Today I am going to try to walk you through a recreation of an effect that was requested. I am not 100% certain still because I am missing some of the origin of the source material. So I had to mostly rely on my ears to make this setup work.
Anyways the track that was related to the question is located over here:
    open.spotify.c...
Timestamp related to the effect is around the 1 minute and 4 seconds mark.

There is also some vocoding shenanigans going on in the background vocals

could be, there was some artifact in the vocal I couldn't really place. Could be a vocoding, or there is something inside the effect that was added there that I couldn't pin point. Just being honest.

the backing vocal sounds more like it's being run through a vocoder with a low pitched carrier. some of the presets for the BV-X vocoder device might get you close. The "emergency announcement" or "fake speech synthesis" or even "fat synth transformer" presets, for example.
alternatively, it sounds like possible ring modulation distortion, and the "modulation" setting on the scream device could be a good start.

i do think you were rather keen to pick up the saturation because there's loads of saturation, and your initial attempts here get sufficiently close to the character.
