We are also trying to switch to healthier options within our home. It's very challenging doing different than we've always done, but hoping it makes a positive impact in the long run
Orange Spice Tea 2/3 cup instant tea (sweetened) 1 cup lemonade 2 cups Tang 2 tsp ground cloves 2 tsp ground cinnamon (Add more spices if desired) Mix all ingredients together. Mix with either hot or cold water.
Happy New Year Audrey! I found your channel during the pandemic (I think) when we were all stocking our pantries differently. Glad to join you in the pantry challenge although I'm feeding only my husband and myself. Looking forward to meal planning with you!
We are doing the pantry challenge as well but I will have to buy raw milk, buttermilk, and eggs. We buy all of our meat from our local farmer (except venison that my husband harvests from our land), fresh vegetables from local farms when in season. And our milk comes from the same farmer we buy meat from. Almost all of our pantry food comes from Azure Standard and a little from Costco that is over 2 hours away. I love to use what we have, all I have canned and preserved, and make almost everything from scratch with real food. I am not buying processed foods anymore. We are not eating fast food either.
I have been working on making some meals out of our pantry as well, and trying to use up some older items. I like the bins on the floor, I have something similar, but mine are on wheels which makes it convenient for me to pull out. Your shelves look very similar to my kitchen pantry shelves. Which I basically had my husband make from the dimensions I gave him, and everything is organized much nicer now and I can see what I have on hand.
Thanks for the pantry tour. I really appreciate your 'simplicity' approach to all things whenever possible. I love the tip to buy an RV hose filter to keep chlorine out of city water!!! Isn't it ironic how we've all had to adjust how we are 'prepping' since 2020?? The jars of butter you canned had me wondering how long those will hold up? I had to throw out an Aldi jar of ghee (exp 2023) that I finally got around to opening last week - rancid. 😥 For sure, I will not be buying anything that I would not normally purchase/use because food waste is so sad, especially at today's prices.
@@Pursuit.of.Simplicity - I hope you are able to use it! Crazy how much butter costs at the store these days. Double blessing to have your milk cow and your amazing skills!
I'm buying milk at least because my kids don't like drinking reconstituted powdered milk unless it's in hot cocoa or smoothies. Probably some fresh fruit but we have apples and oranges and grapefruit right now.
I love and use Real Salt , but make sure some of my cooking includes Morton's Iodized salt. Reason being.....Iodine helps make thyroid hormones, which help keep cells and the metabolic rate (the speed at which chemical reactions take place in the body) healthy.
Hi Sandra, I had half my thyroid removed many years ago. Iodized salt isn’t really a great source of dietary iodine. Seafood, eggs, and seaweed are good sources in our diet but I take a liquid nascent iodine supplement daily.
I do but I can’t find the recipe right now. If I find it, I’ll add it to a video! If I can’t find it, I know which friend gave it to me so I’ll ask her again.☀️
I agree! I’ve really tried to recenter our “preparedness” and food storage around producing food on our farm so we always have food available but don’t necessarily need to store a bunch of canned goods or processed foods.
WOW - it's still an "Aladin's cave" - can I just ask one question - you seem to be going in the right direction re oils and unprocessed food BUT why do you still use "fake sugar" - I can't actually eat it as it really affects me - I am fine with "real sugar and honey" but do you actually know what's in Stevia etc. I don't know myself as all sweeteners really upset my gut - I was just wondering and was interested, not trying to be negative 🥰
Stevia isn’t fake sugar. It’s just a natural sweetener that is much better for our bodies than sugar. Yes, it’s “processed” but it’s still pure stevia and I feel much better about putting a teaspoon of stevia in my children’s protein shakes rather than sugar on a regular basis. We still use honey and maple syrup as well, just not every day.
I have read recently that erythritol has been linked to danger of blood clots and other cardiovascular events. 😮 Have you given monk fruit a try?@Pursuit.of.Simplicity
Thanks for the tour! Excited to see the meal prep videos for inspiration!
Thank you! So glad you’re here!☀️

We’ve been through a lot together, haven’t we?? So glad you’re here!☀️

Hi Audrey, your pantry is definitely different but I understand it's for the better. We all just need to do what we can for our family.

I will probably end up dumping that canned butter. 🫣

You can goggle Ramen noodles salad. To use one up. 1 pkg of noodles is 2 servings. You can some day use other broth add vegetables, some meat.
We love homemade ramen bowls but I’ve never made them myself so I’d like to try a recipe while I still have some of these noodle packets left.☀️
Looking forward to seeing your new/healthier way of eating videos.

Can’t wait for more videos ❤❤❤

Crush up the French fried onions and use as a batter for air fryer/ baked chicken.
Do you have a good Spanish rice recipe? We aren’t eating out for a while and that’s one thing I love from the restaurant.

I also like to group like items together; condiments, vegetables, meats, etc.
Now it looks like you hardly have any food compared to before.

Russian tea is good
