He ended up as a teacher because he was a hippy in the late 60s but started off working for Shell or BP or one of the big oil companies. Eventually after a couple times using psychedelics you realize you never needed the drugs to get there in the first place. I stimulate my brain into visions at least a couple times a month. It keeps me loving and completely independent from anyone else's thoughts of me, or anything for that matter. Also once you start doing this kind of think you'll start to notice, or sense energies you didn't even know it was possible to feel
