock? That might cool them down a bit being wood-ish and all.
I'd have had lots of fun with them, that's for sure, lol...
This caliber is too small.
It's standard .22lr 🤷♀️
Thanks for replying, BoTR!
Small impact on target=small impact on wallet, an issue we are all concerned about these days, lol
Me too, sir. That's why I LIKE TO USE MILITARY 5.56MM HIGH PRESSURE!
